Wouldn’t you use Bredo in MB party. Are the cogs malaise resistant, I think I read they were. If so seems a good reason to have Bst

20k seems really low to me for an magic burst from Gaston vs a malaised mob.

There wasn't a GEO. It was nothing but my gear setup and Puppet's Roll. And my gear could have been better set for buffing the pet.

I am considering Bredo as well, but we were doing light chains, not dark. Though I've been getting some pretty good numbers from Primal, so maybe setting up for dark chains would be good.

On the other hand, Randy's new Crossthrash was hitting as high as 15k(Which I think was a triple attack proc) with only trusts, so there might be some merit to double darkness on gears with someone else to burst. Having a single DPS that can manage darkness chains by themselves without extensive buffs would be pretty good, I think. And BST can rock a huge amount of accuracy now, all things considered.

Trying to do checks, how much accuracy should Randy have mastered?

Guide says 889 + 20 for job point + 70 for gifts + 6 from stat gifts.

At ML6, my tiger currently has 1091 summoned with a Naeg and naked otherwise. Even at 10 acc a level that's 46 missing. Some of that might be wrapped up in ML stat boosts, but even here I'm being generous.

Am I missing something, or are my pet stats inflated?

Edit: I'm an idiot, I had leftover food from EPing.

Hi anyone tried Purulent Ooze on odyssey bosses?

I tried on Bumba and kalunga, and landed quite easily. How about other a3 bosses?

Random weird tidbit, likely useless.

So, was pulling in Promy-Vaz with Randy, and I had 2-3 pulls where he got stuck on the trees, as the bigger pets are wont to do.

Turns out when your pet gets stuck, the mob it pulled also gets stuck. The pulled mob would even mimic Randy's back and forth stuck movement I'm sure people are familiar with, and wouldn't attack even if it melee range.

It was quite strange to see. And it suggests that mob pathing isn't independent.

It lands on Ngai when aura is up, but obviously problem is that it absorbs all water damage in that state.

At V15 the A3's are pretty evasive to magic so its not exactly a reliable method for RP farming, but its one hell of a hail-mary against the fish as land rate goes way up with aura!

One thing I've noted -and this is just anecdotal really- is that unleash spam does not seem to impact land rate. I've had as much success landing hp-down first-time as unleashing. Quite strange as I'd expect volume of attempts to show some degree of benefit.

You can land it 100% of the when it's aura goes up.

Aura might not proc for entire fight sometimes, so good luck forcing it and not dying in the process :) (I assume you solo or something, because group wouldn't have a problem taking down 5% without Ooze)

Wear nyame, gleti boots and pet macc/dt pet dt in other slots. Summon tank, healer maybe the rdm trust that does frazzle. Then engage unleash and bstpet 1 spam.

That was my bread and butter in Dho gates vs bats. Sweeping gives you a decent def down effect. I switched between Blurred Knife +1 and Ridill in the OH to help me hit the fourth step. That SC damage adds up, and I felt like it was the best soloing combo for BST JP.

Just tried this with LS on Ongo, RDM landed fuzzle and GEO uses geo-languor, we still have no luck on it. This is my set. Anything we did it wrong? Or can improve on?

https://www.ffxiah.com/item-sets/382658

The reason we are on it because we would like to have our mules get some RP as well. However we do not have wide range of jobs on them and it easier if one fight can be carried by bst method.

Against Apex, this is one of the most powerful 4step Skillchains in the game imo, If that feels slow it's because of low buffs and BST not being WAR :)
Alternative is also to use pet for Killer Instinct (with empy body +1) and just do Smash Axe instead of Sweeping, but that's probably only better if you have more buffs, since Sweeping's -25% def is very useful otherwise.

When you did this, did you try Rolanberry daifuku, Run Wild and Unleash spam? Also make sure you run in and hit the mob at least for a second for Tandem Strike.

I have an aymur so I like to use Zhivago swooping frenzy for its fusion property and mag def and def -25:
Swooping > Primal Rend = grav > cloudsplitter = frag > ruinator = distortion > primal rend = cap dmg darkness and a super dead apex pox hound.

5 step SC to kill the Apex seems slow and also I feel like even with AM3 it wouldn't be easy to always manage last PR for 5th step?

Certainly not the fastest, and i need AM 3 and sam roll to hit the 5 step 95% of the time. But, in that camp, if you have 2 DDs each on a songle mob, you can infini-chain. Also, multistepping on BST is fun.

Finished my Guttler R15 recently, and I'm liking it specifically for solo SC ability. I tend to just do a 3-step and repeat:

Onslaught > Pentapeck or Tegmina Buffet (Darkness) > Onslaught (Double Darkness).

Can also go for more difficult 5 step with Zhivago on stuff that lives long enough (but need to hold off slightly on first Onslaught to give time for 2 ready charges refill and hit Pentapeck):
Ruinator > Swooping > Onslaught > Pentapeck > Onslaught

Onslaught does comparable damage for me to Doli Decimation, but chains better with some good pets and other player WS. And Atk+ aftermath for master & pet sure doesn't hurt (especially with PDL+ on Malignance & Gleti).

