It's taking a year because they have no resources and are using a skeleton crew, and probably taking a conservative approach. Assuming everything is greed because you're bitter and angry at a game you don't play is just weird. Everything isn't greed. Stop obsessing.

It absolutely is corporate greed, there is no reason at all that they could not hire people to work on this game considering how much it makes a year. This is why they downsized the team a few years ago, stop sucking their balls.

I do play the game the way I want to play it (if I was not, I would not be here at all), I also do PAY to play it. Who the fk are you to tell me I can't complain about what I'm paying for?
prove that you play.

At least they are keeping their word and acting on player feedback from player survey, where people said they wanted more solo content and opportunities to progress solo. Trust updates, Limbus, Besieged all fit that criteria, no matter how bad it may be for player experience

The problem is the trust updates could have been content for casual players, and instead you just get a monthly allowance linked to doing 4 monthly RoE objectives.

Most of the new content sucks donkey ***, so for many casual players that was content they were looking forward to. To level them up.

Many people leveled their fellow to max, just cause it was fun to do ery day. They could have done that with trusts, then everyone would be out in random places doing it. Instead they did it in the most crap way possible, and to get as much sub money out of people via fomo.

Casual players already complain that they find every CP/EP camp on Asura to be completely full. Implementing a new leveling system for trusts where nobody would ever be willing to party up might actually make this complaint true. Literally everyone would be out soloing (botting) away by themselves for hours in order to get their Trusts leveled up. There would have to be some limit on how many levels could be earned per x unit of time, or per area, or something similar to keep this idea from being a shitshow. Yeah I know, just Asura problems, but congestion is surely something that Fujito is considering these days.

He seems to think casual players want to login and do Limbus or something, I can assure him nobody likes Limbus. Leveling trusts with level cap quests, even if it was just a copy and paste of the fellow system would have been better than what he did with it.

It's currently just login, get your 4 monthly RoE objectives and done for the month. Repeat for over a year, it's literally FOMO BS of the most low effort kind.

Someone even asked if they could just get them all at the end and he admitted, no you have to sub every month to get them and if you miss a month it extends the time it takes.

You have to be absolutely mental if you think leveling trusts as a system is better than a "one and done" approach with primers. We don't even have to guess, we have history as proof; They designed an entire capped Moogle Mastery system and it went largely ignored even during the height of Odyssey, and it superpowered trusts significantly inside Odyssey. And they're still trash against anything that matters in there. If you've been playing FFXI for any number of years, the value of trusts goes down the more advanced you are. They're literally buff batteries, not pride projects like raising chocobos or adventuring fellows. If you take a good six months off from the game, you will miss next to nothing from primers and powering up trusts. You can't even use them on ***besides MLs, Limbus you're limited to 3 and Sortie is laughable solo.

I will grind for 6 months for a Prime weapon or Sworn set, or whatever. Not for a shitty 10 levels (because I ALREADY DID THAT MM45) on Qultada so he can interrupt my SCs even faster. FOH with that.

A mindless, casual grind that you can log on and do everyday? You're basically describing Limbus which you rightly pointed out that nobody likes. Why would doing essentially the same thing for the sake of trusts be any better?

This is pretty much where I'm at. I would appreciate help NOW to dig into end game content not in a year. Not sure why they couldn't AT MINIMUM simply extend the trust campaign buffs to be permanent - i.e. better magic evasion and 50% more HP/MP. Seems like a no brainer but what do I know.

Seems like the suggestion was that it would be better to have control over how fast they improve rather than waiting a year + while having to stay subbed the whole time. If so, it wouldn't be a fun way to do it, but at least you would see results faster.

He's making both points, but I'm responding to the notion that it would be "good content for casual players." Because if Limbus isn't good content (which is the correct assessment), then having to grind trusts up would be similarly not good content. I mean, just look at KRT. . . does it look like the XI player base really enjoys that type of good, casual content?

I mean I don't mind Limbus as much. It's casual content, you can pick it up and drop it whenever, can take random setups for MLs.

Last thing XI needs is another sweaty hardcore time limited dungeon with meta setups.

On the contrary, Limbus IS "good" content for "casual players", as far as the structure and rewards. You can acquire the best gear in the game with just time investment, and you don't even need to be top tier. Complete scrub or R30 everything, you can do Limbus every day solo or group fast or slow. Has nothing to do with skill, it's just time, which is a perfect formula for casual content. I have done limbus with players who have terrible gear or are pretty crap DD for 135, but they have max Alabaster Earring and Murky Ring. I don't have any augments on either, because I haven't put the same time as them. Kudos to them for being able to get rewards without being completely shut out due to the difficulty curve. Now compare that to Odyssey Gaol, where most players will never hit R30 Nyame or T3 gear.

Now is Limbus "good" content in the sense of it being enjoyable? You can be the judge, but it's based on a different factors. The style of it being grindy/open world is kinda meh. Some veteran players don't like that kind of structure and wished it was Instanced 1x/day like segments. It's a lag fest for me, and the time investment is also a pain point for players. I have heard less people complain about Sortie than Limbus. However, some players actually enjoy having something to do every day/week, so I could understand that some people enjoy Limbus because it keeps them busy. There's never the excuse that you have nothing to do, because next week it's all reset. It's kind of the perfect content for SE to design, from their point of view.

Limbus is kind of funny in that it is super approachable for casual players, but at the same time, the time sink is so intense for a single piece of gear set months out that I'd think casual players would end up spending their time on content with more imminent rewards. Super casual combat paired with super sweaty time grind. Maybe that's why it's so unpopular: too grindy for casuals, too boring for sweats. Nobody's happy.

XI has never and will never have a shortage of things you could do. You could still be grinding salvage everyday for your 60th mythic.

A severe lack of things you want to do however.

Limbus is exactly that, forever content you really don't want to do.
