Definitely a possibility my bump mapping is on. I was using his Ru`Lude mod, but I deleted it earlier. Going to see how it goes now.

I'm still getting the black loading screen in Reisinjima even with using the smaller files and target info add-on off. Only way to remedy it was to /shutdown from within Reisenjima zone and log back into it. A simple /logout didn't work, neither did switching to a mule and coming back to main. And even that didn't guarantee that it would be okay if I were to go somewhere else and come back to Reisenjima. Also is there an original .dat for Reisenjima?

Just did Gjallarhorn after Ashelyz asked. Goal was to make the horn look like mother of pearl and ebony wood.

Not yet, I'm planning to do one next week probably. I want to lower some sizes down more and redo some of the mods first. Also want to put it into an easy download to use with XIpivot as opposed to dat swapping to make it really easy to turn mods on and off.

Malignant Armor Set for all races.





Like with the Scythe above, there is the normal double texture size mods for all races and slots in the mod folder and bigger textures of body and hat for singular race only (don't have to use these at all).

I use the normal mod first and then overwrite hat and body for my race only (using smaller textures for all other races is less wasteful on system resources since you're not going to be seeing them so close anyway)

I'm using the latest dgvoodoo stable release (2.62.1). Running a Ryzen 1600 CPU, Vega 56 GPU with 8gb vram and I 4-5box. I've allocated in dgvoodoo up to 2gb of vram for ffxi but it never shows using more than 3gb total with me running 4box. Left watermark in place just to test if it worked properly and it does.

From my past experience I am convinced this is the very reason you're having black screen at reisenjma, '4-5box' is overkill in that zone. My suggestion would be revert to the native resien .dat, or wait until/if Kireek makes further reductions. Please PM if you haven't already found an original .dat for reisen. All the best.

mod folder contains all mods for all races, "zz for your race only" has the mods for your race only with a higher texture res if wanted.

off-hand requires a additional dat files because there are different animations in the file.

I'm really not a fan of AI upscaling personally, not sure why Amelila is going in that direction. It can work in some games but not on ffxi imo, especially since they started out with HQ texture replacement and now going with an inferior method.

FFXI original background textures are artistic interpretations of grass, snow or stone, akin to a painting or something. When you upscale those you don't get something that looks more realistic. The textures are crisper but it's not more realistic looking.

I know AI upscaling is significantly less work than texture replacement but I don't think they look much better personally.

Thanks for the feedback, Kireek! Just got registered here, so I can now post. This is not only a reply for you, but my audience at large.

I definitely hear your concerns regarding AI Upscaling VS. recreating a zone from scratch. I've been wrestling with this for some time now, as there are pros and cons to doing it either way.

I'm personally a fan of preserving SE's artwork, and it can often be VERY difficult doing things from scratch. Mostly because I have very little time on my hands, nor do I have a decent drawing tablet for some of the more intricate artwork. I've found that using the latest AI models, upscaling actually does an impressive job. I'll link some examples below.

On the other hand, I also like the more realistic look I strive for when creating textures from scratch or sourcing from photos. The end results are truly rewarding and I absolutely love the work itself. However, again time is a serious factor for me and I really wish I could do this stuff full time. If I could get paid for it, I'd quit my job tomorrow and start working 8+ hours a day every day on this project. Unfortunately I'm not convinced there's enough of a player base to replace full-time employment at this point; I have to consider a mortgage, kids, bills and education savings, so it's a big risk for me.

I may start a poll at some point to see how many people would simply want a good quality upscale (with some select, original textures like foliage) VS. how many would rather stick to a slower-release schedule for original textures. My biggest concern is alienating a large portion of people who have come to appreciate my work, that would be the last thing I want.

Here's a few examples of some recent upscaling tests I am experimenting with for Konschtat Highlands. I also do some post-processing in Photoshop as well to get things just right. The zone is actually about 90% complete at this point.
