Hi all, I'm a WHM main that is looking to expand into a new job and always liked COR.

Are the gear sets in the OP relatively up to date as something to aim towards?

Probably the most up to date guide on the entire website.

Not going to list specific gear sets (but you can check my profile for solid sets - not perfect), but if you are starting COR, make sure you get a good roll set, since that's the number one function of the job. Things that increase chances of better rolls and duration and get a luzafs ring before even coming to a party on COR. Idk how many cor I've run into that doesn't even know what that is.

Hgafircian should be the best gun for a melee last stand dmg:129 during wses and 123 whenever else.

For Last Stand, how do Manibozho hands ( AGI+10 RACC+10 RATTK+30) compare in the hand slots? Better or worse then Sigyn's hands?

I suggest to use Lanun+1; but for your question if you need the extra attack sure, Sigyn are just preferable for the higher accuracy and still have some str too.
Only thing Lanun lack is enmity-(which is to consider in rng oriented fights).

I have issues with pulling hate even with /drg on longer fights, so I use manibozho hands and just leave my sigyn hands on the mog slip.
the 10% recycle is quite nice too

Ok CORs which ring do you choose?

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/44947

Adoulin Ring
Haverton Ring

Personally I think the Adoulin Ring.

From a purely corsair perspective Shneddick is a waste thanks to Skadi+1.

As for chosing among the others...*** my life.

20 racc on a ring is kind of hard to pass up, even when it didn't have snapshot on it x.x

I bet I'd see plenty of JP wearing Janniston!

I'm thinking Karieyh is going to be my choice. The other two may be better for corsair-only, but as I end up playing other jobs frequently also...that may be the middle ground I end up walking.

Karieyh beats garuda +1 for last stand it seems, but it has lower acc. And it doesn't seem to beat current options for leaden salute.

Regain +5 is kinda meh IMO, anytime you're idling for 10 min you can just do a regain roll.

If i could get more playtime on cor, i'd go with haverton since its doing something for you whether you are melee cor or you are shooting.

Amazing for QD and beats Garuda+1 for Wildfire...theoretically you could use this over Arvina+1 too, so for Leaden as well, but it's not exactly a deal breaker. 7/10

If not at capped delay this ring is pretty great for melee tp phase over Rajas; it also comes with a top tier racc and amazing snapshot. Likely the ideal choice for someone who focuses on cor mainly. 9/10.

It's good for Last Stand, but not fantastic, overall could be skipped for better things. 6/10

Everything else ignore it...not that they're bad, but they shouldn't be your first thoughts when you play cor. Still Weatherspoon is a great casting ring, Janniston as cure pot piece, Gorney as lolTH...don't even look at the rest, it does nothing on this job.

tldr: if chosing based on cor, my suggestion is Haverton.

I was playing with spreadsheet and DW+ on ring doesn't seem great either. I got less than 5 DPS increase when haste dropped. It's good for /ra and that's pretty much it IMO.

Seems like making a choice between bigger QD/leaden number and /ra faster in RNG setup.

People do all kind of things, Haverton can very possibly be a great tp piece if one's not running around with bards or whatever; plus there's the racc too, not just the snap.
Adoulin I foresee getting outclassed fairly soon in the future considering how gear goes these days.

According to my spreadsheet using Tojil as target, even with 0 haste, Haverton is like 6 DPS increase if not using OAT offhand, 2 DPS increase if using OAT offhand. Unless my spreadsheet is broken, IMO snapshot is the main selling point.
