Forgive me for stepping in at the wrong time but I'm just now taking up RNG. For strictly AH/Delve weapons is there anything that stands out? I'm thinking Illapa has some good stats and utility but would I be better off with the AH Bow/Gun?
Didn't mean to derail the Anni vs Yoichi discussion but I appreciate the input ^^
Echidna's Bow/+1 are high up on the DPS side of things. I think someone said higher than Eminant Bow. Donderbuss as well. Keep in mind though, we are getting the next wave of Delve in a few weeks, and the bosses may drop boss-tier replacements for these.

So I plan on taking rng up got the skills capped and got most the gear and got a couple of questions about weapons/equip. So ive got last stand meritted already for cor is the skirmish +2 weapon the best none RME gun? Should I be using eminant bow? and out of the relic reforged stuff what should be upgraded and most of the af looks useful.
Well if the next bosses are Yumcax and hurkan then theres no replacements coming this time. The 119 boss bow will come with Kumhau and there is no gun atm.
Edit: forgot to ask about main/off hand choices I imagine hurlbat is best but what else other than that?

I'm team bow but you'll lose by more than 10% to anni w/o yoichi w.w Over the course of a VD DM, our best bow user was 30k damage behind our best gun user which was about 3% on the parse with 8 rangers over ~1mil total damage. Analyzing the parse a bit to factor out player errors brought the difference down to 16k. My 8RNG 3% is probably similar to your 6man 10%.
Another implication is that if you have a gun ranger and a bow ranger racing to deal 125k damage, the gun user will win by 16k damage.

16,000 is 12.8% of 125,000.
Gun is in reality more than 12% ahead of bow when you account for the fact that you simply cannot use JR liberally in the only content where rng is relevant (inb4 more 1337 rngs make remarks about controlling or knowing where their hate is).
Rapid shot builds are likely to fall further from their max potential DPS when compared to a snapshot build because of the random changes in delay. That is not to say it can't be superior, just that you would need to factor in a larger degree of human error into timing your shots than with a snapshot focused build.

What would you guys recommend for a newer RNG to use so that I suck less? Emininent Gun? or Emininent Bow? I've asked some RNG friends and theres a few people saying Apex Arrow sucks and they prefer gun but I'm looking at the longer ranged sweet spot and thinking the bow might be better suited for fights where you wanna stay back (such as AAs) thoughts?
Mind you, I'm only messing with RNG so I can get more AA action since shout groups are too chicken to use close Range DDs and I need Rem's so I'm gonna make a Decent RNG but I'm not going out of my way to spend a week camping and killing NMs to get Empy WS*. Certainly not throwing 10 mil at Empy WS* either. At least not til I take a liking to it. I'm getting the +2 Abby Gear and lv.109 Equipment thats needed and thats pretty much it.
So were looking at "Decent" not good. So for a player like me who's only desire for RNG is to not suck. Should I run Gun / Last Stand? Or Bow / Sidewinder~Apex Arrow.
At least Im being honest lol Any input appreciated

How often do shout groups bring non relic rng to AA? On Asura it looks like most of the shout groups are asking for relic rng only.

Luckily we don't have that problem yet on Valefor. I'm guessing the shouts where you are want Relics so they can shout for Difficult/VeryDifficult? The PUGs on my server tend to suck balls so I only see shouts for Normal

We had success with a loleminent RNG on VD. Before he finished his yoich, but we also always have 4song brds or 1brd 1cor. With SV preludes you don't even need to use a full racc set on AA other than mithra. It's not prohibitive it is just going to take a bit longer

If you are not bothering with JR, bow is simply a no go, so Eminent Gun and last stand would be ok. Don't expect to perform well on difficult runs with 109 gear, you may even cause a time out of GK or EV depending on the other rangers. If your target is normal AA then your gear would be acceptable. Good luck with ranger, I'm sure you'll have fun with it and want to invest it in.

Well, if you're not going to camp the NM's/buy coins for Jishnus, I would suggest the eminent gun I guess. You aren't hitting anything with Sidewinder with subpar gear on AA's.
Right now the only thing Empy armor is good for is the body if you don't have Orion, bounty shot, and saving them for when they do AF3RF.

Bow can sweet spot on AA, gun can't, can sub drg and use JR often; use Namas when long time on jump and decoy down, after a few run you know how much dmg you can do w/o worrying about hate. WS frequency is the same bow 4 hit too!

I'm not sure I understand your point.
I'm saying your quoting of specific figures is irrelevant when not put in context. You may have 8 rngs at DM and we know roughly how much damage total that will equate to, but we have no idea what the distribution will be. Its quite common to find that out of 8 rngs you may have a 200% difference between the top and bottom RNG. So that 30k damage isn't to 125k, its closer to 200k.
My point is that people are using their % on a parse when it would provide a more useful perspective to use your damage dealt relative to another persons, not the whole groups.
If you say a race to 125k then the difference is actually greater because that would mean the bown had only done 109k damage by that point. Gun is now 14.7% ahead.

In that case, I'm fairly sure you didn't understand my post. I provided all of the context required to draw a conclusion and was implicitly discrediting the general reliance in this thread upon percentages by showing how percentages change widely based on the number of rangers and the total damage done.
Most of the thread is filled with hyperbolic qualifiers such as "destroys", "crushes", "doubles" etc instead of actual damage done.

I agree that this thread is full of hyperbole and most people demonstrating a bad understanding of how to produce relevant conclusions from parse data.
You are only getting half way there though. If the point is to educate people, then surely it would make sense to provide context that shows their damage percentage relative to another individuals. Not to just say that your % should be 4x less if you have 4x as many rng.

All Namas and Coronach (leader requirement). The difference in ws dmg over 72 ws accounts for ~19.2k damage between the first and second rangers but clearly the second RNG's WS set wasn't as strong as the other Namas users (probably way too much accuracy).
Anyway, this is just some data to chew on. I trust the spreadsheet process personally.

This looks awfully low to me as well. These are the averages that we have usually:
Divine Might (VD) (Clear time 20-23 minutes)
6 RNG's (3 Guns, 3 Bows)
Gun RNG's: 2,300 Coronach
Bow RNG's: 1,900 Namas Arrow
The damage spread is usually:
Gun RNG's: ~230,000 damage each
Bow RNG's: ~195,000 damage each

Kinda hard to compare gun VS bow with a parse like that, there is a huge gap in gear, skill and xhit builds among those 8 rng. Either use the spreadsheets and trust them or put a gun+bow rng of same skill at playing the job, optimal gear, in the same party that use JA etc at fixed times and then you would need both players to have both wep and have them run multiple parses, or you need someone like comeatmebro.
from personal exp i would say gun beats bow by a decent amount 15-20% (restricted to coro+namas and both standing in bow sweet spot area). when factoring stuff in like /drg and use of JR+LS and the wide gap at skill between various PLD out there its all just assumptions anyway.
