None of you bother to listen to anything that isn't backed up with a link.

Your first response after "the left did it" is "source?"

EVERYONE does that. Chanti just refuted a source yesterday by questioning the Washington Examiner.

When your "source" is obviously a biased Opinion piece, posted as fact, you'd be stupid not to point that out.

Everything has a tilt. Every one of them is getting paid for/owned by someone with a lean (mainstream).

Just gonna have to accept it. it doesn't default make everything a lie (except foxnews)

Do you read anything from any right leaning/conservative sources to try to have a well rounded idea about the news? just curious

Getting a nervous twitch every time you hear "Fox News" might have made sense several years ago when it and MSNBC were the most biased kids on the block, but now they're all just as bad or worse.

I actually prefer that to the alternative. Like, with MSNBC and Fox, at least I know what the spin's gonna be and can calibrate appropriately. The alternative is, you get something like NYT, which alternates wildly between incredible investigative reporting and the dumbest takes on the planet, so everything is a *** coin flip.

Also, David Brooks should have been put on an ice floe two decades ago.

I gave up on the NY Times ages ago.

I mean if the Times is the captured and controlled mouthpiece of the left its no wonder why the left has had so much trouble over the last 50 or so years.

I think David Brooks was replaced by an animatronic robot ages ago, well before AI was invented.

And do NOT get me started on Maggie Haberman.

The main issue I have with the bias in media isn't that I'm shocked by it, if you dig deep enough (usually not very deep) you find out this person is married to this person who owns this and has a special interest in this/that side due to something they own.

I get that. What bothers me is political zealotry by ordinary citizens who claim to be intelligent or informed. In the 80's, I'd have been on every argument on the other side of what I am now, because in the 80's, the conservatives/Reagan Republicans were the silencers of other opinions, they were the ones who dominated the media and had a no-compromise position on everything.

These days, that description falls firmly in the lap of American liberals/leftists/socialists and our vastly biased to-the-left media. From career activists to the every day Joe liberal, it's become a one celled organism of ideological defense.

All ideologies have flaws, sever flaws in some of them. But when you live in a time that dictates one of those ideologies CANNOT be questioned openly without often sever life altering ramifications (depending on your career, or if you have one), that is BEYOND dangerous and that is what we are now experiencing. So when liberals get bent over a conservative leaning columnist or EVEN a middle of the road columnist or publication, yet, never point that accusatory finger at any of the plethora of complete nutjobs on the opposite side (not saying YOU are doing this, you just, brought it up) it makes their assessment of the ones they dislike completely disingenuous. That's where the "hypocrite" part starts to squeeze itself in there for me.

I don't like Fox News, mostly because every time I walk past the living room at night to use the restroom or something, my mom is asleep in her chair with that on and there is always like, Hannity screaming some crap.

However you are right, sometimes, you HAVE to watch some Fox or OAN so that you actually get the full story on some stories, or even see some stories at all.

Like, the mother who was shot in the head in Indiana by BLM peaceful protesters because they got into an argument with her boyfriend, she said, "all lives matter!' during said argument, they argued some more, all pulled guns on one another, talked it out, shook hands and went their separate ways. Then, those peaceful BLM protesters hid under a bridge, followed the group, popped out and shot her in the head. I did not see that6 story at all on any run-of-the-mill ABC/CBS/NBC, and if they did show it, it was featured for an hour then buried by people whining about cops doing their job and arresting people in Grant Park for trying to destroy public property.

Then, they focus on the heinous crime of a few people splashing paint on what amounts to legal graffiti in NYC, that took zero effort to create, looking to arrest those people but oh no, don't arrest protesters who are trying to destroy actual works of art.

So the girl who got ran over in Seattle didn't deserve to die for her beliefs and neither did this woman, but our media made the decision one was more important than the other because that person's beliefs fit the current popular narrative and the other's did not. And your average, every day liberal stays silent about the mother, too.

It is not going to fly.

It will eventually go to the Supreme Court, who will then say that it is the Constitution that states that the executive branch has the sole authority to enforce federal law.

Criminal lawsuits have been dropped and/or overturned due to the state acting on the behalf of the federal government, and the same concept applies in this.

So, guess what Chanti. Your tax dollars are being frivolously wasted on a fruitless endeavor. Are you happy about that?

And the sad part is, your lawmakers know that they have an ice cube’s chance in hell to succeed. So they know they are wasting taxpayer dollars on this. Just for a PR stunt. Which makes it even worse, because it is completely political in nature.

Not my tax dollars.

But guess what KN. Your tax dollars will be frivolously wasted futility defending the Trump administration, which will be long gone when this suit hits the courts, of administrative overreach and kidnappings under the color of law.

