As a Canadian, like Calcunatrix, I cannot agree more. IF your new health system, turns into like ours, it will be just the wait times... <shrugs>.

find someone who truly will not step out of the "Golden Mean", and I will show you a Republican whose for Abortion, and a green dog that speaks Spanish.

Anyone who is truly 1 way, whole heatedly, set in stone 100% of the time is a rare thing. I personally for the most part (i said MOST part)sit pretty close to the middle, i lean more right on a variety of issues and lean left for others (the right issues out number the left) Which is why i registered republican. I identify as a republican, but does that mean that i can;t have some democratic ideals? Infact why do we even label them by 2 labels there are varying degrees of agreement. You can agree with abortion as a womans right to chose but disagree with late term, why does it have to be 1 or the other.

This is where the "The golden mean" comes into play, it is finding the middle in any given situation, not that every situation has the same middle, Look more into Plato if you believe in 1 ultimate solution or equation for all of life's issue.

In counter to your question, Find me 1 person who identifies perfectly with every single "ideal" of a specific party and i will exchange it for your republican repping abortion.

Also, might I point out that what I might call greed, you might call self-justification. What you might call justified, I might call ***. Opinions are opinions, and you can boo someone else's opinion all you want, and that doesn't make yours (or mine) right.

I'm not saying Canadian health care is the best, far from it! No way, man, it's got problems like every other system.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say American medical technology is the best in the world! And if you want to know why~ some (not many, some) Canadians travel south for health care, its because the technology is better and because the government PAYS for it. Yes, they cover american surgeries, too. I'm just really tired of hearing the falsities about our system from the media.

All that matters to you, in the end, is how you view the situation. If you give the government, who'se job is to handle money, money, and they help you out, and you wait a few hours if you're not urgently in need, and dont wait if you are, does that bother you? Or would you rather horde your money and pay out of pocket yourself?

You mean the guy who needed special heart surgery that required open chest and breaking ribs and decided to get it done somewhere else because that procedure just hasn't needed to be done enough here yet? That guy? Yeah. nbd.

You know what? I read two to three pages of this discussion and I started laughing. Anyone can say that a person needs to 'earn' healthcare, or that they shouldn't be taxed for helping others. And you know why? Because they have never been in that situation where they needed to go to the hospital or were diagnosed with a disease. But when you're in that situation where you were denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition, or if you need help because you have cancer and no insurance company wants to offer you health insurance, you are going to be *** glad this bill passed.

That is all.

No I should not have to pay for anyone's health care but my own and that of my family. I work for my coverage and so can anyone else that wants it.

And quit giving hypothetical situations that are supposed to somehow make me feel sorry for all the people that don't have health care. I don't care, I'm not going to care, and no situation that you can present here can make me care. The ONLY people that I care about are myself my family and my friends. And anything that will take away their hard earned money to provide anything for (insert whatever group here) is crap.

What the hell, they aren't hypothetical situations there real life situations that happens. Excuse me for saying this but it's that type of attitude where you don't give a ***a bout your fellow man that makes America look bad.

lol. That hypothetical situation was not to make you feel sorry for anyone. I am simply just stating the obvious. It's easy for everyone to say that this bill is ***, because they never have been denied coverage when they could no longer foot the multi-thousand dollar bill for their care.

If you don't like it leave the country.

And don't give me the whole 'this is my country so I should have a say in what happens.' Or the 'This is my country and this country was founded on the belief of the people, and I don't agree with this,' ***.

All because you don't agree doesn't mean that the entire population should suffer because you are fortunate enough to have a job that allows you to afford healthcare, not everyone is in you're situation.

The simple truth is this, more lives are going to be saved, more people are going to have health coverage, and companies are no longer allowed to deny coverage. Taxes are inevitable, everyone and their mother has to pay them, whether you live in the U.S, Canada, or Australia.

