I believe SE defines which features are basic and which are premium
What a useless thing to say. There's no difference between basic and premium beyond SE thinking "I want extra cash for that ***just because.".
Isn't the opposite just you saying it should be basic because you don't want to pay? It's just as useless. . . except you don't actually have the authority to define "premium" and "basic" features.

Could very well be that the old timers aint that used to the whole iaps system where as the ptw is very natural to the newer player base?
More slots = more bis jobs = more invites and likelyhood for ody statics etc that the loyal subbers were taking for granted but could now be out of reech.
If we play with the thought of the game moving further in this direction it is very possible that the ptw will start to look down upon the "loyals" (monthy fee ppl)for not contributing to the games survival by paying all the extra that ffxi needs to survive. thankfully you have no idea who us free loaders are mwahaha...

Oh and Netflix also rose their price recently. SE the only one getting ***on for their wardrobes I guess lol.
Damn i canned both them and hbo for jacking up the price. Suppose i have to cansel ffxi aswell. Will resub when they make the ffxi season pass, every future content for a one time 20€ as mostgames in ps store or make a new account for life time anual fee of 45€ as hbo did
Jeeze, I'm almost convinced these are the same people that go and blow tons of money on stupid crap they don't need. But they gotta feel so frugal canceling those subs that dare raise the price two dollars post inflation.

"The authority", holy ***that's funny.
The distinction between basic and premium is arbitrary from SE. There's nothing that makes makes a "premium" feature premium except for SE wanting extra money out of it. It's not as though it's more expensive for them to include these "premium" features, they just want to squeeze extra money out of their playerbase and fortunately for them, there are plenty of saps out there who will do so and thank them for their money-grubbing ways.

Think about it, in the time you spent arguing over spending $2, you could've given out handies thru a hole in a bathroom stall, bought the wardrobe and maybe even made a new friend

It was already news that broke a week earlier, too. We'd kind of heard it already by then...

Meh, it's pretty much trolls and sock puppets stirring things up at this point. Once people realize mods are not doing anything, they come out in full force.
Must really suck having a life so boring and empty that you spend your free time trying to cause problems.

can we please keep P&R open and funnel the socks/trolls to it for their idiocy and hopefully keep game threads about the game?

Wow, this is some of the worst reading I have sen here in a long time. It sad when ppl cry over a company making money on a game. Personally, I am glad they made a way to make more cash, it will keep the servers on longer. In the end, that's all I care about.
I hope most of what was in the thread is some hard trolling for the lulz. Outrage at a game making profits. So funny and pointless.

If anyone feels like having a laugh, take a look at the upvotes on second post and the general sentiment of people that are now totally pro-wardrobe after 4 6 years of sunken cost fallacy paying for them.

interesting to see if draylo & inspector go back and unlike the posts hating on wardrobes to hide the evidence

I think it seems like a fair comparison on the surface, SE adding wardrobes vs SE adding more wardrobes. I however do not see that as a fair comparison.
People were concerned this was pushing the game toward "pay to win", or introducing a cash shop like in ff14, or just plain scared of the unknowable future these changes represented. Here we are 6yrs later nothing like that just more wardrobes. I would fully expect people who had those concerns before to no longer have them now, changing their perspective after seeing what happened the "first time", the sky wasn't falling last time so it must not be this time.
Additionally, who here feels the get "out parsed" by someone who has more wardrobes than you? I couldn't even tell you if I do or dont play with people with paid wardrobes (I don't have any paid ones, but I dont main 22 jobs so dont really have an issue with gear)
This argument cuts both ways, if you see the sky is falling or if you say its just like it was before nothing new. we may never know who is "right", but there is also likely no single answer since the game's value is not objective.

That's really messed up. First the other thread nuked in it's entirety, and now someone is trying to delete your posts as well? I don't understand why this is being dealt with in an oppressive and suppressive manner. If an argument or topic goes out of hands, why not just lock it, why delete peoples opinions and posts? I would appreciate if a moderator or admin acknowledged what was going on with the deletion of threads.
Also, with the emergence of the thread from 2016, I think it's really disgusting that we were met with insults, profanity, being called cheap and entitlement ***, just because we aren't pro-wardrobe pricing, absurd.

Again telling people they have mental problems cause they don't do what you want. Make whatever argument you want but stop saying it's becasue they can't help it and/or are stupid/addicted.
By Draylo 2022-02-22 10:03:19
Lol, to think I care enough to go back and unlike something from almost 6 years ago. First, people are allowed to change opinions, especially in such a long time period. I gurantee you I can go back 7 years too and see many posters here saying something different. But cool hiding behind socks and grasping at straws to keep this show going. I even said in the last thread in responses to someone "god, dont bring xiv cash shop here"
Second, I never said its a gift from SE to be paying them more money. I said from the start I understand both sides, but the end of the day this will ensure the game has more revenue than it did before and its optional, not required.

That or they were curious why they were getting charged for additional storage when other games just as old get it for free.

It's more common than people think. When you've moderated as long as I have, you can spot questionable things very quickly and easily. Another forum I browse is MMO Champion. At least we don't have their problems where if you disagree with a mod in the off-topic sub-forum, you'll get banned.
Again telling people they have mental problems cause they don't do what you want.
That isn't telling people they have mental problems. That's a very strange way to interpret that. Fallacies are not uncommon and it is not an indicator of mental illness, just a view based upon conjecture.

The difference now in this time period is that the game is directly competing to maintain its life. If the profits go south they will just pull the plug, especially given the "success" of WoW v2.
I think there's a very simple solution to the latest cashgrab that SE has made, and it would not only encourage more people to sign up for it, but might bring people back too.
Make each additional MW $1, and offer a bundle to get all 6 for $5.
People love to save money, and if it's a "deal" they will pay for it even if they don't need it.
Charging $2 for each one is just plain stupid. Yeah, there might be some people willing to pay for it, but I'll bet there are even more out there that won't. I sure don't want to pay double my sub fee, just for more space.
Personally, as much as I hate to do it, I'm canceling my sub, not directly because of this, but it did make the decision a lot easier. I hope that if SE can see how poor of an idea this was, they will change the price.
