Excalibur Vs. Almace

GENERALY Excalibur will pull ahead of Almace. I use both for different things, and i enjoy them both. I can find situations that a Joyeuse would be better then both if i really thought about it hard enough, but who cares, b/c we arent talking about any specific situation.

You guys are talking about an 85/90 Almace vs a 95/99 Excal right?

I don't see a 99 Almace losing in any situation. I'm a total Almace fanboy so I may be wrong, but still the only case where there's some chance would be in a frequent shield swap situation. Even then I still call it pretty close.

So is the general consensus 99 Excalibur>99 Almace in most situations (outside abyssea)?

Ok I ran the data in the spreadsheet for PLD also, and 99 Almace vs 99 Excalibur with Requiescat comes out close. If I'm not getting too many things wrong however, Almace 99 stays on top in every situation, high/low Lvl mobs, from no buffs to full buffs.

This obviously changes if you're swapping shields and losing TP, since Excal obviously has more melee dps and Almace higher ws dmg. As I also said in the Kannagi vs Kikoku thread, we'll have to wait and see the impact pDif changes have considering one handed relics' Atk bonus.

Currently I have a 90 Almace and a 95 Excalibur. I could 99 my Excalibur pretty easy, the price of Marrows isn't that expensive. 99 Almace is so expensive I don't think I would really want to try it.

So is 99 Excalibur better then a 90 Almace?
