Separate point, the jp forums have been nothing but "*** this" and they're normally such bootlickers, it's nice to see.

...They're still obviously doing it, and we're still obviously going to pass the 12m goal and they're obviously going to only make minor changes in response, because it's clearly successful etc

Even if you get doctor status, a rune item isn't guaranteed

My main, which has had doctor status forever, went 1/3 on the rune. The first two alts I tried, having never done this before, got fresh doctor statuses and both went 1/1. At least now I have extra chips and cores. I'll be interested to see what happens with other alts or if I just got lucky.

I do think this is better than the last round. We're on day 3-4 and we're able to get t2 already. I was concerned about the bottled pixies, but have been able to do it on 3 chars already without much headache.

Although, if you do the bronzite + cluster trade x3 to the Curator Moogle (knocking out THAT objective), you end up with... three colored chips in your inventory, that you can use to trade to the strange apparatus. Greatly increasing your odds, since you just need 1/3 of your chips to be a winner and give a rune weapon. Then if you really need more tries, get more chips? They're still available from NPCs too (21k gil each), or the Curator Moogle again for slightly more with the bronzite trade if the store is closed for the day and you JUST CAN'T WAIT.

Normally I agree pretty often with your thoughts Capuchin but I will chime that I feel 5 turn ins of egg sets is a bit excessive. I think 3 would've been a more reasonable middle ground while still encouraging people to engage with the seasonal event, but that one is just my opinion!

3 instead of 5 does sounds reasonable, but I'm not THAT bothered by 5. It's a 10 day span to do five trades for the event, which is no massive time investment.

I'm not sure people realize how low the bar is for completion. Grab three letter eggs to make the first three letters of your name, or there are other fairly easy combinations like "F E S", "I C E", "A I R"... Trade those to moogle. That's it.

You can get more random eggs every new game day by talking to the moogle, and if in a party with another player you guarantee one egg of their first initial. Can get extra eggs by trading items, like 3 per hour from trading a stack of Sairui-ran (5k/stack from curio moogle). LightningHelix noted this above, it's really not much work.

After the (not very massive) struggle of getting the first three letters of your name, can just afk at the moogle NPC and wait for a new game day to get more eggs every hour. It's practically zero effort. And there are players with eggs in bazaars near the NPCs in the three cities. And as more people engage with the event due to vanabout, likely more eggs and letters available in bazaars too (an actual positive to having everyone crowding into one easy event or high population servers, as opposed to a negative from a lot of people competing for a resource).

P.S., don't be a jerk, if you have eggs you don't need and you're AFK at the NPCs, put em up in bazaar! Everyone wins, people get their letters faster.

...you still have to spent like 10 combined hours collecting eggs though.

To be more precise, you have to spend like 10 seconds per real life hour to get another 5 random eggs per character. Don't make it sound like it's 10 hours of actual work, just afk by the moogle when you're doing something else and occasionally look up to talk to NPCs. Or set your HP there and just get in the habit of quickly talking to the moogle for more eggs when you happen to drop by. It's not something you have to do in a day, you have the entire Vana'bout period. Hardly an epic ordeal.

Bottled Pixies weren't that bad. I did my 4/4 for two characters all in the span of less than an hour last night. Bring a White Mage (or Recall-Meriph and Recall-Pash ring).

1) Recall-Meriph (EDIT: alternately, Survival Guide to Meriph[S])

2) Hop on a mount and ride a short way east to Castle Oztroja. Kill Yagudo High Priests or Zealots if they're up outside of the castle entrance, if none are up just go inside the castle - there are plenty more and I saw way less competition for pops. High Priests drop bottled pixies at what appears to be a 100% rate (reporting otherwise might not account for kills where all party members already had the Rare-tagged item). Note that Bottled Pixies CAN also drop from other Yagudo types (Zealots for sure), at a lower rate than the High Priests.

You can also go find other beastmen who drop Bottled Pixies, but Yags worked well for me and are convenient for the Recall travel.

3) Recall-Pash, enter the conflux right next to your landing spot, use the conflux inside to get to Witchfire Glen and trade your bottled pixie to the spot at the top of the nearby waterfall. Then Recall-Meriph (step #1) again and repeat.

Recall-Meriph is slower than the Meriphataud Mountains [S] Survival Guide, which is deliberately placed right next to the entrance of Castle Oztroja [S].

(so set HP to East Adoulin 2 and do warp -> SG -> Recall-Passh -> repeat)

Either way, Recall or book are both close. I did it with 2 in party and one WHM, so Recall was easier for me since could just cast it wherever and not even bother warping/zoning to go to a book and move through the menu. Like I said, low effort lol.

Also, I found there were several people sitting right at the survival guide who just wouldn't even notice high priests popping in the general vicinity. Easier for me to just ride on through on mount and then hop into Castle if nothing is up outside.

If you need to farm a lot of bottled pixies at once, there are something like 6-7 High Priests in the first area of Oztroja, possibly on a slightly longer but not unreasonable spawn timer.

Yeah, and as you go further into the castle there are even more. Doesn't take that long to find one. And competition tends to cycle out once they get the 100% drop from a High Priest (since the item is R/E, so each character can only hold one at a time and there's a need to go turn in the pixie and then return).

I'd definitely recommend going inside the Castle if doing in a party and trying to get drops for multiple people, a lot more spawns in there. You'll probably get it faster than waiting outside in Meriph for the small number (1? 2?) of High Priests there.
