Add me to the Dokoku stage5 sucker list....no ragrets.

@Euvedant - can you talk through some of the gear choices?

Zesho - nyame head over mpaca's...is this just because you are holding TP enough such that the TP bonus on mpaca is worthless/there is a bigger gain from nyame?

TP - I haven't looked closely enough at revelation gear (yet) and possible swaps for TP phase but, are head/feet considered priority?

Simon posted the ideal gearset for Zesho some time ago, and it had Hitaki in offhand (not sure if it had Nyame head or Mpaca, but besides the point). Every WS is at minimum 2250 with Moonshade. Even though Euvedant originally posted gearset with Kunimitsu offhand, in the video he showcased he very clearly is using Hitaki, or WSing at 3k eff TP anyways. He even said he can push damage higher with Hoxne Earring, but he would have to drop probably Moonshade for it instead of the PDL from JSE+2 earring. So TP Bonus gear is doing nothing after a certain point, and devalued with a TP Bonus offhand, especially for a job like NIN that will almost certainly over TP with TA+Daken proc or Hoxne DA proc. You can't always WS at exactly 2k and guarantee you get full benefit of Mpaca head/Moonshade earring, so at effective TP 3k, TP bonus stuff should be the first to go.

This is exactly what I suspected. And yea, hitaki offhand is gonna be the way to go 99.9% of the time if you’re gonna be using prime. I fulltime it when Dokoku is in main hand.

I initially wasn't using Hitaki with Zesho when I first made Stage 4 Dokoku (because I pride R30 Kunimitsu, RIP), but the damage is literally night and day difference. You can't not use it with Dokoku, or you might as well not be using NIN at all. The whole "Damage Varies with TP" modifier basically always means those TP Bonus offhands are BIS for WS.

@luna
Just go 2 pages back to the ws set. Alabaster back and rank 8 hoxne earring can bump up the damage up. For revelation gear, I personally like head, feet and legs. I will probably still make the body for my bard, but using mpaca body and legs would be fine. Malignance gloves are permanently on there. I add the null shawl and murky ring for the drop in meva. That’s my preference, if anyone finds some other gear set worth exploring, I’m willing to give it a look. I don’t like the simulator picking my tp gear, I’m not willing to drop too much dt or meva.

Haven't played NIN in a few months, looking at Hoxne Ammo some more with Damage Sim tool and not sure if there is a consensus on if the Ammo is worth it for NIN.

The -20 DT and -50 DT sets the tool made did favor Hoxne and the Zesho set did also. Still need to tweak more but before i go down more DW rabbit holes wanted to ask others views on the matter.

Also wondering a little bit if these TP sets seem overkill or not? They are already made and seem to work well but does mean when new sets come out, limbus for example it might mean a ton of rework.
I tried to account for different haste situations and even a max DW set when weakened, which did come in handy a little bit recently.

It's been discussed. I think Hoxne Ampulla is likely a gain. Smaller than on other jobs, but a gain is a gain!
By going that route though you lose one of the things that make ninja special, that is Daken and the shuriken launch once per turn.

It depends on how much you value efficiency vs uniqueness I guess.

I do agree about daken being a nice unique feature. I suppose I need to look at the possible sets more and see if the gain is really worth it or not. For RDM that ammo is just insane. Havent used it much on NIN mainly cause the sets should be changed a lot, i assume.

I used Hoxne on Ninja just messing around on Apex mobs. It's very nice for Blade Chi specifically. I didn't really change anything in my sets, though you can just drop all ranged accuracy since you're eliminating Daken. Mpaca's set looks great with it. Tatenashi is an option if you ignore the fact that -DT is missing.

I will admit, it definitely feels wrong, as bad as Naegling on Ninja. It's probably ultra busted in Segs using Hybrids to force a DA. It's not like MNK that gets to keep their Kick Attacks and gain 100% DA, you're just totally dropping Daken entirely. Reason why Multi-Attacks should be able to proc on Daken.

Ironic this is coming up because I was just wondering if hoxne is worth it on NIN…guess I’ll do my own tests.

It is what it is about Daken, at the end of the day faster TP rate is faster, uniqueness aside. And disregarding racc in an engaged set does open up more options.

Another mark on the poorly-designed-ninja elements these days.

Interested in results if willing to share. I really wish SE would give NIN some love!

For ampulla NIN, prioritizing triple attack/stp and looking closer at some slots that were historically locked in place (JSE neck for example). Moonlight nodowa gives you 3 more STP but a little less acc when you factor in JSE dex augment.

Forego r.acc altogether (RIP daken). Could go for ambu cape for an extra 3 STP but I like the high acc/meva on null in this set.

Used it last night for segs and TP rate was very satisfying. (except for the +2 ear because NIN is one of 3 jobs I still don't have +2 ear hahahakillme.)

Mikage testing for science. Friend(s) and I trying to figure out exactly how high you can get subtle blow with Mikage active. Shoutout Nari for doing the best math he could (dAGI sucks), and we settled on 95% without the use of Myoshu or Yurin. Still mathing out the rest, but putting it here in case anyone else has tried this.

Target: Lvl 109 Vampire Leech (Foret de Hennetiel)
NIN/BST
Nukes (ninjutsu, dia, black magic nukes) give 100 TP base without any subtle blow or inhibit TP effects on the target (I believe this has been proven for some time but correct me if I am wrong).

Quote:
Test 1: Idle set (+10 subtle blow from bathy choker +1)
Myoshu: X
Yurin: X

SB I total: 27 base, +5 merits, +11 bathy choker = 43 total.
SB II total: 0.

No Mikage > Katon: Ichi > Charm.

Leech TP: 28.

Quote:
Test 2: Idle set (+11 subtle blow from bathy choker +1)
Myoshu: X
Yurin: X

SB I total: 27 base, +5 merits, +11 bathy choker = 43 total.
SB II total: 0.

Mikage > Katon: Ichi > Charm.

Leech TP: 3 (yes, three).

Quote:
Test 3: Idle set (+11 subtle blow from bathy choker +1)
Myoshu: Y
Yurin: Y

SB I total: 27 base, +5 merits, +11 bathy choker, + 10 myoshu = 53 total (overcap).
SB II total: 0.

Mikage > Katon: Ichi > Charm.

Leech TP: 2.

All nukes were done on unclaimed targets with shadows up to ensure it didn't get a hit in/generate TP. Charmed immediately after nuke to check TP.

Ballista test is probably simpler. Ballista has no unique properties with Subtle Blow (they behave entirely normal)

Stay on different teams, join same party, hit/view tp. pld changes weapon, repeat. add buff/debuff, repeat. You can also pre-purchase a Revitalizer if you have Ballista Points, so you can repeat Mikage test without resetting SPs.

Good call on ballista! Didn't think of that...also check your PM inbox ;)
