I didn't care for Scarface. Great tragedy, I think, requires the audience at some point to connect with the main character. I never felt a connection to Tony Montana, and I would say he doesn't fill the role of tragic hero all too well. However, there is some thing to say about modern tragedy and the role of the tragic hero. Even so, I don't feel Tony Montana satisfied the requirements for a modern tragic hero either.

I know how much scarface is hyped.. but I really have to say it's one of the better movies out there. Al pacino at his best is really one of a kind experience. They don't make a lot of actors like that.

Have you watched the orginal movie, with Paul Muni? I like that one slightly better. If you take into account of when it was made, it's actually quite brutal. :o

Probably not the best movie scene ever but it's one that has stuck with and terrified me since the moment I saw it. I must have only been about 10 or 11 and my brother (who's 5 years older than me) had this on video, so I watched it with him and a few of his friends and all the way through they told me it was real ;_;

The first time I watched scarface, it was during a night of alcohol with my friend. I fell asleep right at the beginning and woke up during the bathroom chainsaw scene! That memory will stay with me for life lol.
