I hope this is all for an alt character, because if you're learning to play and gear multiple jobs at once, you're going to have a bad time.

He's not learning to play or gear anything, that's what the mercs are for.

Turq has been playing for all 20 years or most of them, they don't need to learn anything.

Knowing to skip to the end should've been all the clue you needed.

Same. But, it's not really a clue to skip to the end, but I do wish this game some unskippable difficulty tiers. I guess today, all that is left is Bumba v25, lol.

Why? Gear progression is pretty much dead when you can get the best armor from 1-2 events. Outside of the weapons, OP is looking for mostly accessories that are BIS for a specific purpose, and the armor is practically sidegrade or inferior to current options. The drop rates and time gates on most of this stuff is already an "unskippable difficulty tier", in that he can't get the omen items unless he expends a KI and it could always not drop, and then he has to wait for the refresh. Farming these items yourself is the longest and least reliable way to get them. For a 20-year old game, why should someone looking to gear up fast have to subject themselves to a ridiculous grind unnecessarily, besides to make people who grinded for a ridiculous amount of time feel better about the time it took them to get the item? Outside of primes (which has an unskippable difficulty/time gate), that doesn't make sense in today's FFXI.

I mean, he was mercing easy solo stuff 3 years ago, doesn't have any bearing on his ability to do group content solo today. Or his interest in doing it. Clearly doesn't seem to want to play the game.

For most people, the game is figuring out how to get all the shiny things while having as little interaction with FFXI as possible.

Aka the correct way. 0% grind and 100% play.

Now let the guy buy his ***and be happy.

The same people who will copy every piece of gear and every party comp are the same people who clutch their pearls at skipping a 200 omen grind. It's just efficiency.

Yeah, if hes being serious by buying omen bodies, the most viable is to move to a server that routinely sells AMAN orbs/drops and jump in in a chance offer.
