I think they are doing it to return to a sense of normalcy after last year's event cycle was basically interrupted by the pandemic. Actually, they pretty much missed an entire Bonanza cycle. This will put them back on the February > May > August > November cycle for things again. I think these new Nomad Bonanzas will happen more frequently as well.
The developers are going all out on deflation measures. Ripping gil out of the economy.

how long is the account lockout if you mess up your password a lot of times. Tried guessing at an old accounts POL password a bunch before I realized I could just change it under the SE account settings, lol

in games where the amount of currency you can hold is capped you don't want items inching closer and closer to that cap, it creates an insanely toxic dynamic.
also seen a decent amount of people complaining that they bought items at X price and now they are Y price. while it may be true, you likely also botted sparks to get the items when they were at X price so the comparison is not legitimate. value of gil is up, it's a good thing

It's funny seeing people come back to the game after months and being mad that all the things they farm are selling for less, without taking into account that all the things they buy are also less by near the same %. So nothing actually changed but the number.

Such are the perils of no rules. Unpunished dupes. Unlimited resources from unlimited bots on unlimited accounts.
Yeah I getcha. I'm definitely not going to lose gil or anything, but I just wish things would sell faster on dead servers, ha

If you farm for more gil drops then you will get more gil. I think SE is merely shifting the gil generation from the mule legions into odyssey or something.