We can discuss wasteful spending all we want. Probably in it's own thread (look for that soon). I guess we are both guilty of going off subject.

Either way, yes, I'm not happy with the wasteful spending, but it happens (incoming grammar nazis) irregardless of which letter is next to the President's name.

But please (in the new thread about to be created), do tell us what "administrative overreach and kidnappings" there are.

for local news here in the ATX. this came out a few days ago

https://www.fox7austin.com/news/austin-police-association-recommends-members-stop-active-enforcement

Quote:
Austin Police Association President Ken Casaday said the recent election made it clear the community does not want police officers to actively enforce drug and traffic laws.

So, he is telling association members to only respond to the calls they are assigned to moving forward. “What I'm telling my guys is, ‘Answer your calls and that is it,” said Casaday.

Casaday said he thinks it's time for officers in the city to stop actively enforcing non-violent crimes because that’s what city leaders and the public seem to want.

going to be interesting times ahead

The other one is in Maine...

Portland, Oregon, police declare Saturday gathering a riot after another night of protest, unrest
USA Today

Quote:
...
The protesters broke into the Portland Police Association at around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, police said, and "ignited a fire inside." That prompted police to declare the event a riot "due to the violent conduct of the large group creating a grave risk of public alarm." The fire inside the Portland Police Association building was put out a short time later....
OK, personally I would call that a riot too.

Do you really think arresting protesters who've been breaking laws, even as minor (in your opinion) as destroying public/private property, equates to "kidnapping?"

Really...

Really.

Really?

You know for an absolute fact the ones they grabbed were simply walking down the street, minding their own business...were not wanted for a crime of that moment or from previously?

I attended Ohio University during what was later known as the, "Time Change Riots." All it was, when the "roll forward an hour" time change occurred, the bars (33 of them in 3 blocks, OU was famous for this) all pushed everyone out an hour earlier than they expected, there were too many for the sidewalks to hold and some spilled into Court Street. The Nelsonville (not even Athens) cops decided to come and make a thing of it, knee knockers and all, so it made the already drunk crowd rowdy and then it also drug people from their houses to come to see, "what was up."

Later that week, several of my friends were kicked out of OU, being labeled "instigators" due to the administration and local police identifying them from street lamp camera video.

My point, some of these goons may have been previously caught on video damaging property and were on a list. Or, just standing in the street, not following orders to disperse, which is also illegal.

At some point these children need to be told play time is over and obviously the mayor isn't/wasn't going to do it. Pretty hard for me to believe anyone dressed in the traditional Antifa black garb/black mask/black backpack are just out taking a walk for their health.

Here's a perfect example of how our putrid and biased media is destroying free speech under the guise of, "limiting hate speech."

This is the exact paragraph I posted in the comment section of a Newsweek article about Ron DeSantis supposedly dismissing a question about recently deceased Rep. John Lewis (when in fact the press conference was simply about Covid and had nothing to do with Lewis in any way, so he was simply trying to keep the conversation and questions on point).

I posted: "Lewis was someone who had good intentions in the past, but also one of those who could not let go of the past, always seeking to find evidence or reasons to keep banging the same drum. He was initially a civil rights advocate when it was most needed, who then morphed into a race-baiting, career politician who added nothing to assist everyone in America afterwards...just the group he cared about."

Upon hitting submit, it popped up a statement asking me basically, "Did you REALLY want to post this as is? Because if so, it's going to be reviewed by our staff for community standards violations."

Really? Vast difference between simply disagreeing with an opinion and claiming it's "hate speech" worthy of moderation. Absolutely zero of what I typed could even be remotely categorized as hate speech or anything needing to be censored. This is *** scary and I'm starting to see where the tinfoil hat folks are getting this logical comparison of our media to the press in the Third Reich.

hmm. pretty interesting
https://www.yahoo.com/news/california-city-removed-black-lives-161514854.html

Quote:
A California city removed its Black Lives Matter mural in the middle of the night last week after a local lawyer asked whether she could install one nearby in support of President Donald Trump's reelection bid.

CBS San Francisco reported on Sunday that a Redwood City resident, Dan Pease, asked city officials earlier in July if he could paint "Black Live Matter" on a street downtown as part of an Independence Day public-art celebration. Officials agreed and provided him with yellow poster-board paint he used to paint the 17-foot mural.

guess its not fair to have a political message for one thing and not another ~ or is this a sign of racial inequality still? whatever the excuse for the blm mural removable its interesting. I hope to see lawsuits ensue for political messages paid by taxpayer

LOL. That's hilarious. If that's the reason for the removal, then I guess the only thing more powerful than liberal virtue signaling is their hatred for Donald Trump.