Aymur SCs might be better, but for those who haven't made the Mythic (like me!), Guttler is actually showing up a solid option for this use case IMO. Pure WS spam it's rather close to Doli Decimation spam, but when you can use Darkness SC it's an easy call for me to go with Guttler. If not SCing with a partner or pet, Onslaught>Onslaught is also darkness (if you have the buffs to reliably hit it). Planning to run some longer parses next time I go out for some solo EP farming and post em, if anyone is interested.

Wait what. Onslaught putting numbers comparable to Doli Decimation? Under what buffs or I guess without any? Or it's some non Dual Wield setup?

Considering Doli bonus and R15 Guttler bonus and Dual Wield
Decimation is like 15.4 fTP with 50% STR WSC
Onslaught is like 4.62+1.68 fTP with 80% DEX WSC

Now you gear Decimation with multiattack and/or PDL and Onslaught with WSD and I guess some PDL too. It shouldn't even be close.
Again what buffs or what lack of buffs we are talking about and what damage from Onslaught. It's like impossible unless Onslaught stats on BGwiki are completely wrong and it's like 7.0 base fTP before relic bonus.

I'll give you better parse numbers/WS averages later in the week, but typically I have RMEA BRD (my alt) with at least 2 Minuets, sometimes a 3rd (SV/CC). Generally DW with Agwu's Axe offhand.

Solo stuff I'll usually have my player BRD and from trusts will use Sylvie and Dia III if Koru can be bothered to cast it. Been pretty similar numbers in activities I've done in the past couple weeks: Apex, couple Odyssey farms for curiosity's sake (though I prefer SAM DRG WAR there), Dyna (where I'll also regularly have Regal neck COR buffs, but not always Chaos - sometimes it's a party with a COR running around shooting some statues and using Samurai/Tactician's or something). Dyna I tend to use Gaston for Atk+20% buff for myself on wave 1-2, will switch to Slug for wave 3 and Ooze Def-.

Good sets for each, my Decimation set is actually a bit better though (I tend to go 5/5 Gleti). Onslaught my set needs a little work but is solid enough - WSD where I can get it (DEX/WSD cape, earrings, a WSD ring), Ankusa +3 head, Meg+2 hands (don't have AF+3 done yet, will soon), and the other pieces a mix of Gleti/Ankusa (relic isn't bad for DEX/Acc and all that Atk).

This morning I did a quick Odyssey farm just for fun, did try both axes. Onslaughts were hitting like 23-26kish, and darkness SCs with pets pushed that over the edge to make it a pretty obvious choice (I was using Zhivago and Pentapeck today). Decimation was about the same average WS damage if not slightly higher (but like, maybe 5% difference at best), some higher spikes, but less consistent due to reliance on multiattack. I remember did 2F Marids, for some context on mobs.

Pure WS damage is certainly close enough between the two that the much better SCs from Guttler make that a better call over Doli when SC is viable. Pure WS spam with few SC, I currently do lean toward Doli but Guttler is close enough that I want to do more testing and see if the extra Atk and pet stats on Guttler might compete with raw WS damage.

You probably use Gleti's but has not enough attack to use it's PDL. At capped attack with 5/5 Gleti's Decimation would be at around 31k+ minimum without multi-attack proc and on avg it would be around 38k+ with spikes up to 60k+

Ok, suggest me a non-Gleti’s (or at least non 5/5) Decimation set, since I’m currently using the suggested one in this guide. I’ll test that too.

P.S. - gonna be honest, if SV Minuet 3/4/5 + Honor March, Dia III, and trust GEO fury is so weak that it makes that big of a difference on Decimation sets, the guide post probably should better reflect that and have an uncapped atk set too. I don't think it's that reasonable to assume BST is always going to be rolling with player BRD songs + PR+7~8 Chaos Roll + Idris GEO bufs/debuffs, so if that's what you need for the set to be best, well...

FWIW, part of the reason I'm appreciating Guttler is the Atk+60 and 10% AM (along with good SCs as the other big part).

Well, the thing with BST is that you have strong attack buffs and def down debuffs, but if you want to use some specific pet, then it might be limited.

-25~33% def down, Dia III from trust, then some minuet and chaos and you should be capped even with Gleti. If Geomancy isn't nerfed, then Frailty (without JA buffs) on top of def down and Dia III makes it that attack buff aren't even needed. If you try cap attack only with buffs (or with only Dia III even), then its way harder. You suddenly need 5000-8000+ attack.

For best damage during uncapped attack you probably should use Argosy+1 or Valorous with 5%DA/10STR, but for doing self SC in this scenario, I would use Gleti's body and 4/5 Nyame B R20. Mix of Attack, WSD, some DA and Skillchain damage is pretty all right for it and it's even safer than 5/5 Gleti's. Avg damage should still be around 34k+ and +21% skillchain damage could potentially even beat 5/5 Gleti's in overall damage.

I wouldn't recommend anyone use Argosy set.
because I did. and you die so much when using a weapon skill.

There is no current content where it is worthwhile. Any content you need that much damage for, you are better off w/ Gleti, Nyame, or a combo of other gear. Argosy just hurts too much, both your hp and your gil.

It is pretty simple to not be in your ws set when you get tp moved. Just by paying the minimum amount of attention instead of spamming the button the millisecond you get tp.

But that lost dps from paying attention negates the gain of using the better set in the first place. I suppose.

You can't really time weapon skills when you try 4step Skillchains. You go asap or you lose Skillchain.
