Killer Instinct: The Beastmaster Compendium
By Nariont 2022-12-15 14:16:49
Only rampage can natively crit and its not as strong as the other axe ws, ther are no elemental ws' that can multi-hit that i can immediately think of, there are hybrid WS that are both phys and mag and can technically MA but only great katana/katana have access to those.
Onslaught's okay when you get into augmented guttler's WS boost for a 1k TP WS' it's still not going to compete with the above but itll do alright and it has its SC niche.
And sorry, I worded the DT bit badly. I'm mostly concerned about pet dt. Do the Emp legs +2 do a good job of helping them survive AoEs? If I can get the ML?
Balancing TP/acc/DT with pet acc/dt is a beast. Does anyone have an endgame tp set that keeps both you and the pet alive while climbing the scoreboard?
Pet DT is largely done through accessories, such as ambu back, handler's earring, or weapons like path C Pangu, the emp+3 legs do a good job giving you and pet both some good DT, with 13 for master and an additional 8% to pet. As to TPing largely if you are fighting with your pet, its TP gain doesnt matter, ready moves start at 1k TP on activation and about 70% of bst mobs are WARs with fencer bonuses, so the only time acc/atk are a real consideration is when the ready move is being used.

Correct that Cloudsplitter is single hit (+ an offhand hit). Same thing for Primal Rend.
Might be mistaken but i don't beleive magic WS have an off-hand hit, the OH stats are just factored into the main hit if they have any at all(mdmg, mab, tp bonus and such)

Ah, good correction, I think you're correct. And now that I think about it more, Mythic AM3 is only for physical WS too, right?
By Nariont 2022-12-15 14:23:40
Correct, never heard/seen an instance where mythic/ergon AM3 added to magic WS' outside of again, hybrids since those are just phys WS with a magic calc thrown in at the end

That's probably what tripped me up. I do use hybrids sometimes on my NIN with Nagi, so was thinking of those and that's what caused the confusion. Thanks for the correction!

Really curious about Ikenga's Axe vs Fernagu. Has anyone been playing with it after the update at R25 (can't imagine anyone having R30 yet, but who knows)?
As long as the TP Bonus works in offhand (someone said it does but not sure if it was ever really confirmed with numbers), how does it compare to Fernagu at R25 vs R30? I'd imagine at R25/30 it would win in low acc situations, but what about capped/uncapped att?
More than anything I just want a ToM TP Bonus weapon to finally die but worry the Axe would likely need to be at R30 to possibly do so as the +700 TP Bonus difference at R25 seems like too much to make up.

Disappointed I had to do it but there's no difference with puppet roll on toss or spread so whoever put the water damage on toss a hundred years ago was wrong.
It was never in question whether it was physical or not, but whether it also did water damage too ie hybrid moves
By Nariont 2022-12-15 21:35:07
Its 5 wsd and 15 str, then you got to account for the white dmg gained by having a real OH as well as the +10 crit rate, its close in general to the point id opt for it over magian just for that extra padding of acc/atk

Dont think theres any old mob tp move in the game that is hybrid, whoever editted that page likely just did what i rememver in old 75 days, water is in the animation it must be water based

751 stoneskin every 10s is pretty awesome really.
Even ~705 without vorseals is pretty impressive.
Gotta find a good situation to use it in. It would be an endurance fight with pet tanking, preferably an amorph.
not many endurance fights anymore. everything has a timer to it now.

This was performed on a BST mule with no Job Points or equipment bonuses.
Plotting the values gives the following graph:
Aside from a couple small jumps, there is an increase in Wild Carrot's healing amount for every 50 TP beyond 1000.
Here is a table outlining the minimum and maximum healing amounts possible under a number of conditions:
Pondering Peter | Pet
Max HP | Wild Carrot
(1000 TP) | Wild Carrot
(3000 TP) |
iLvl 119 (Master Level 0) | 5702 | 846 | 1692 |

+ Familiar | 6774 | 1005 | 2011 |
+ Atmas (Ebon/Tower/Blade) | 14474 | 2148 | 4296 |
|
|
To calculate an example:
Level 121 Pondering Peter
Master Level 50 Max HP = 6024
Total Pet TP Bonus = 2240 (1000 + Fencer V + Job Points Gift + Nukumi Manoplas+3)
Amount Healed = floor(244/1024 x 6024) = 1435

Big difference between playing the game and managing a group of people.
Its the main reason I don't push forward making a pet ls.

