Just because its in the Bible does not make it right, look at the koran, its messed up as well. Heck the US constitution is a corrupt document now as well. It may have something to do with translations over the centuries where things that may have been acceptable then are not now. The bible is not a living and breathing text as far as I am concerned I tend to be an originalist when it comes to the bible and the constitution, so you kinda need to look beyond current thought processes to get to the root meaning.

The only way all religions and all this religious stuff makes any sense, is if god is the ultimate troll. Think about it.

Religion has a closed mind so there really isn't a point visiting this thread. I believe there is an athiest thread better suited for you.

Working on it, I can only age a year every 365 days or so though. Maybe if I push harder?

The goal here isn't to convert you into belief in God. That’s up to the Holy Spirit. Atheists already know God exists (Romans 1:20). The goal is to let you know that you, like me, are a sinner and desperately need the Savior.

And that's the eternal struggle between atheists and those who believe.
Believers will *always* try to convince atheists that there is a divine power behind everything. Even going as far as saying "Atheists already know God exists".

Whatever is written in the bible, in the atheist point of view, is not important and does not matter and doesn't prove anything. It's his / her choice to be an atheist in the first place.

It almost sounds as if you're trying to convert atheists into believers.

And that's what I find it the biggest threat in religions. Haven't you (or someone else in here) said that God gave us the right of freedom?

In my honest and humble opinion, Dobrusi, if what you're trying to accomplish here is trying to promote your point of view, a believer, for everyone to see... I think that you're most likely showing that everyone else who disagrees with believers should simply be converted because "it's the right thing to do".

All of this is irrelevant, whether your a literal word for word follower of a religious text, accept the religious text may have hidden messages and morales to the texts, half believer hoping that a later life exists and there be a purpose in life, a non-believer thinking there cannot exist a higher power through the research of science or a hardcore campaigner against all that is wrong in blind faith and the acceptance of religious stances without found background knowledge, it is all irrelevant.

As we are already here. For what? Maybe there is or isn't an answer or meaning. Surely though this suggests we live our lives without harming another person, enjoy ourselves without falling harm to anyone.

True socialist view.

Honestly Bill and Ted pretty much summed up what religion should encompass.

"Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes."

I just feel like saying this. Feel free to tl;dr.

Religion is bad.
Faith is good.
Blind faith is bad.
Questions are good.

Believing in the existence of something supernatural is perfectly logical. It is not scientific, because science has nothing to do with it--science deals in only the natural, not the supernatural. The fact that there are tons of logical arguments and reasons to believe in the supernatural, does not make any of it true.

Logic does not make something true or real; it just means that it makes sense. This applies to all of the arguments for and against the supernatural. No amount of argumentation and reason, no matter how logical, will ever convince either side of the debate.

Further, when a person has an elaborate structure of belief regarding the supernatural (i.e. religion), beginning an argument with some random point in your belief system without first establishing foundation, is a downright foolish way to argue. I mean, trying to convince someone they must adhere to your belief system because they are a "sinner" skips right past whatever the other person believes (or disbelieves) about the supernatural, and assumes "sinner" means the same to them as it does to you.

It doesn't. Cut it out, please.

The only way to have real discussions regarding the supernatural is to leave as much bias and presupposition at the door as possible. When both parties are willing to admit that their current understanding--no matter how logical--is not absolute, then people are really thinking and ready to discuss.

In all of these discussions, we see both sides assuming they are right from the outset. They demand the other side release their bias and be willing to reason with them, without first giving the same courtesy.

If we're going to talk, then let's talk. If you want to push an unbending agenda of evangelism (this goes for both sides), then why bother?

There is always something to be gained from the insights of others, no matter what their beliefs. Dismissal is for people who are afraid of what might happen if they step outside their box.

It being corrupt is up to interpretation I think.
But I do agree with you that the only reason the bible and the constitution are taken as living breathing documents happen to be attributed to the desires of ones who "want" them to be exactly that.
People who are afraid to step on the toes of their ancestors I think...but then inversely you have the constitution which has remained unchanged since inception(outside of the amendments of course, but those are addendums) and then you have the bible, where you have tagged at the end "don't remove or add anything to this" in so many words.
And it just makes me wonder why so much divinity is attributed to these guys who wrote/named themselves on it.
I don't say this to discredit the Christ of Christianity....but i just find a word of god that can only exist in the imagination of yesteryear to be a poor answer at best.
Looking up to a Christ-like figure should be more for values rather than the words of man I think...sorry I'm ranting on this now lol.
I was thinking about this earlier after having a chat with a few of my...forceful Christian relatives.
sorry this kinda ended on a rant point.
I should have ended the post earlier but I wanted to let my mind flow a bit to relieve tension.

I wanted to say more on some things on this but my mind does not have the eternal clarity that I think it should, working on that though.

lol I was always too into real superheroes to make room for whatever Bibleman was.

IMO, stuff like Bibleman is exactly what is killing Christianity. That is, the day churches began marketing their faith in order to shield current adherents and attract more adherents, was the day they sold out and began killing their own religion.

I've studied the Bible pretty extensively, and I've yet to find the part where Jesus tells his followers to mimic secular culture, including turning their churches into businesses which sell different styles of following him.
