When i get the time, i'd like to talk about this one. It's a very very interesting topic.
Short answer is love exists but not as a single entity that most people assume.
As a concept or idea, the adage goes, if you can think it, it exists. But as an emotion or force, well that gets a bit trickier to pin down.
I will say though, this one is fun, that we have shown fear to be more substantial in affecting people than love. It ain't number one any more.

In my opinion it stands as a concept, idea, theory that varies by definition and purpose person to person, but can be put into fruition by power of will. Not much different than (by example:) an authority figure or community assembling a republic by which to lead its people.
It has the power to do amazing things and influence a great deal of action by one or more person. However, as any other idea or theory, it is subject to change and misinterpretation.

Anyways not everyone accepts love and like anything else we can't prove either way we believe because of want not because it has any basis in logic or reality.
If anything it exist as an idea because we want it to.

Do I believe in love? To a degree, yes. I don't see love as some transient entity or spiritual thing. To me it's nothing more than an emotion. A chemical reaction in the body. We are hardwired to seek out mates and reproduce. It's instinct. Beyond that I don't give it much thought.
I'm often heard saying the following: "Sure I've loved people. Girlfriends, friends, family. But I've never loved anyone more than I love myself."
