Greetings!

I’d like to give some feedback in regards to pet behavior when changing areas and kicking off confrontations.

  • Area Changing with Charmed Pets
Monster data is managed in each area and since it cannot carry over to other areas, system-wise it is just not possible to do this.

  • Differences between pet behavior when changing areas
Wyvern, automatons, and adventuring fellows all have long recast times and if they didn’t carry over between areas, it would be quite a large penalty. Based on this, they will not disappear when changing areas.

On the other hand, familiar pets and avatars use jugs and cost MP so the penalty is not as large. With familiar pets, you spend money on jugs to gain fighting power, which is essentially the same as other consumables like ammunition.

With that said, it is technically possible; however, in the case that pets did not disappear when changing areas, the cost of using that pet to its full extent would be increased (the cost of the jug).

  • Dynamis Confrontations
The ability to adjust settings for support job restrictions is a special feature of Dynamis, and the behavior from other Dynamis confrontations differs. As a result of investigating, it seems like it is possible to make them all unified, so we are currently working on addressing this.

After this change, when confrontations begin pets will no longer disappear.

Currently this adjustment will only take place for Dynamis confrontations. The reason for this being that it is not desirable that the same content isn’t uniform, so there is no problem changing this specifically for Dynamis. However, this behavior is something that has been necessary from the start, so please understand that it will not be possible to do this for the entire game.

TL;DR: we're making pets disappear less in dynamis

Dangit SE we want the mob-hogging types of BSTs nerfed, not buffed!

I wouldn't blame the translator/translation, I'm pretty sure the Japanese doesn't make much sense considering the people in charge at the source don't understand anything themselves.

The only stupid thing I see this announcement is the fact that they want to make nerfed jugs cost more, It's not really needed.

Could be either way tbh... Implying that Avatars don't persist when zoning even though they do.

I personally play for the idea of the game and not the developers themselves. I respect Square and what they've done for this game, the games they've made in the past, and future games to come, but I don't think they have what it takes to run a proper premium MMORPG.

The idea of what FFXI is deep down does not exist anywhere else, not even close, and this is why I think players stay around (if not just to stay around friends they've made over the years).

increase respawn rate in dynamis based on rate of kills. that would address bst issues by making them less annoying

Or they could just make WS and Magic procs less shitty to hit so that there are a lot more viable camps and people can spread out more. But again, they're too inept to think this way.

Not arguing that. Just saying his quote was a bit childish in my opinion. Like how a lot of CoD fans say the game is a reskin. Which i think it is but im not a fan. Yet they still buy it every time it comes out.

I just think his choice of words weren't the best.

Also just because an argument is old doesn't make it less relevant.

yeah i agree with faster respawns, it would make life a lot easier at certain camps. That said as long as you can only keep 1 mob claimed stealing mobs from bsts is fairly simple.

Not really, since they're completely accurate. SE's shown their ineptitude on multiple occasions, and their inability to recognize systems within their own game drive the point home even more. You're free to have a differing opinion if you want to ignore the facts, though.

Your argument is irrelevant because it's irrelevant. I could just completely carbon copy what Kal wrote a few posts up, but you can just read that again if you want.

Or i can argue that your choice of words were poor. which they were.

"We're stupid and think we know how to make an MMO" implies that they failed since day 1 of releasing this MMO. Yet im pretty sure everyone loved this game when it was first released. And only after several years of playing did this game start losing what it once had. i will say ToAU is when most people thought it was going downhill.

Please correct me where im wrong. also if you didn't enjoy the game then why play? if you did enjoy the game at some point then i think that they succeeded at making a MMO. Just not keeping it at the same level that it once was at.

Maybe if for some reason you're taking a response to this particular post in this particular thread as context toward the last decade of game development rather than the last couple of years or so, which would be incorrect. The game's gone through readily noticeable development patterns, the current of which falls in line with my words exactly.

The virtues of a previous development team's ideas and methods do not excuse the ineptitude of another's.

Ya idk why people would ask for charmed pets to zone too...

Don't see the issue with jug pets being able to zone, myself, but the idea of charmed pets being able to do the same shows obvious flaws. Having to spend an extra 2k on a new jug and waste a JA timer isn't so much a balancing effect as much as it is annoying.

What SE failed at was not making a successful MMO. They failed at keeping it relevant with other competition in the industry, and mostly failed at listening to what players asked for vs beating them over the head repeatedly with what SE felt made the most sense.

Though i thinks that a bit more difficult than ppl think. Even WoW is failing now.

Though i still hate VWs drop system.

Blizzard's made similar stupid decisions. For instance, they recently added an item that you can "buy" that levels you to 5 levels under cap instantly and gives you gear and ***.

then people would obviously farm too fast and quit the game sooner

If you sit and think about it, it actually makes sense that such is the outcome.

They would literally have to code each and every charmable mob for every zone (including all mob target levels)which is either impossible or would take way too long to implement.

Jug Pets work similar to the summoning system, where the summon mob either exists server side, or in a location outside of the physical zone data.

Yeah, Blizzard's dropped the ball almost as hard as SE has tbh.
