YouTube Video Placeholder I used this version of Awakening as background audio for the final boss in a virtual D&D game I ran. The original song is excellent given the limitations back in the day, but I really wouldn't doubt this orchestral composition is closer to what Kumi Tanioka had in mind.

I feel like I should limit myself to just one song from League of Legends per page because otherwise that's probably all I'd post.
In response to the unusual but wonderfully bassy and solid Splash Woman remix above, I've just gotta share the theme of another mermaid. The whole song not only tells Nami's entire story and captures her personality, but it also ebbs and flows like water on the shore. It's not the most exceptional of Riot's music, but it is one of the most perfect. And this song is 9 years old now! YouTube Video Placeholder

My only knowledge of Lost Odyssey comes from an episode of Unskippable, as I never owned an Xbox. Damn if that isn't Nobuo Uematsu himself though. The intro for that song reminds me of this artefact:
YouTube Video Placeholder Robin Beanland is another composer who doesn't get enough credit. The metallic sounds in tune to the music really add a lot of flavour to this one. Even though the song sounds pretty dated, the elements which elevate it do so with gusto.

YouTube Video Placeholder If you like this, you may like to know that the soundtracks for the NES and the Famicom versions used different software(hardware?) so the two sound pretty distinct sonically. I prefer different versions at different times.

I remamber meeting lirum 3 hours in the game motivated me to finish the game from sheer anger now thats a good story if a game does that to your emotions! Transition cutscene to battle is insane still to this day 3:02- 3:15
