April 2022 Version Update
SE is far too lazy to have different loot pools for BBLT's and LT's
Also here is a run a close friend of mine got yesterday, add it to the data pile Is there supposed to be a Freshly Picked this month?
Asura.Iamaman said: » Is there supposed to be a Freshly Picked this month? Why they are not previewing Anything at this point is beyond me. It either means they have nothing or are just dim as *** about promotion. I'm a life-long lurker so not sure if I meet posting reqs.
Greyson's message is just a poor translation. It's basically, Want to know about BBs? Well here is an explanation of all noises. His first comment about the lid hitting the back of the chest is describing "noise, thud, Loud Thud" His statement about 3 chests and other treasure being on the field is about belligerent bangs. BB means there is a LT among the brown chests. SimonSes said: » Sorry I'm sure you missed this sentence Simon, my concern is not with the garbage being in BBLT also. Vaerix said: » Lakshmi.Buukki said: » Sounds pretty clear to me it's about LTs: Belligerent Bangs Noise = common trash Thud = Uncommon drops, slightly rare drops Loud Thud = Between Slightly Rare/Rare drops and Ultra Rare drops Belligerent Bang Loud Thud = Rare-Ultra Rare drops It's also possible that these enhanced LTs have always existed prior to this month, and SE just implemented a way to know for certain if a LT will reward something good. Or, it could be neither, and LTs share the exact same pool, and BB message is simply giving you hints about it. ... I'm not saying that Belligerent Bang Loud Thuds can't have garbage, but it's the chance at Ultra Rare that matters to me when it comes to Trove. i think that because se loves the number 11, and always holds 11-themed events, you should assume any loud thud that isn't occuring at :11 on the game clock can't have ultra rare items
this is about as logical as what you're saying, and surely you wouldn't want to overlook a chance at getting ultra rare items, so pay close attention to the timer Out of 84 mars orbs I received 4 freebies from Greyson. Just FYI.
Odin.Stayfresh said: » You are just making this way more difficult than it needs to be. All the new things they added to trove can be from any loud thud. But now instead of just getting garbage cursed gear, it can be garbage cursed gear or dyna shards that are falling so fast in price they will be garbage soon too. (Thorny sneaks in a post before me, I’m answering Vaerix not Thorny :p The whole point of this is I do not believe the bolded part is true. And given the little evidence we have so far none of which supporting your statement, I'd say it's incorrect. With the fact that belligerent bangs do not appear for all loud thuds it also bears repeating that this cannot be just: "There's a loud thud present". Again, someone posted the Japanese origin statement and Google translated it to show what belligerent bang says in Japanese, I'd love to see what Greyson says about the belligerent bangs for the event from the Japanese side to see if there are localization errors possible. I think the community consensus is: BB means there's a LT in the room unopened, nothing more.
The translation issue I was pointing out has nothing to do with the meaning of Belligerent. The entire message by Greyson is a poor translation. Here, I will explain.
Greyson is saying oh you want to know about that belligerent bang? well the noises of chests mean something, the lid hitting the back of the box makes a loud sound depending on the equipment inside. After you open three chests, you may hear one of these chests bang from opening one near by. So, he is saying Quality of gear changes the sound that chest makes... Sometimes that sound will be echoed in the opening of an adjacent chest. It's a poor translation of the entire concept. Was posting under an irrelevant old name... I should probably start posting on ffxiah more lol.
Re-reading that last post I made, I see how I might leave people confused so here is a thorough explanation of what Greyson is telling us. Greyson: "Ah, yes. The good old belligerent bangs. The sound that the treasure makes when you eagerly open it, flinging the lid open and slamming it onto the back of the chest, has some correlation with whether or not the chest's reward is great or merely "good". (He is not talking about Beligerent Bangs here, he is explaining "the sound that the treasure makes" as in the sound made by chests when they are opened. Noise, Thud, Loud Thud.) Particularly astute adventurers will also note that opening a chest can provide a clue as to whether or not any of the remaining chests have particularly valuable rewards. (If there is another LT on the field (a particularly valuable reward) a chest can provide a clue... the Beligerent Bang. This loops back into the lore of the first statement, the equipment is great and generates a sound. When you open another chest, you can hear that sound coming from the LT chest that you are not currently opening) However, it takes a few treasure chests to be able to properly triangulate your internal sensing systems. Opening three should be sufficient." (This happens sometimes after 3 chests) The main differences in the English to Japanese, is the JP confirms that the LT BB is in a brown chest, and the jp explains it as the sound echoing from another chest. Also, as another thought because I haven't seen anyone mention this. The surge in availability of af/dyna upgrades and frequency of HTBF drops increasing is a pretty good indication that some hard content is coming next month. I know most of you don't want to get your hopes up, but they did these changes specifically in April for a reason.

I would wager real-life cash money that the designers who wrote Greyson's dialogue don't actually know how this event works either. That goes tenfold for the US translation team. The one person they hired to program this event just gave the writers some list of onomatopeias and the writers improvised the rest. The programmer probably didn't even document his code either. The rules of this event are lost to time forever Odin.Lusiphur said: » Asura.Iamaman said: » Is there supposed to be a Freshly Picked this month? My expectation at this point is we'll get an announcement next month and that is it, but I'd like to be surprised. I know most of you don't want to get your hopes up, but they did these changes specifically in April for a reason. It's also possible or likely that whatever content that is coming will render those pieces of equipment less viable or useful, so they stuck them in Trove, figuring people would be moving on. Hard to imagine that'd be the case for the shards, though, especially given how they gave us alternative paths to unlock only recently. Phoenix.Dabackpack said: » The programmer probably didn't even document his code either. Asura.Iamaman said: » Hard to imagine that'd be the case for the shards, though, especially given how they gave us alternative paths to unlock only recently. That's just SE's way of routinely easing the requirements on older gear/content so that people aren't stuck playing catch up when (nearly) nobody bothers farming Dynamis anymore and the shard supply will basically be extinct on smaller servers. They've made adjustments to older content like Omen scales recently, even though that event is several years old. I wouldn't correlate anything with regards to gear value from their simply following the same routine. Then all the BB loud thuds I have opened shouldn’t all be garbage dyna shards by your way of thinking. My line of thinking is, the only way to get access to the higher level (ultra rare) drops, is BBLT chests. How is the fact that you got anything other than that against what I have said? Higher chance of better loot (and the only chance at the best loot) doesn't mean 0 chance of bad loot. Since you both fail to understand what I've posted prior to this let me explain. A Belligerent Bang Loud Thud(BBLT™) is a quality of wooden chest (can also be the center chest quality but you receive no notification if it is). If you open the specific BBLT prior to opening 3 other chests to be notified of the presence of the BBLT you never receive the Belligerent Bang, but the quality of loot is still the BBLT. In the evident that someone opens 8 consecutive chests without a mimic, the final 9th chest is replaced by either a thud or a loud thud to demonstrate the proper choice. There is a chance that the loud thud could be a BBLT as I have explained 4 times now. You would not receive any notification prior to the 9th chest because it was created/replaced/selected AFTER the other chests have already been opened. If you look through the thread, or check your own logs, you will see that any of the equipment from malignance, crepuscular or volte sets all were obtained during: A: a loud thud prior to 3 chests being opened to receive notification. B: a loud thud from chest 9 after being replaced. C: a loud thud from the exit chest. D: preceded by belligerent bangs which cease after the specific chest is opened. Any evidence to the otherwise has not been posted to the forum because that is specifically what I've been asking for. you're an idiot
