The synergy furnace is just for looks, it is not related to synergy.

They said there would be points to accumulate within the zones to upgrade the armors, Temenos for AF1 and Apollyon for AF2. First wave of updates is only normal trash mobs, later NMs and such will be added.

They also confirmed that it will be +4.

Several of them are, it just depends what you are doing. The instrument is a -1 version of the REM's without needing to make them, so go pocket ghetto song bard (strangely useful). The Ice/Fire swords and Wind dagger do strong effect damage, have strong stats and act as an Utu group but with STR/INT/AGI instead. The Onion Sword gives sword users (it's all jobs though) a strong fusion option. Yagu Darkblade is god tier for anyone wanting to tank on Ninja. The shield lets all non-SP self-use abilities last 25% longer, Warcry, Saboteur, that kind of stuff.

Yagu is the only one that fundamentally changes a job, the rest are situationally useful with the instrument being something that belongs on an alt.
