Though I did get to go as SAM last week, but that was only because we had a surplus of BLMs. I will say though that if I can break free from SCH, it's BLU or gtfo (not really, but it'd be nice to have that power). Being a melee sucks, gotta run through 5-6 DDs just to get to the mob, then it only lasts a few seconds.

That's pretty much the reason I won't level BLM. I'm 95% sure if I do, my SCH will never see the light of day again, nuking-wise, lol.

Back when I started out, I was a PLD. First job, had a great time leveling it. I never lacked for a pt. Thing is at 75 no one wants a "new" pld for stuff. You have no merits and you have no gear.

I leveled BLM with an eye towards doing end-game. Fact is no LS can never have enough BLM's even elvaan ones. BLM is totally what's allowed me to do alot of the things I've done in game that I wouldn't have had a chance if all I had was pld.

For record, my PLD actually sees the light of day now. What with all the gear and merits I have been able to get for it over the years. :)

LS i get in, LS that lack in Plds, must have a curse or something, i dont even have it merited or with nice gear, but still get asked to go Pld 90% of time :S
I liked it at start but after being near a year stuck with it i got tired, i really hate it XD

Meh the shells I've been in I've needed to be just about everything depending on the situation. It's part of the reason I put off lvling another job for so long and worked hard and long and spending stupid amounts of money on the 75s I have lol. Cept thf. Once I started spending lots on it everyone else seemed to have a TH *** that didn't have anything else useful

You don't need to do anything, you can choose not to do the fight, or do something else, right?

What I think you are saying is you want to do the fight, and in order to do it you have to have some various job, and you are the only person with that job in your group.

That's not the same as shells that tell people "You have to come brd or we will kick you out of the shell." That is what we don't do..

i have 8 jobs, so go wonder.

Some aren't even to that extent... some of it has to deal with: "Well if I don't come this job we won't win" for some LS's. yeah there are some that are hardcore "We will kick you if you don't do this" but some actually can't do certain things unless certain people are on specific jobs cause their jobs may or may not be replaceable. I'd hate for someone to come PUP to a fight when they had SAM and SAM woulda been more useful just because "they didn't feel like it."

I just think it's good for people to take breaks from things they find tedious and maybe try new things out. If the case is "Well if you don't come this job we won't win" I would rather not do the fight then make someone do something they didn't want to.

Lots of jobs can play lots of roles if you get creative too.. we have used Cor's as tanks and Blu's as main heal before.. it's fun to be flexible like that, and let people play their charters they way they know best.. I guess it's a difference in opinion but I just hear people complain about it non stop.. I mean the purpose of this thread is to complain right? Why not just make it different and stop forcing people to come as what you or what your leader thinks they should?

Thats how we ended up like that.. everyone got sick of the bitching and stupid rules in other endgame shells. I was once in one that had 97 rules. I'm not shitting you.

If you are doing something and you will lose without a certain set of jobs then yes it is pretty much need to. I mean sure you can say no one is making you. You could also just not play the game

I honestly don't care what people come as as long as it's useful. One thing I hate is this: People asking, "What job should I come as" and then *** and whine when you give them a job you think is most useful. Don't ask if you don't want to be told what to come as.

The whole reason people ask for certain jobs is if you want something from a certain event you should be willing to come something you dislike if you expect any type of personal gain from it. There's a difference to someone forcing you to come a certain job and someone suggesting. I'm not forced to play any job but I play jobs that benefit my linkshell to the fullest and I play that job 24/7 even though I have 9 other jobs I could or rather be playing. A lot of people don't look at it this way and only think of themselves though. If you enjoy doing events and being around the ls you like it shouldn't matter what job you are or have to be playing. Yeah doing the same job 24/7 gets annoying, I've been doing it for over 4 years but if it's such a problem then just don't go to the event. No one can make you do anything in game, and if they kick you from LS for it then what? Not like you wanted to do the event as a certain job anyway so it's really not your loss nor is it theirs.

Thats pretty rigid thinking. You assume that you need to be doing something or that you even need to win it, neither is true and therefore "pretty much" needing to do something you don't want to is also not true. The desire for you to do the fight or event is what drives you to do it. Kinda weird you would convince yourself that you are forced to do something even when it's clear you are not.. maybe you want to believe you are forced to do it because that makes it easer.. I don't really know but I can see I'm not going to convince you otherwise.. I mean.. this *is* the internet after all where nobody is ever wrong, but you might want to think about it..

Perhaps you missed the whole you could argue you don't have to play the game part.

And yes turns out you do need to do stuff to win fights. Mobs don't just fall over and die at the sight of more then 2 people in a pt together. Therefore yes sometimes you need certain jobs or at the very least need certain jobs to compliment the limit other ones you have to work with.
