Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
thorny's pressure comment is a common one, so much so there is a image to illustrate the concept
His explanation is right, it just kinda defeats the point of keeping it short and simple. A live conductor isn't actively pushing against anything, it's just waiting to touch something with a lower potential to equalize. But, when visualizing how a tool works or how a battery discharges at the layman level, it's not meaningfully different from hydraulic pressure.

Electricity is not only particles and waves, its also a fluid. Sorry electrical engineer here, my chances to put my knowledge in any general conversation is close to zero, need to jump when I can! People's response to finding out that information is generally to talk to someone else, rather than ask follow up questions. >.>
My first thought of pressure was like air or water which is basically intrinsic to the surrounding. Whereas potential requires an external force to activate (for voltage this "completing the circuit" (i.e. plug it in, turn it on)). Didn't really think about hydraulics. Like i said nitpicky anyways. The yard the mower was purchased for has a lot of stuff in it to maneuver around so a riding mower wouldn't work well for the job. Since every brand has to have their own battery system, the batteries being a large chunk of the price and everyone most likely already has a certain brands power tools + batteries in their household there isn't much of a choice. It doesn't matter if I mow the lawn or cut wood with the chainsaw. I often have the impression there is not enough power both in force and duration for the yard work I'm doing, in particular if I'm doing tasks that I've used gas powered tools for in the past. And it's not just power, the chainsaw for instance frequently seems to shut down cause it's overheating (independent of oil status) so you have to wait a bit before you can continue. What really pisses me off is when the tool shuts down to save power cause you had ~15 seconds of downtime. Imho electric is nice and convenient for easy to medium yard work but to be honest I often find it's not quite there yet. Shichishito said: » or cut wood with the chainsaw. Shichishito said: » the chainsaw for instance frequently seems to shut down cause it's overheating (independent of oil status) Yea, I haven't been impressed with electric chainsaws. As much as I hate mixing gas, they fall short even for light homeowner work. Killed two Dewalt ones in a month just clearing some ~10yr growth when I bought my property. I don't feel the same about my mower, I use it for towing a lawn cart and mowing and it's fine. Very responsive and zippy, no gas smell, easy to maintain. Don't really like that there aren't replacement parts for the motors, but I'll probably figure out a way to do an upgrade when it comes time to replace them. IDK I will first take a look at his resume before allowing him to visit us more often. For offending some minority out there
Fine, I'll bite.
WTF is up with Needohs? I've been looking in multiple stores in multiple states (my teenager asks about them...nonstop), so finally I need to stop by Learning Express to pick up a gift for a party tomorrow (for a different kid) and my teenager is like they got Needohs there get me one. The store is busier than normal I find a whole wall full of squishy things and no Needohs, she texts me I think they're behind the register, sure enough, huge stack of them there, explains why there's 10 people in line with nothing in their hands, apparently you can only buy so many. Like even if you think the product is cool, not sure anything is worth the aggravation, and why do you need 50 of them? I'm sure this is just another toy fad that supply can't keep up with (cough cough Cabbage Patch Kids, Furbies, Beanie Babies etc... c. 2026) I clearly didn't get that gene that makes me want things because others have them now leave me alone while I listen to my obscure metal and play my 24 year old game and get off my lawn. Had training last week for work
Went out of town over the weekend for debauchery Then spent all of this week trying to do data recovery on our SAN without sufficient replacement drives No time for shitposting, ive been gym slacking too cuz of it I drank a lot of pineapple juice though

Same with light. There's no way of knowing if the states of matter are even intrinsic, or a property of the medium they are in. Garuda.Chanti said: » Did you mean, he was just normal? Didn't know the Malcolm in the middle series was just a 4 part movie.
They did pretty good. It feels just like the show used to. Disappointed there isn't more. Fenrir.Brimstonefox said: » Fine, I'll bite. WTF is up with Needohs? It's a tiktok thing. They've been around forever for sensory seekers, but tiktok made them a "must have" thing. Now people buy a ton to flip for profit like every other fad. Speaking of batteries, why do we have to put up with every manufacturer making their own lithium batteries that only fit their stuff?
Remember these?
I first used the create AI avatar of Capcut. And I must say Im just sad that those credits are consumed so fast.
But I enjoyed my avatar Fenrir.Niflheim said: » thorny's pressure comment is a common one, so much so there is a image to illustrate the concept ![]() It's not just common. It is a fundamental law of nature. Both classical mechanics and electricity/magnetism adhere to this concept, even from a mathematical/calculus standpoint. Don't make me share the math, just take my word for it: (distance/speed, velocity/acceleration, impulse/pressure) and (quantity of charge, voltage (charge per unit area), wattage, etc) are the same derivate/integral formulae. The intersection of math and nature is neat! Edit: I saw thorny's image of hot women tying each other up, lol....I need to refresh the page when I start typing a reply. -_-; OK, back on thread, ...I'm thinking about how neurodivergent and autistic people struggle to form relationships with neurotypical people. Why? Where's the disconnect?
I'm thinking about some empirical rules that apply to all different kinds of relationships, that might help neurodivergent people navigate a friend group. Basically, social hierarchies follow some basic rules: Rule #1: Agree to the ranking. You're expected to sense everyone's status and adjust yourself accordingly. If you treat everyone the same, you've already broken this rule. Rule #2: Protect the narrative. Every hierarchy runs on a story. Let's say that someone gets labeled: too much, too sensitive, or the problem. If you question that story, you don't just challenge the label, you threaten the structure of the social hierarchy. Rule #3: Don't outshine the system. Independence in a friend group is tolerated until it shifts power. If you refuse to shrink, refuse to flatter, refuse to comply quietly, you don't just "not fit", you threaten the pecking order. So, if you're autistic or neurodivergent and you're excluded from a friend group, you might not necessarily have failed socially, you probably just didn't follow rules you didn't know existed. (Disclaimer: Obviously, there will be people who are exceptions to these rules, like *** or antagonists, but I'm not talking about those people. I'm going to assume we have a minimum level of understanding and emotional intelligence here. Just to reiterate: these rules are probably automatically understood and implied by neurotypical people). Some good TV shows out now.
Daredevil looks like it's back to its best. Not sure about the now I can fight too! and oh and we're also f***ing new relationship with his lady friend. Dodik said: » Some good TV shows out now. Daredevil and The Boys has been excellent so far! But...ok, I do like a lot of things about the show Invincible.... but I hate Robert Kirkman's method of storytelling. You spend 58 minutes wondering why you watch an episode, why we're in a certain setting, why certain characters are involved ...and in the last 2 minutes, you get a very weak, loose connection to the main story. It's a fake carbon-copy of comic book story-telling directly transfered to TV. |