Explain then, why you don't think this would be a disaster. Explain why you don't think the economy will drop out from all the taxation caused from this? Explain why you don't think that companies will go out of businesses because they can't afford to keep up with all these new taxes they have to pay? Side note of this question, actually look at the bill, they have to pay 2 more taxes for each employee because of this, one for the insurred, and one for the uninsurred. Explain why you don't think this won't cause a higher unemployment rate, or that companies, in order to survive, have to lay off people to pay for this new tax. Explain why you think the government is actually responsible to say what medicine you should take, how much of it, and who you should go see. Explain why you think this is a good idea to limit research and development from medical companies by taxing them higher just because they have to charge more to pay for the R&D. Please, explain it all to me.
It will affect the economy, nobody said it wouldn't. Did you forget the HEALTH part? Could help a little bit fixing a problem called Obesity. I heard it's a big health problem in america!
your not gonna get skinny going to the damn hospital.. why are ppl so retarted?? plus Obesity isnt as "big" of a problem as the NEWS would have u think... once again, cant ppl think for themselves anymore?

Dude.. you live in a closet? Heart Disease is the Number 1 killer of Americans.... Obesity is a BIG problem.. (no Pun intended)

lol /sigh.. ill tell u a little secret, while being a fat *** can cause Heart Disease, u can also be a fat *** w/o Heart Disease. "yes it is omg possible" also guess what! u can be a skinny guy and have Heart Disease as well. so get out of your dank little cage and stop getting your facts from the 24hr news.

before i hear but but Obesity is a BIG problem.. again!! mabey those large ppl should go to the gym instead of the hospital.. but hey why have any common sense? ><

@Altimaomega

my wife and i have also had a few of those "visits" to the hospital. Its amazing that tens of thousands of dollars can be spent when A. u are misdiagnosed B. there is little to no service C. little too no actual merchandise has been used
D. u get things that are not needed/wanted

THIS IS WHY HEALTH CARE COST SO DAMN MUCH, NOT INSURANCE!!!

sorry for caps i think my button got stuck..... but really doctors/hospitals are the biggest scam ever to be invented. there is no reason for 90% of the stuff that is done to cost nearly what they charge.

i have no insurance, i went in for stitch's "waited in lobby for 3hrs, bleeding to death" there was 3 ppl infront of me the whole time, who looked to me and my wife perfectly fine. when i get back to see the NURSE not doctor.. she quickly "whole thing took 5MIN" GLUED yes i said GLUED.. my 5inch gash shut.. 1 month later i get a bill for 500$ FOR 5minutes of a nurse's time and glue, now u tell me whats wrong here.....................

one more since im ranting. wife gets gall bladder taken out. we made oppointment, showed up at hospital the operation literally took 15 minutes, after the operation while i was talking to the nurse, she says they gave 7 more scheduled for that day.. 1 month later i get the bill.... 13k for 15minute's of a doctors time and w/e equipment they used.. lets see 13k X 8ppl = $832,000 they made that day.... and we think we need better insurance!! i think we need to start finding out why the hell they are TAKING THIS MONEY...

and before all u ppl say ohhh the doctors are saving lives and they need that money cause there just so smart and nobody else can do it. u kinda ppl can just shove it right now. ^
|
yeah.. Quote isn't working for me |
|
|
about this---------------------------

Why is it okay to pay some dumb *** 10 million a year to toss a football around.. but it's not okay to pay a Doctor a few thousand for saving your life? GTFO

what the hell does that have anything to do with what i said? but since your on that subject, thats fuVking insane as well. before u *** at someone for something they didnt even say. THINK asshat.

You want to know what grinds my gears? the fact that i pay taxes in colorado and they use some of that money to fix roads i have never nor will ever drive on. that pisses me off. those people can pay for their own goddamn roads. Infact i think we need to go to a greek method of city-states so that we only fund the city (or polis) that we live in since i only utilize things in my city.

The fact that my federal taxes help fund he same military that defends you pisses me off. i should only fund the guys that defend me personally. This isn't Fair!!!!
