Except it's not some crackpot tenets or outlier. It's one of the distinguishing factors that separate mormonism from other christian beliefs.
One of the central themes of mormonism is to "Americanize" christianity. As in, Jesus went to America after he resurrected, the garden of eden was in Missouri and so forth.
Being able to prove that the Native Americans were not a lost tribe of Isrealites is like proving that Jesus wasn't born of a virgin. It deals a huge blow to one of the pillars of the belief.

Well that's the thing about religion, it's based entirely in superstition even if logic and evidence dictates otherwise, you can believe what you want, even if it's not true.
Just kind of makes you a fool.

Gay marriage made illegal, birth control becoming heavily managed with many forms outright made illegal, blasphemy laws, disintegrating the separation of church and state, internet crackdown laws? The hell?
Are we in the 15th century or what?

"Green" is a distorted word. For the common person, it means reducing how much you use and mitigating impact on the environment, while maintaining our current life style. For companies, "Green" is reducing costs and maximizing profits, while keeping up good PR and advertising under the allusion that they are doing the same as the common person.
Green is a buzzword and nothing more than a collectivist philosophy which intends to limit and restrict ones ability to live their life as free as they want to. The earth is practically made of hydro carbons and new technologies are always being developed to harness them. The "Green" community is responsible for keeping abundant cheap energy from the people, insisting on limiting development of working solutions in the pursuit of consistently unreliable sources like solar and wind.

I swear I've heard this somewhere before..
(and no, I'm not suggesting that organic compounds are all beneficial, but self-referential justification for "harnessing" natural resources shows a severe lack of chemistry know-how)

The sun is both unreliable & expensive. As a power source, yes, it is extremely unreliable. You are aware that solar cells don't work beyond certain latitude lines.
A bit off topic, but we as a nation really should invest in Nuclear power. Far more power output than any coal/gas/hydro plant, and with the exception of perhaps Hydro, it's far cleaner energy.

Or we could cease with the winner takes all approach and collectively subsidize and invest in things that aren't going to turn us into Venus.

Or advocates of inferior power sources(though by no means bad) could stop insisting that Nuclear Power is bad. I'd be content with that.

As with most areas of progressive interest, fear of nuclear power is the direct result of no understanding of nuclear power.

Asinine reasons. Nothing is perfect, but nuclear power is relatively clean, relatively safe, and relatively efficient.

Edit: It's not that nuclear power plant isn't a viable source of energy when handled properly... but there are valid and serious concerns when it comes to nuclear generated power...
While I don't have direct experience with running a plant... I have a lot of second hand experience...

That doesn't mean you should go and drink seawater.
Carbon Dioxide is only about 3% of that atmosphere you say? Seawater only has about a 3.5% salinity content. Doesn't mean we should drink seawater.

If you seriously believe that changing the mixture of our atmosphere from .00004% CO2 to .00005% or .0007% or .002% will turn us into Venus then I suggest you use that plenty capable brain of yours to observe that global warming:
1) Hasn't occurred over the past decade
2) Happens regardless of weather we (man) burn fossil fuels.
Given those two facts, why wouldn't we continue to seek out the best ways to provide cheap abundant energy to as many people as possible to enrich our lives?

Venus wasn't always the hell planet it is today.. Venus is a 'runaway greenhouse'.. That CO2 (and I'm sure other gasses) started this reaction.. The hotter it got, the more was released into the atmosphere, and in turn increased the heat even further.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not sitting here campaigning for Al Gore or something.. But to ignore what Venus is today and what it used to be (well at least according to many scientists) is just ignorant.

One of the biggest problems with nuclear energy is that we still don't have a place to dispose of it... The waste basically sits beneath the plants... they were supposed to make a site for disposal but Sen. Reid will not let it pass... There is a lot of waste produced... So while it may be cleaner for the air... it still produces a good amount of dangerous waste that we still don't have an efficient way to dispose of...
While it is cheaper to generate it the cost is offset by the people you have to hire to run and maintain the site properly and the facility you have to build and maintain to make the environment safe...
These facilities also need to be built away from the population... If kept to code and you take all factors into account such as natural disasters and such... you should be able to build a facility safe enough that there is an extremely low chance for anything to ever go wrong but if something does you don't want it anywhere near the general population...
Those are just the basic things...

“Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions."

Like the title says... The time is coming soon, where we will vote for our new President...... Personally, I believe the only person that would actually be good for this country is Ron Paul, everyone else seems like a bullshitter!
so who do you like?
