Separate point, the jp forums have been nothing but "*** this" and they're normally such bootlickers, it's nice to see.
...They're still obviously doing it, and we're still obviously going to pass the 12m goal and they're obviously going to only make minor changes in response, because it's clearly successful etc

Even if you get doctor status, a rune item isn't guaranteed
My main, which has had doctor status forever, went 1/3 on the rune. The first two alts I tried, having never done this before, got fresh doctor statuses and both went 1/1. At least now I have extra chips and cores. I'll be interested to see what happens with other alts or if I just got lucky.
I do think this is better than the last round. We're on day 3-4 and we're able to get t2 already. I was concerned about the bottled pixies, but have been able to do it on 3 chars already without much headache.

Although, if you do the bronzite + cluster trade x3 to the Curator Moogle (knocking out THAT objective), you end up with... three colored chips in your inventory, that you can use to trade to the strange apparatus. Greatly increasing your odds, since you just need 1/3 of your chips to be a winner and give a rune weapon. Then if you really need more tries, get more chips? They're still available from NPCs too (21k gil each), or the Curator Moogle again for slightly more with the bronzite trade if the store is closed for the day and you JUST CAN'T WAIT.
Phoenix.Madotsuki said: »Normally I agree pretty often with your thoughts Capuchin but I will chime that I feel 5 turn ins of egg sets is a bit excessive. I think 3 would've been a more reasonable middle ground while still encouraging people to engage with the seasonal event, but that one is just my opinion!
3 instead of 5 does sounds reasonable, but I'm not THAT bothered by 5. It's a 10 day span to do five trades for the event, which is no massive time investment.
I'm not sure people realize how low the bar is for completion. Grab three letter eggs to make the first three letters of your name, or there are other fairly easy combinations like "F E S", "I C E", "A I R"... Trade those to moogle. That's it.
You can get more random eggs every new game day by talking to the moogle, and if in a party with another player you guarantee one egg of their first initial. Can get extra eggs by trading items, like 3 per hour from trading a stack of Sairui-ran (5k/stack from curio moogle). LightningHelix noted this above, it's really not much work.
After the (not very massive) struggle of getting the first three letters of your name, can just afk at the moogle NPC and wait for a new game day to get more eggs every hour. It's practically zero effort. And there are players with eggs in bazaars near the NPCs in the three cities. And as more people engage with the event due to vanabout, likely more eggs and letters available in bazaars too (an actual positive to having everyone crowding into one easy event or high population servers, as opposed to a negative from a lot of people competing for a resource).
P.S., don't be a jerk, if you have eggs you don't need and you're AFK at the NPCs, put em up in bazaar! Everyone wins, people get their letters faster.
...you still have to spent like 10 combined hours collecting eggs though.
To be more precise, you have to spend like 10 seconds per real life hour to get another 5 random eggs per character. Don't make it sound like it's 10 hours of actual work, just afk by the moogle when you're doing something else and occasionally look up to talk to NPCs. Or set your HP there and just get in the habit of quickly talking to the moogle for more eggs when you happen to drop by. It's not something you have to do in a day, you have the entire Vana'bout period. Hardly an epic ordeal.

Bottled Pixies weren't that bad. I did my 4/4 for two characters all in the span of less than an hour last night. Bring a White Mage (or Recall-Meriph and Recall-Pash ring).
1) Recall-Meriph ( EDIT: alternately, Survival Guide to Meriph[S])
2) Hop on a mount and ride a short way east to Castle Oztroja. Kill Yagudo High Priests or Sentinels if they're up outside of the castle entrance, if none are up just go inside the castle - there are plenty more and I saw way less competition for pops. High Priests drop bottled pixies at what appears to be a 100% rate (reporting otherwise might not account for kills where all party members already had the Rare-tagged item). Note that Bottled Pixies CAN also drop from other Yagudo types (Zealots for sure), at a lower rate than the High Priests.
You can also go find other beastmen who drop Bottled Pixies, but Yags worked well for me and are convenient for the Recall travel.
3) Recall-Pash, enter the conflux right next to your landing spot, use the conflux inside to get to Witchfire Glen and trade your bottled pixie to the spot at the top of the nearby waterfall. Then Recall-Meriph (step #1) again and repeat.
By LightningHelix 2026-03-23 12:46:55
Recall-Meriph is slower than the Meriphataud Mountains [S] Survival Guide, which is deliberately placed right next to the entrance of Castle Oztroja [S].
(so set HP to East Adoulin 2 and do warp -> SG -> Recall-Passh -> repeat)

