COR isn't a top 4 DPS. In CERTAIN SITUATIONS it can be. Those situations are if it's a dark-weak mob, and someone is using malaise and thus catering specifically for the COR. And if COR never got to melee in 75, that's cause 75 was broken. COR has higher dagger skill than marksmanship skill, and has absolutely zero magic support. What do you think it was supposed to do? I hear it was used COR/WHM back in the day and that's such a bastardization of the intended mechanics of the job it's laughable. For christs sake the storyline COR is basically Odin, thus Darkness aligned, and you're telling me his job is supposed to sub WHM and help with status removals? TF? In todays FFXI, a COR has the highest darkness damage of the game, perfectly aligned with how COR functions per the story.

If you paid attention, you'd see there are both strategies built around reducing TP feed (Mewling strategies) and argument for subtle blow usage and how it can speed up fights (Ruaumoko has a video showing this concept in action). The community ignores it, but the community is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. The amount of DT gear accessible makes the game so much more interesting because now you can get yourself to survive and you have a way to protect yourself if needed and not just pray to RNGesus to survive an attack.

RUN is regarded as the better tank, but saying only RUN can tank endgame is *** HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. Every single monster in the game is tankable by a Paladin, and they can do nearly as good of a job as a RUN can. The biggest difference is a RUN can either make manaburn strategies more effective, or it can hybrid much better and become an extra DD while a PLD is pretty much full turtle. Last wave 3 Dyna run I did we used a PLD and he did better than any of the tanks I ran with when I got my first wave 3 clears, lol.

BLM's aren't in the NA meta, but the JP's use them plenty. I've seen a Twitch streamer in a JP pug (I think? Not 100%) group and they cleared wave 3 Dyna using a black mage group. BLM is plenty viable for a lot of content in the game, but everyone in the NA community prefers to bash things in the head. That's a community issue, not necessarily a game mechanic issue. There are some game mechanic issues at play...but the job is still viable.

So maybe get back to bashing on FFXI when you actually know how the game works.
