Right, that's why it seems more likely. If there's only a 1 in 10 chance every single time, it's fairly unlucky to find that 1 chest 16 times in a row. Those odds increase if any of the ten chests could be a mimic until you open it and it determines on the spot whether or not it's going to be a mimic.
The odds of getting the wrong chest 16 times in a row is rare even if every single chest is a 90% rate, which it's clearly not even close.
Probably just a RNG roll with anything over 900 being mimic. 10th chest locked at 900+. Agreed that getting the mimic 16 times seems extremely unlikely/unlucky.
I will say the number of entries being restricted to monthly is a little annoying. I get that you can technically get away with omen bodies and such with zero consequences and the timer can't realistically be weekly because of this, but I'm fairly certain it's somewhat greater than a 1 in 10 chance of finding a mimic in a given run.
I don't know how they set it up but I'm 100% absolutely certain it's higher than a simple 1:10 mimic.

My first run I was able to narrow it down to 1 chest (mimic). That run had zero loud thuds, 3 thuds, and 9 noises.
Well not really AMAN trove, but just got Orpheu's Sash from Gob (SP gobbie key). Is it bis for all the magic assuming you stay close and no double weather? or just the magic WS?

Also went 9/10 twice in 18 orbs, with all chests giving only noise and zero of either thuds.

Pretty sure the mimic moves around. I've done 5 of these and 3 of them was mimic first chest. It's definitely not 1/10 chance as getting a mimic 3 times is 1/1000 chance. There's some BS to this crap.
In my experience, thuds can give up to 2 items.
I have had multiple runs where I hit a single thud, exit, and got 2 items every single time.

Just got 9 spoils from 8 boxes opened; No thuds. So it looks like normal boxes can occasionally contain 2 spoils also. They were all trash, though.

Not sure if this is posted already, chest can drop gil as well. Opened a thud tonight and got 5m from it.

Did a Venus Orb with 1 Thud and didn't get any additional bonus reward i.e. the 5 million gil so the guarantee from the thud is incorrect unless the last chest you opened before you open the middle chest is the one that contained the thud.
We've known the thud/loudthud "guarantee" for 5 million was bunk for a while, as I didn't get it last month with 2 loud thuds.
I don't know if it's going to help anyone but yesterday with my main and today with my mule I started opening from the right and I stopped at the center. I used two Venus and two Mars orbs. It's random for sure but you can try.

I did that by mistake, I don't recall if I got nothing or got 1 crap item.
Regarding loud thugs and 5mil Gil — I got a loud thud on my run and the Gil but got no gear at all... sort of the flip side in which loud thud doesn’t guarantee gear either. Makes me think it is Gil and/or gear with at least one of the two guaranteed but not necessairly both.