Either way, Recall or book are both close. I did it with 2 in party and one WHM, so Recall was easier for me since could just cast it wherever and not even bother warping/zoning to go to a book and move through the menu. Like I said, low effort lol.
Also, I found there were several people sitting right at the survival guide who just wouldn't even notice high priests popping in the general vicinity. Easier for me to just ride on through on mount and then hop into Castle if nothing is up outside.

If you need to farm a lot of bottled pixies at once, there are something like 6-7 High Priests in the first area of Oztroja, possibly on a slightly longer but not unreasonable spawn timer.

Yeah, and as you go further into the castle there are even more. Doesn't take that long to find one. And competition tends to cycle out once they get the 100% drop from a High Priest (since the item is R/E, so each character can only hold one at a time and there's a need to go turn in the pixie and then return).
I'd definitely recommend going inside the Castle if doing in a party and trying to get drops for multiple people, a lot more spawns in there. You'll probably get it faster than waiting outside in Meriph for the small number (1? 2?) of High Priests there.

Dude shhh, I've got like 5 other characters who still need to farm these, lol. Yeah, they're 100%. I just survival guide to meriph(s) and then to graub and hoof it so there's time for warp rings to replenish.

There are 19 High Priest spawns in the Castle, and 5 outside in Meriphataud. It's not exactly a super rare mob. And it has 100% drop rate on the item. And other Yagudo (Sentinels) can also drop the Bottled Pixie at a lower rate. And people have to zone and turn it in once they get theirs.
Even with competition out there, it shouldn't take a long time. There was competition when I got my 8 pixies, and I still knocked it out within an hour.
Similarly, I didn't even start the egg event until this morning. ~4 hours later and mostly AFK or off doing other stuff in-game while waiting on new game days, I am fully done on my main and 4/5 complete on my alt. A few eggs purchased from bazaar and using two characters, but otherwise not even requiring any real cooperation with others. If I was feeling social enough to get one of my friends with an "A" name to come out and briefly join my party, I'd get the last A egg I need and be finished with both characters already. If I don't get it before then, I'll just grab an "A" friend the next time we're on and doing something else.
Edit: ah, next game day I got my "A". Took me about 6 hours from start time, with maybe 10 minutes of actual work in that window, to completely finish two characters from scratch. No other partying up, bought like 3 eggs from other people's bazaars, and have bazaared my spares so other people can finish faster (sold some and still have ~14 different letters in my bazaar for 10k for whoever needs them, 30-something total eggs).

I believe this one in particular only spawns when Meriphataud Mountains is under control of the Beastmen. The one by the Survival Guide still shows up regardless of area control.

As a crossover with all the people levelling digging for the first time - Bottled pixies are diggable in every [S] zone between 06:00 and 18:00. Get one/day for the rest of the week and you'll finish the objective.

Quote: First of all, I really want them to do something about the fact that it's not cooperation at all, but just a constant struggle for limited resources.
They're saying "let's work together" on the special page and stuff, but it's not like they're working together at all, is it? Quote: Despite what they said, the difficulty of the objectives here hasn't changed, and the overall effort required has increased compared to last time.
Previously, Ambuscade-related objectives overlapped between the time period and the daily quests, so those who could do Chapter 1 on Very Difficult could complete multiple at the same time (which meant a big difference between those who could and couldn't, so this time the entry barrier has been lowered).
This time there's no such overlap, so you have to complete them one by one.
On top of that, the number of daily objectives has increased, so the total burden is higher than before, and players are also competing to collect flint and rosary for the same day's objectives. There's competition for multiple objectives,
and it seems many developers' predictions about the actual playtime required by players are far off.
Also, the number of times required to complete objectives during the event period remains the same.
There are still four Pixies, and although Colonize moved within the period, the number of completions is five.
On the other hand, the number of daily completions has been added up and reduced by one because the period is shorter.
The developers' requirements for completion remain the same, so it's not at all easier to play.
On top of this, there's the usual BC congestion, random rune equipment, and behind-the-scenes competition, and I think the fact that it just takes so much time is increasing player stress.

