I think you are completely mis-reading what byrth wrote, what he is saying is that only what you are wearing for midcast matters for JA. So to use his example, pre:QD gear mid:PDT you will get the effect of PDT gear on your JA. If you do this, pre:blood mask mid:MAB head you will only get the effect of the MAB head NOT the Blood Mask. You can not precast in your mask and get the timer reduction then flip to MAB head and get that bonus. That is what byrth is saying and if you read the Gearswap thread on BG you will see that a few different people (myself included) has tested this exact case and found what I'm saying to be true. JA precast differently than Magic and Ranged Attack.

It works on my GS file using Mirke in precast and Lunan in midcast.
I'm in his LS so I had the luxury of asking multiple times for clarity due to my original understanding of how JAs and WSs worked.

feel free to try it.

I will retest now with both. I am wondering if we both might be right, I did all my testing with my Blood Mask and saw that it 100% did not work precast. I will try out my mirke and see if that works differently. This MIGHT be the case since the only exception Byrth made in that post you quoted was on the Shantotto expansion's legs and the mirke is from the Crystaline expansion, so those augments might work differently than others do. I will post in a few my results.

Ok, I just went out and retested and got the same results I did originally, that you can not precast in QD timer gear and midcast into potency gear. My test was as follows: Light shot on Lesser Colibri outside Whitegate, all times were monitored via the menu rather than timers plugin so they are accurate. Blood Mask is QD-5,MACC+3, Mirke is QD-5,MAB+4. I also am 5/5 QD Recast Timer. The spoiler below has all 20 situations I tested. I also tested each case a few times to make sure something didn't go wrong in there.

In conclusion my testing shows that it is not possible to precast in QD-Recast and then switch midcast to potency gear and gain the effect of the reduced timers, what you are wearing midcast is what is ultimately applied to your JA. One other note I would like to add is that I noticed once or twice while doing the control tests where I only did midcast QD- and no precast changes I managed to get QD timer of 50, what this would lead me to believe and is how I've allways handled my JA gear, is that it should be applied precast and then have midcast do no gearswapping. This may be do to lag or something since JA are instant.

I have no clue what you mean by using default macro. My methodology was as follows: Target Bird, pull open menu and navigate to Light shot, hover over it so I can see recast. Use text command of //Light Shot to use the JA via the shortcuts addon.

With that gearswap I posted I get 45s everytime since I have mirke but no mask in my preshot set then swap to Lanun in my midshot set.

menu timer and windows timer plugin both reflect augment proc.

I just tried your gearswap and it's not equipping the mid-cast set for your QD, so you're only using your pre-cast set. I'm debugging now to see why that is.

Strike that I just tried it again and Its equipping correctly but I'm getting a QD timer of 50s

So I just thought of something, try trading out your Lanun Frac +1 for something else, maybe that piece of gear has a hidden effect of QD- or something?

A lot of these new job points are very nice, still isn't going to convince me to farm them though.

Double capacity points right now is pretty nice, though. Getting 1200-1500 per kill in Woh Gates with Corsair's Roll while chain is built up. Got 10 job points in an hour and a half.

Farming job points is better than farm gears and toss them next month :)

Well, with the August update adding a katana to Muyingwa's drops, COR becomes the only job with no Delve boss weapon. No gun, no dagger, nothing. Boo.

I wonder if maybe they'll go back and stick a gun drop in one of the other WKR/Delve treasure pools in the future. Perhaps Achuka/Tojil would be a good fit, giving all three Delve 1 bosses three different weapon drops, and all three Delve 2 bosses two weapons.

I also wonder if maybe the original plan was for 7 WKR/Delves (with gun/katana coming from the last), as could be supported by the storyline, but that changed somewhere along the line.

Given the quality of Vanir Gun already I dunno. As I said elsewhere today I'd like to see a 119 sword thrown our way for that classic pirate cutlass look.

And it will probably just be another sidegrade firearm.

Meanwhile, eclipsing the 19000/30000 mark. I'm very excited (progress has been so slow recently, I haven't had the time to really make gil, just farm salvage, event, bed =\ ).

Not that Vanir Gun isn't really nice, but every job gets 119 high tier battlefield weapons (and Skirmish+2, 119 Delve 2.0 plasm gear, 119 JSE weapons, etc.) Just made me /sigh a little bit now that they made the recent efforts to adjust that all jobs get a WKR weapon (Atoyac jobs increased, WKR katana), and now adding Muyingwa katana... but leaving COR as the only one all 22 jobs without a Delve boss weapon. :P

Also, Vanir Gun won't drop for me. I'm sure the day after it finally does, they'll announce a better and fairly easily obtainable COR gun, because LOL FFXI.

I'd be cool with a dagger actually, always preferred daggers to swords. If they wanted to just toss COR on Izhiikoh I'd be kind of OK with that!

Yeah like I said in the other thread too I'd prefer a dagger or sword, I could live without a new gun.

Sword not so much about preference but it sucks that Eminent is the best we have atm, a 119 would be nice.

Yeah, I mean. I feel you on that to a point. I guess for me, since DP is within sniffing distance, I don't really care atm though.

Always preferred sword myself. Maybe because I could never afford a Merc. Kris back in the day, so I was always a Joyeuse fella.

That and I don't have room for Exenterator, but Requiscat is important to a few things I do so I need to keep it around.

I agree, most pirates been wanting a 119 sword or dagger. I have been hoping all along for a cutlass style sword aswell Ramyrez! We can do with out any more guns. Emp, Mythic, JSE, Vanir, Skirmish +2 and Pulfanxa is more than enough options on the table atm. Some for sure are just placeholders, but can still pack a decent punch by any means.

My issue with dagger is that dagger dmg is terrible on wopket, if you use sword then acc drop a *** ton when flash's on without ILV119 option.

I don't need anymore daggers, I already have like, 10 of them all with different functions ;X

Idc about sword or dagger ws since gun ws options are superior, but I'm missing the option for sanguine blade (/war or/blu) for the occasional times I want/need to get hp back

AGI modifier was bumped to 100% and the lv of the gun is now factored in the damage, so yeah Leaden is now very good.

With full buffs, and day/weather bonus, I've heard it tops 20k at 3000 to, with a DP. Without, 10k+
