Driving Pet Peeves!

Title says it all really... What pisses you off when you're driving.

People who drive in the left lane (widely acknowledged in Canada as the "fast" lane) and do the same speed as cars in the other lane essentially blocking you from passing.

I could go on and on and on and on.... But I'd like to hear from some others!

People that speed up to pass and then slow down when they're in front of you.

Lol I'm pretty sure ppl get pissed at cyclist on the right side of the road. Ppl always blare their horn at me, even though I'm perfectly right to be there (because they'd prolly prefer if I was on the sidewalk, but fk that, it's much slower and I'm allowed to be on the road, so yea). They also never follow the rule of having to be three feet away to pass me.

Someone you're driving around comments on your driving. If you want to comment then either you can drive or GTFO of my car and walk!

people who give directions, especially when they say to turn right here as I'm passing the right turn.

People who yap on the phone loud enough that I can't hear myself think.

I generally dislike cyclists

Seeing cops on the road. Hate that more than anything.

Lack of turn signal use.
People stopping past the white line at a traffic light, then continually creeping up as if that will make the light change faster.
People driving 15mph UNDER the speed limit.
Amish (horse and buggys).
Farm Tractors on a busy road at 5 pm (I see this a lot on my way home from work).

I'll stop there, but I could go on for hours.

When I get boxed in by slow drivers. Could be four-lanes (two in each direction) and there will be two idiots who drive the same speed so you're unable to pass either of them. Pisses me off, that's when I ride the bumper and flash the lights though.

Or when you try to speed up to pass another car and the car in the lane next to you speeds up when you do.

Finally pedestrians who cross the street slowly outside of designated crossing areas. They see you coming but they continue walking as if you don't exist (not like they have a limp, or are old).

I disagree. When you can travel as fast as a car and not hold up traffic, as well as obey the laws that all cars "follow", I'll accept your right to be there.

And don't get me started on those tards who bike in the winter...

I have a simple Philosophy for this:
If you are in THAT much of a hurry to get in front of me...
You should be in THAT much of a hurry to get AWAY from me.

People who use the Right lane to pass at a stop light and cut people off in an intersection because there are cars parked just past the light...

If the right lane is dedicated to parking its not a GD lane!!! Wait in line like all the people who are obeying the law...

Sad thing is that it happens so often that cops dont even do anything about it.

Well, honestly, riding a bike on the sidewalk is kinda of like riding on a road w/ a speedbump every 5 feet. You can't maintain speed because of all the bumps and cracks in the sidewalk. When it takes you a couple seconds to go around me vs me taking 25%+ longer to get to my destination (I can't do close to my road speed on a sidewalk), you're going to have to pass me. Cars can pass me in the same manner they would pass a slow driver.

I got hit while riding my bike once. The officer said that because I was on the sidewalk I was in the wrong, and that had I been in the street (where bikes belong he told me) that I would have a case. Just wanted to toss that out there for all you cyclists.

I truly cannot stand it when people cross the street (j-walk mostly) and they take their sweet *** time. This happens in two places, on campus and in the ghetto areas.

And I hate cyclists, I don't care if your 200-speed bike can go up to 50mph, you're not gonna speed past me in my V6.

how did you get hit when you were on the sidewalk, and how were YOU in the wrong for being there?

I guess if you were in the road and got hit, it would make more sense.

If I didn't have school/work so far away I'd likely bike. I think they need to be more proactive in adding bike lanes to streets and have bikers stick to those lanes.

The bike lane is generally on the far most right hand side of the road anyways, which is where bikers are supposed to ride to begin with, unless making a left turn.

When you're at an intersection trying to make a turn, but you can't because someone is coming. So you wait. They're coming really slowly, but you have to wait. Anytime now... here they come, almost there - wait, what's this ?!

They turn right with no signal. You could've gone if they had signaled, but now there's more traffic. And at least 3 more people do the same thing. Time wasted ftl. D:

It's actually illegal for bikes to ride on the sidewalk, it's for pedestrians only. Especially if there's already a designated bike lane. (Something like that.)

arrow A person propelling a vehicle by human power upon and along a sidewalk, or across a roadway upon and along a crosswalk, has all the rights and duties applicable to a pedestrian under the same circumstances.

Comment: Sidewalks are not designed for bicycle speeds, but a bicycle propelled by human power may be used except where prohibited by local ordinance (e.g. in the central business districts of many cities). No bicycle may be propelled by other than human power on a sidewalk. Although a cyclist riding on a sidewalk has the rights and duties of a pedestrian, he is still a "bicycle rider" and his bicycle is still a "bicycle". Consequently, laws that pertain to required equipment and to carriage of passengers (see above) are still applicable.

Since a cyclist riding on a sidewalk does not have the duties (or rights) of a driver, he may ride in either direction. (However, it is safer to ride in the direction of traffic, since drivers do not expect cyclists to come from the other direction at driveways and crosswalks. Crash risk is 3 to 4 times as great for sidewalk riders who ride facing roadway traffic as for sidewalk riders who ride in the direction of traffic.)

At a signalized intersection, a sidewalk rider must obey the instructions of any applicable pedestrian control signal. If no pedestrian signal is provided, the cyclist may proceed in accordance with the signal indications for the parallel roadway traffic flow (Section 316.075, F.S.).

I ride everywhere, mostly on the sidewalk. I see guys with their racing bikes and reflective orange vests riding down the bike lanes, while me and my stunt bike race down the sidewalk.

Lol the little town I live in doesn't have bike lanes, but we have enough people riding bikes because of DUI's that they should give them a bike lane.
