ASURA - Yilbegan's Groundhog Day - Shadow Hunt

Good day fellow achievement / Title hunters!

As many of you may or may not know, one of the rarer titles is Yilbegan Hideflayer, the Tier 4 Voidwalker NM. These titles are on the rarer side due to the nature of how time consuming it is to farm his pop item, Black Abyssite, paired with how uncommon the "Shadowed" versions of the voidwalkers are. If Yilbegan spawns w/ no shadow... no dice. He wont drop the outdated cool lv 75 rings, and he wont award a title.

Awhile back someone made a bounty for Black Abyssites on Bahamut and banded together a big crew, and this was before more people were interested in Mastery Rank due to the Hoxne Earring.

Lets do the same here on Asura:

Day after turkey day... get out of your thanksgiving coma and come pop some dragons.

As an additional carrot on a stick beyond just the title, we'll be offering a 2 million gil Bounty for each Black Abyssite donated to the cause and a 20 million gil Jackpot if your abyssite has the shadow hidden in it.

Gather, invites out, form a full alliance, then each individual picks a zone to pop him and find the shadow. Looking to get 18 ppl to earn the title PLUS 7 alts.

It appears as though everyone actually wants the title... and the bounty was a non-factor. As a result we don't currently have enough people for all 25 zones, unless some additional people wanting bounty/not caring about title show up w/ Black Abyssites OR current attendees being more alts to fill zones.

Why is there no word about this shadow version on any of the Wikis?

Edit: It is mentioned on the FFXIClopedia Article on Voidwalkers in general:

"Many players have observed greatly varying difficulty and behavior among the same Voidwalkers. This has led some players to speculate that there are NQ and HQ versions of each Voidwalker. Tier II NMs or below appear to occasionally spawn without the ability to use 2-hour abilities or the altered behavior of their TP attacks, though this may be a bug rather than an intentional gameplay mechanic. Tier III or above have been observed to frequently spawn without a shadow beneath their in-game model, which indicates that players will not receive a title upon their defeat. Players have also observed and speculated that while these NMs will drop synthesis items and Magian trial materials, they cannot drop rings. Which version spawns appears to be completely random. "

There's a few words about it, but only a few - not a lot of emphasis on it, likely because nobody truly cared until title hunter brainworms:
(I have never heard a reliable report of shadow losing or gaining, pretty sure that's total nonsense.)

Oh wow you guys gonna do it and hit all 25, nice! Please try and test Thorny's theory with someone on #26 if possible. That is, first spawn after all 25 is a guaranteed shadow. Best way to accomplish it imo would be spawn one and kill, wait ~30min, all 24 others directly above theirs ready to spawn and aim to spawn near same time.

I mean, we need more ppl's alts for that. I doubt everyone here will want to come just for the bounty and no title, but we'll see!

I have all T3 pops, will try and farm an abyssite. Would like title, but as with the 1/24 chance of shadow - nothing is for certain! Thus, i'll put myself in the category of "Oh sh*t, we are short on folks, so i'll send a /tell and if they are at keyboard they'll join" (i.e. backup if i'm around and my kids haven't distracted me)

Yeah how did the reporting go?

Question: Is the assumption that if someone were to spawn the NM with the shadow while all 24 of the non-shadowed NM's are also up (but not popped/killed during the respawn window), then it would force the shadowed version to respawn in the same zone?

I was hoping to test this, because its never been thoroughly tested.

However I'll need more alts or people who dont care about the title to test this

I havnt gotten any replies outside of the 3 subs on the list that wont currently be in the main alliance. They'll fill in if anyone doesnt show.

That being said, Still need 4 or so more ppl to fill in the outside alliance (no title), if anyone has spare mules or friends who'd be willing to take the gil reward for their black abyssite!

Long story short, Today was a catastrophic failure.

I wont direct blame at anyone in particular... but it seems pretty clear to me that a 2nd Alliance formed earlier in the afternoon today to farm Black Abyssites...

Somewhere along the way, they decided to just kill Yilbegans anyway, despite multiple members of that alliance knowing for a fact that our group was gathering today.

We gathered up and by time the alliance was full; atleast 7 zones were already dead. Whilst divvying up zones to our members and tracking down Yilbegans in them, the other alliance spawned the shadow in Sauromogue (S).

I was told that there was gloating from that alliance, and /Tells sent sarcastically asking about our offered bounty... I cant confirm them, but those comments would clearly show malice.

Unfortunately we decided to test if the shadow was a % chance rather than tied to a zone, and we spent our remaining pops to clear all 25 zones. No Shadow spawned.

We will have to farm a fresh set of black abyssites and gather at another time to try again. Hopefully no sabotage next time.

I wish everyone good fortune and hope this type of thing doesnt happen again... This was really disheartening and made me lose faith in alot of people in our small endgame community

I'm sorry to hear that actually. It's really messed up when you just wanna gather and do something cool and random and someone else just stomps on it. Hopefully the next one goes off without any issues.

It's clear that the wiki is Wrong. Yilbegan's respawn is not 1hr. It's not even 2hrs. I dont know if its 4+? or even 24? but we waited it out for the zone the shadow version died in, and multiple other zones still had not respawned
