According to the people who created this country and wrote the Constitution, the Creator gave all people the right to self defense. No where does the 2nd Amendment say "guns", "firearms", "rifles", "shotguns", "muskets" and so forth. Instead the term "arms" is used, which means all forms of weaponry from medieval swords to advanced warplanes. We know your liberal communist sensibilities go deep into crazy whenever anyone mentions the concept of Natural Rights, yet that concept was used as the foundation of the entire USA. If you don't like the idea of Natural Rights you are free to emigrate to one of the many countries that use Legal Rights as their foundation. Three basic Natural Rights Quote: Life: everyone is entitled to live. Liberty: everyone is entitled to do anything they want to so long as it doesn't conflict with the first right. Estate: everyone is entitled to own all they create or gain through gift or trade so long as it doesn't conflict with the first two rights. The Constitution used the words "pursuit of happiness" to encompass ownership of property and the right to do what one wish's with that property. This was fueled by a disagreement between the framers on just exactly what the philosophy of Natural Rights should encompass and so they used that phrase to prevent any future government from thinking Natural Rights were limited to just life, liberty and property and thus could take away everything else. The Amendments then go on to define exactly what Natural Rights are required to support those big three, the rights around free speech, self defense, fair trial by jury of peers, fair Government legal system and so forth. Those Amendments exist to protect us from those who think all rights are at the discretion of the Government and thus the Government becomes the sole creator and remover of all rights. This is why socialists and communists like Chanti and friends absolutely loath the US Constitution, it's anathema to their own philosophy. Not your fault though, US education system removes all education about the Constitution and it's foundation in it's attempts to create more pliable voters. it's always chanti....

Sometimes, I see long walls of text in here and have to verbally remind myself that this isn't a blog.

Garuda.Chanti said: » The most rational easy on the gun control debate I have ever read: A Gun Nut’s Guide to Gun Control That Works A federal license for possession of semi-automatic firearms could make Americans safer—and more free. Quote: I am a gun industry insider, a lifelong gun owner and a vocal advocate for Second Amendment rights. I am a Texan and an American patriot who hauls my family to church every Sunday in a diesel pickup truck, where I sit in the pew and listen to the Word with a 9mm pistol tucked inside the waistband of my fanciest jeans. Isn't this the part where the author inserts the inevitable “but”—as in, “I’m a firm Second Amendment advocate, but … ”? Well I’ve got no “buts” for you, because I don't need them. I believe there is a way to increase both our individual gun rights and our collective safety, if we can only get gun controllers to quit bitterly clinging to outmoded feature bans and gun registries, and convince gun rights advocates that “liberty” isn’t just about “what's in my gun safe” but also about being able to exercise one’s full spectrum of Second Amendment rights in every part of this great nation. The idea is simple but powerful: a federally issued license for simple possession of all semi-automatic firearms. This license would allow us to carefully vet civilian access to semi-automatic weapons, while overriding state-specific weapon bans and eliminating some of the federal paperwork that ties specific firearms to specific owners.... Im on a government list for my pistol permit, I do not fgeel that being on another tracking list is a good thing. What I do not understand is that these weapons have been around for a long time but now all of a sudden it is a problem. |
