They are mannequins dressed as the Ark Angels they haven't even used the cool race models that the AA have.

Buukki put Prov Watcher in my head and nothing else could satisfy. That's for later on when they release Neo Voidwatch

Crystal/White armor, bunch of fetters/underlings. Seemed like the next logical mega Mega boss (They did that with Bumba, everything purple >>>> Purple Dragon). Easiest play ever, so of course they DIDN'T do it twice. The mannequin wearing Shadowlord cosplay is gonna be *chef's kiss*

Something they haven't reused quite as recently is better IMO, and they haven't gone back to the AAs since Escha - Ru'Aun (which is now more than a decade ago, August 2015). Seems OK to me. Asura.Eiryl said: » Except they're in the master trial Well then, never mind! Guess that's one way to help show I don't do master trials! There's still Temenos. Don't give up hope!
I just got "Refresh +1" on a Colada from Magic -> Fern Stone. Is this normal or is it because there's a Dark Matter (x12) campaign on right now? ...I never really augmented weapons so if this is normal, please disregard.
Lakshmi.Buukki said: » NIN would be instantly busted if you could block AOE damage and not have shadows stripped. That's basically full time Battuta/Rampart? You won't get hit, won't lose shadows, and are a TP machine. I agree but but how about a chance per shadow up to block te AOE damaga lets say 20% per shadows (individueal rolled) You got 3 shadows up Shadow 1 rolls above 20 So lost that shadows shadow 2 rolls below 20 so it block the aor but is consumed Shadow 3 is saved so you still have 1 shadows up maybe tweak the numbers It's been discussed aplenty. Utsusemi is a very cool mechanic that's very hard to correctly balance. As such SE stopped to even try many years ago, leaving it relevant just in a couple of extremely niche situations I suppose. Which is still... something?
It's not a damage reduction, it completely negates any sort of damage. Easy to see how it's hard to "balance" something like that, even more so with the amount of haste and fast cast we have acess to these days, and even more with San and the +1 shadows items. Ironic that we get such incredible power ups to this mechanic, when the mechanic isn't particularly relevant anymore lol Shadows can already absorb multihit single target moves (they take multiple shadows and not one) and I think some AoE TP moves follow the same criteria. It's just not... all of them for some reason, and the same applies to aoe spells, which simply remove all shadows no matter what. Having a thing that gives you a certain % for a Shadow to absorb incoming AoE damage is a neat feat. A lot of people (myself included) thought about that in the past but: 1) Would it make a big difference? Relying on % isn't exactly something that allows you to make specific strategies something you can trust. 2) It would create problems with the fact NIN has in theory the chance to cover multiple roles, DD and Tank. Giving such powerful defensive instruments to a job who can focus on DD would make it too... powerful/desirable as a DD in content where there's a lot of damage received I think 2) in particular is their concern. They were in such a bottleneck with Utsusemi being "mandatory" for everyone for the longest time, that they're afraid to throw themselves into that corner again. I think there's no possible way they could balance that unless they strictly enforced NIN to take one "role" or the other by completely revamping how Innin and Yonin work, and binding these powerful defensive new things to Yonin specifically, at the cost of a big DPS loss. Keep in mind mobs cast shadows too, so any buff to utsusemi will apply to mobs.
The negative from mobs having access to it will likely outweigh any benefit to Nin. Utsusemi is trash and making it block AOEs won't fix that. Having to constantly cast destroys your DPS. AOEs hit the rest of your party so the curaga is still needed anyway.
Unless you do something silly like making darkblade shadows high enough to make the whole party invincible, it just isn't good. Survivability is almost never the issue with recent content; gear inflation has gotten to the point that unless you're an absolute moron using escha abjs you're as sturdy as you need to be. For utsusemi to make NIN a viable tank, it needs to replace enough of a healer's role to match Majesty. That requires blocking for party members, and it has to be very substantial. Not likely. Dodik said: » Keep in mind mobs cast shadows too, so any buff to utsusemi will apply to mobs. First they don't have access to +1 shadows items, they rarely, if ever, have capped FC/Haste, and I don't think any mob has access to San? Last but not least, if they bind these "special" Utsusemi powerups to Yonin, we're safe because no monster uses Yonin anyway. Not sure theres a real way to utilize nins shadow niche, make them a viable tank for group encounters(can do "fine" on single, phys heavy ones already) and not buff shadows overly much to the point of being OP potentially
Been said to death on nin forum but id be fine with just some DTII based on shadows lost, least in that case if its the usual -aga4/ja or heavy magic aoe nin has some kind of additional mitigation beyond migawari. Could lock it to yonin and give innin a dmg variant of the same like they did for a couple katanas already But its in the pile with the other 50 or so nin ideas Quote: You can now obtain new materials for crafting weapons from the newly introduced black treasure chests. Update notes: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/64317-June-10-2026-%28JST%29-Version-Update?p=675498#post675498 It's looks like SE is re-iterating what we know about transferring RP augments from NQ to HQ Limbus Armor...but doing so under the category of "new weapons". After 25 years of playing this game, I don't expect SE to ever reassure us with the introduction of something new in the update notes. (i.e. this new crafting material? Maybe it is actually "Murky Material" or "Alabaster Material"?) ![]() Edit: Also, damn, this update is ~1100+ files. Here is a preview of the new Limbus weapons. There are NQ/HQ1/HQ2 similar to the armor. The dat mining cannot tell if there are augments or what they may be. Otherwise, they all seem to have very similar base stats, with just haste, pdl, dt. Here is the NQ/HQ1/HQ2 of the sword, but outside of Sword skill, they are basically all the same.
