I had a pass from another friend but I got to about level 20 and it felt very hack and slashy and I was kind of disappointed.
Lv20 is still extremely early, you don't learn most of your big combo finishers and builders until 40-50. Each class that myself and friends on Discord have played has multiple combo trees based on the situation, and the combos expand even further (like my pp) at lv56 when you get your Awakening weapon, effectively adding a second playstyle to your character.