That's the general idea. Purposely naive.

"TRADE!? nah *** you're gonna buy these eggs I botted all night"
Quote: You get a key if you collect all the FES eggs in the egg hunt, but
because of that, nobody wants to give away their FES eggs, so they don't circulate and have become rare eggs

I've had 0 issues trading for eggs. Have also been given eggs, and gave away eggs.
If you really need a specific letter you can't find (likely F, E, or S), party up with someone with those letters in the first two characters of their name and talk to the moogle and you are guaranteed the letters. Or do AIR and just get the objective done.
Talking to other people in an MMO does seem like a foreign concept these days.
Anyway, dailies for today:
A Star is Born (Star orb BCNM)
A Flawless Technique (Synth a HQ item)
Jingly
Something Fishy (trade a bastore sardine)
Stock and Awe

Day 4 Objectives:
- Jingly (Play Mancala Mandragora Mania once)
- A Flawless Technique (HQ Synth twice)
- Stock and Awe (Complete any Stock and Awe Campaign Op once)
- A Star is Born (Complete a BCNM40, uses a Star Orb)
- Something Fishy (Give Tokaka in Port Windurst [C-8] 1 Bastore Sardine. You can buy this from your Green Thumb Moogle if you have Rank 3 Monster Rearing unlocked)
By ilugmat 2026-03-24 10:39:13
You would think they would add two tiers of these, once you get a certain amount of points it unlocks the 2nd tier of objectives (that a lot of people wouldn't even reach).
This way the casual people and the hardcore ones chasing leaderboards would do different daily objectives and not cause so much congestion to each other.

This is (was) my go to. Taking cook from 0>5 with corn got 2 HQ and is basically free. Switch to orange juice around 5-10 If you manage to hit 10 the rank up is basically free too, then next round it'll go slightly faster.

I got a Rune weapon 1/1 on one character. Second character went 1/3, got cermet chunks two times before getting Rune Arrows on the 3rd try. I brought plenty of Yellow Chips and Infinity Cores for my attempts (farmed up like 9 cores in mostly empty Dyna-San d'Oria).
Both characters had pre-existing Doctor status, I did not get it immediately before these trades. Gusgen Mines, and I wasn't paying attention to day of the week (which can impact cermet vs runic items).

Forget the HQ synth objective; what's the preferred Star Orb fight/strat?
[+]
So, I don't think there needs to be a new thread. That was the point of not calling this "the fourth bout" etc.
Everything is basically locked in, as it were. The objectives may change slightly but by and large you can assume they're going to be more or less the same.
Do (element) damage.
Do a skillchain and/or burst.
Live through a buscade.
Cure and/or Raise someone.
Do one of the five minor bcnm/orb fights. (use bsts/pups for automatic wins)
Fish and/or craft.
Run the bird.
Not expecting anything radically different. The event is the same, the rewards are the same, no point in much discussion really.
The sortie crates are not special in any way. Still random. Segment campaign is still spectacularly mediocre. We will certainly hit the 150% goals. Blah blah blah.
I think we all know the deal by now. And as much fun as it was to shit on the first 3, I expect all the fun has been sucked out of it going forward.
Everything is pretty well explained.
(VBD) Are dailies
(VB) Are Totals for the whole event
It's all simple shit, Win an Ambuscade. Don't die in ambuscade. Do obscure minigame. Pet/poke/etc your rearing monster. Chocobo dig. Fish.
Don't forget to wake up early and do Day Zero Dailies.