Anybody in here has a guide/tips/setup on soloing Omen as BST?
Curious as to which approach you'd devise to optimize stuff.
I mean the Ou path of course, so no minibosses or megabosses.
By Nariont 2022-12-19 12:22:42
ole Patrick is likely your best bet if you want an all-in-one in dmg objectives. can do the self-sc loop and fireball is a very cheap and spammable aoe, and from memory nothing really resists fire on ou path, can burst off said scs too but better off just doing the bursts yourself or having a trust out for that probably.

Meh, objectives are overestimated, especially with the campaign down.
Just kill everything as fast as possible without bothering with specific objectives and call it a day.
That's my take on the thing at least.
Still walk out with 3-4 cards every run, on other jobs at least, I call it good enough!
So off with your BST secrets! Spill the bean on how you would tackle this content on BST >:D

Aeons ago I used to Unleash with the Chapuli.
How much damage would a newb BST do with that? And how many packs can you pull at once without your pet being killed in 10 seconds?
I mean... I guess I'll just try and see it for myself of course, was tryin to avoid goin in completely unprepared XD
By Nariont 2022-12-19 15:38:08
Proth basically nailed it, Ken/Patrick both have a good dmg 1 charge magical aoe, on avg i think ken is slightly more dmg but its water dmg so i think on a couple packs itll do less. Grasshopper is still the best for aoe phys, i wouldnt do more than 1 pack a time with it without the full pet DT kit for any of these, if you wanted a safer phys option but slower, slime pets likely the way to go.
Alternatively, i forgot this was an option but you could also just Aeolian Edge stuff down, BST has a very potent def boost and very strong stoneskin via the crab line, never tried it personally but dont think itd be too bad, but could be mistaken there.

Whats the best dagger a Bst can use?
I was looking at the Vanir Knife, is that the best option?

Agreed with this. Would also add Ternion +1 (with augments) as a great offhand option if for whatever reason you want a dagger but don't need Malevolence's magic stats for AE.

Yesterday, I finally got rolling again. But I'm being told that BST isn't really good for anything. It kinda gets my blood boiling, because that's been the message ever since the Ready distance decrease. What would you tell the haters?
I'm making BST my priority Master Level job, behind SAM, DRG, and MNK. It's fine, right? BST DD can still keep up with everyone else, right?
By Nariont 2022-12-22 14:33:34
BST's current niche is in a select few unique debuffs, namely corrosive ooze in a general sense since more recent content has nerfed geomancer debuff bubbles hard, there's other ones like tp drainkiss, acid mist, purtulent ooze, etc. As a DPS it can keep up, it just wont excel in most cases. The pet dmg portion of bst has fallen pretty hard to the point its largely not worth the ja delay unless its for SCing purposes or to land an effect that comes with the dmg i.e sweeping gouge or swooping frenzy.
Isn't a bad job, if anything id say its problems stem from it feeling a bit janky and inventory intensive due to the ready range nerf and the way jug pets work+awful summon timers since with the addition of enhancing ready moves working on master you want to rotate a little if possible

By Morihei 2022-12-22 14:41:12
Dag nab. I thought with Odyssey gear and the added pet boosts to Master Levels, they were trying to get us back into the battlefield again. I was going to ask what job I could use to best solo content, but I'm too much of a BST fanboy. I'll just do what I can with what I have, and solo ML on SAM, MNK, or DRG on the side.
I guess the long-term vision for BST was to avoid situations where people just Unleash -> Pet JA -> ??? -> Profit. I'll keep building and getting creative using everyone's great ideas here.
AE and Fluid Toss hadn't even crossed my mind. That sounds great when I can get some Nyame.
By Nariont 2022-12-22 14:50:25
Like i said, job itself aint bad and it can keep up, dolchi decimation is plenty potent spam WS and there's always savage blade where its applicable(bleh) or mistral axe. And corrosive ooze or killer instinct alone can sell a slot depending on context.
Again its problems are mostly mechanics, CB/BL timers suck, reward sucks when compared to something like repair, dmg of ready moves hasnt scaled well compared to the gear creep we've had since omen, and ready range is an annoying leash to be put on that frankly needed to be gone years ago considering what they "stopped" got replaced fairly soon after and was more exploitable/abused.
If you like the job, play it, there isnt really a bad job currently, even the "weaker" ones like bst/pup have a unique role they can fill, with bsts being wider due to debuff pet options vs pups tank puppet niche
