The game Humans vs. Zombies is a rapidly spreading game on over 50 college campuses nationwide. Each school has it's own specific set of rules tailored to it individually by the founders of the game at that school, but the general rules are as follows:

Players at all times wear a bandanna. Humans wear it around their arm, Zombies around their head. All players start as a human, with the exception of one. This is the so-called "Original Zombie". This zombie is exempt from the bandanna rule for 24 hours from the beginning of the game. Once that period is up, they too must wear a bandanna on their head.

The objective for the humans is to survive. The objective for the zombies is to convert all humans to zombies, which can be done with a simple tag anywhere on the body. Humans, in their defense, can throw a clean, balled up sock, or shoot the zombie with a foam dart gun to stun the zombie. A stunned zombie is basically out of the game for 15 minutes. After that, the zombie is reinstated with no further penalties.

Zombies must tag a human every 48 hours or "starve" to death. Each player is given an ID card at the beginning of the game, which is furnished to a zombie when the human player is tagged. The zombie then reports their "kill" using this number, resetting their starve timer.

The boundaries of this game are the campus grounds, and all indoor locations such as classroom buildings and dorm rooms are safe zones. Shooting non-players or inappropriate behavior are bannable offenses. There are several moderators in charge of running the game and maintaining order. Players must obey the moderators if they intervene in any situation, or risk being banned.
