So now that we know I accidentally missed a ( in my original math, and that other than that everything I was doing was correct, let's look at thunder and windbuffet belts again.
w/ fighters roll, 50% DA.
Windbuffet
((((280*2.1)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*2.1092)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3451
Thunder
((((280*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*2)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3450
30% DA
Windbuffet
((((280*2.1)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1.7212)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3144
Thunder
((((280*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1.60)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3133
20% DA
Windbuffet
((((280*2.1)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1.5272)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
2990
Thunder
((((280*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1.40)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
2974
Even though I missed some ('s, the end result is still the same. At best (when you only have 20% DA during WS) Windbuffet is a 0.5% damage increase, but if you have Fighter's roll (which puts DA up to around 50%) it's no longer better, it performs pretty much exactly the same. This is exactly what I originally said about windbuffet, so if you find a 0.5% damage increase when you have low buffs and no ACC concerns worth -1 inventory, and 1.2+ million gil... then go ahead and keep it. Generally speaking, when you don't have fighters roll, you have 25%~ DA, which drops windbuffet to only being 0.35%~ better, so I guess thats the number I should really be using instead of 0.5%, as thats the maximum for how much better it can be compared to where it really falls.
I agree, good job.
And strangely enough, Wanion belt (8 STR 8 DEX) actually beats both if you gain 1% crit rate from it, even if you don't get any fSTR.
This is the one part of my statement about belts that was not true, you will have to get at least 2% crit rate for Wanion to win. Which means you should only use it if it pushes your DEX to at least 41 over the mobs AGL. I was kind of surprised when Wanion won with 1 crit rate to begin with, but the corrected problem will probably reduce Heca+1 pants effectiveness too, not sure how much yet, but I'll let you all know in a minute.
Unless I did something very wrong, Heca pants+1 with 4 crit rate always win.
90% base crit rate, 4wsc and 2 fstr from af2+2, and only getting 4 crit rate from heca+1, and not counting the attack gains on heca+1 over af2+2, because your attack is capped and you have 2.2 pdif
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 2 fstr
((((245*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.9)*1.22)+(2.2*.1))+
((245*1)*(((3*.9)*1.22)+(2.2*.1)))+
(((245*.6)*1.03)*(((3*.9)*1.22)+(2.2*.1)))
3419
heca+1 pants 95 crit
((((239*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.95)*1.22)+(2.2*.05))+
((239*1.54)*(((3*.95)*1.22)+(2.2*.05)))
3338
In my extreme example, Heca+1 no longer win. Which I didn't actually think they should of won to begin with, so this falls in line with what I originally expected. So the statement that they always win is no longer true. Now to just determine when/how/if they can win. Just as a note, we'll be using thunder belt and gorget for this since I already stated that I think windbuffet is crap.
25% DA 50% Crit, These are about the average for DA and Crit rate so we will do them first, then compare some different options. We're going to use very high attack values since these pants comparisons are for weaker content where you do not need the ACC on Ogiers.
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 2 fstr 28% DA
((((280*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))+
((280*.56)*1.03)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3114
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 28% DA
((((278*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((278*1)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))+
((278*.56)*1.03)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3092
heca+1 pants 55 crit +5%
((((274*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.55)*1.22)+(2*.45))+
((274*1.5)*(((3*.55)*1.22)+(2*.45)))
3076
54 crit +4%
((((274*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.54)*1.22)+(2*.46))+

Ogiers
((((274*2.2)*1.1)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((274*1.5)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3039
At this point I really expected Heca+1 to pull ahead, but they didn't. So lets try adding a bit of pdif to the 2 so we gain something from the attack on Heca+1 and see if that helps.

Looking at my WAR with AF2+2 on with hasso and berserk up we can see I have 847 attack, add in a red curry bun and I would basically have 1000 even. So if that is 2 pDIF, mob has 500 defense and then Ogiers would give 1013, Heca+1 1015, even gonna throw in Avant+1 for good measure.
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 2 fstr

af2+2 pants 4 wsc

((280*1.54)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2.03*.5)))
3101
Avant+1 4WSC
((((278*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2.03*.5))+
((278*1.54)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2.03*.5)))
3079
heca+1 pants 55 crit +5%
((((274*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.55)*1.22)+(2.03*.45))+
((274*1.5)*(((3*.55)*1.22)+(2.03*.45)))
3090
54 crit +4%
((((274*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.54)*1.22)+(2.03*.46))+
((274*1.5)*(((3*.54)*1.22)+(2.03*.46)))

3053
So even giving Heca+1 some reasonable gains from attack they can't beat AF2+2 without fSTR. So lets try adding Fighters roll and see if it hurts AF2+2 or helps it and just bump the DA up to 50%.
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 2 fstr
((((280*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))+

3473
af2+2 pants 4 wsc

((280*1.98)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2.03*.5)))
3452
Avant+1 4WSC
((((278*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2.03*.5))+
((278*1.98)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2.03*.5)))
3427
heca+1 pants 55 crit +5%
((((274*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.55)*1.22)+(2.03*.45))+
((274*1.94)*(((3*.55)*1.22)+(2.03*.45)))
3443
54 crit +4%
((((274*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.54)*1.22)+(2.03*.46))+
((274*1.94)*(((3*.54)*1.22)+(2.03*.46)))
3424
Ogiers
((((280*2.2)*1.1)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2.026*.5))+
((274*1.94)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2.026*.5)))
3437
And AF2+2 still win, with Ogiers always trailing way behind. Reduce the crit rate to the minimum it could be, and Heca+1 should break even with AF2+2, but I really don't see any situation where Heca+1 can actually beat AF2+2, aside from when using them to break into the 40-50 DEX over mob AGL range, since it would require the attack mattering a lot, and then ACC would matter too and you'd be back to using Ogiers anyway.
But this makes me think about that 27% DA~ windbuffet belt build for weaker content. Can the enhance DA damage 3% on AF2+2 legs bring using thunder belt up to par with windbuffet in this scenario?
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 2 fstr 27% DA Thunder belt
((((280*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))+
((280*.54)*1.03)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3098
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 2 fstr 27% DA Windbuffet belt
((((280*2.1)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1.1392)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))+
((280*.5238)*1.03)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3110
Nope, Windbuffet still wins, but not by enough to justify -1 inventory to me, and I assume lots of other people too.
Adding in Duplus Grip:
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 2 fstr 27% DA Thunder belt
((((280*2.2)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))+
((280*.6)*1.03)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3147
af2+2 pants 4 wsc 2 fstr 27% DA Windbuffet belt
((((280*2.1)*1.07)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5))+
((280*1.1392)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))+
((280*.582)*1.03)*(((3*.5)*1.22)+(2*.5)))
3158
Recap: Wanion and Heca legs+1 are back to being dDEX only set. Sell Windbuffet and use Thunder belt forever, use AF2+2 legs forever unless you need ACC on Ogiers.
Clicking submit now and then going back to double check everything, it's been a long time writing all this, and I dont want to accidentally close this and lose it all or something.
