What’s the hot take about all of this on the JP forums?

However Covid is a thing and companies, well any company not in America, have had to put its staffs health and safety first which has caused delays in a lot of things. WoW delayed, FFXIV delayed and various other games.... delayed not to mention things like Distant Worlds that has been cancelled. This thread just sums up peoples mentalities with the "SE promised us this content by this date" well ***happens and stuff doesnt always work out like it is scheduled. WoW was barely delayed. also blizzard is a US company with all of their development in texas.. kinda goes against your USA bashing when you said companies here don't put their staff's health at the forefront. furthermore i don't know a single company that isn't allowing WFH/remote work if it's an industry that supports that. my experience here is anecdotal for sure but literally everyone i know that isn't working retail is working from home. i know you have the reddit opinion that the US is just a gun slinging mcdonalds fiesta and if that helps you cope with how bad things are where you are i understand. back to the topic at hand.. if it has taken them this long to figure out how to handle covid as a technology company they will be bankrupt within the next 5 years, it's inexcusable and making excuses for them is pathetic, sorry. Yes WoW was slightly delayed but it was still a delay, yes i know it's a US company and they have a huge dev team compared to XI. I also have quite a few friends in Murica that I talk to regularly that are in jobs that the companies dont care about that support that opinion. As far as on topic the truth is more likely that SE really dont care about XI and havent done for years but people are still under the illusion that SE do. They also probably havent invested any real money into XI since RoV, hell maybe even SoA. We had a couple of months delay in XIV and now everything is more or less back on track because that is the one of the two MMOs that SE does care about. Hold the phone, y'all! The guy from the country of 66million "has quite a few friends in Murica" so knows about all 328million of us! Offline

Stop defending them. They. Don't. Care. Bismarck.Firedemon said: » For those defending SE in regards to COVID and the lack of content for FFXI, a big patch for FFXIV is coming on December 8th. Stop defending them. They. Don't. Care. On top of that, Creative Business Unit 3 has also taken on development of FFXVI. They. Have. Other. Priorities. That make a ton of sense from a business perspective. They’re pushing FFXI to the sidelines while focusing on other content, bullshitting about reasons, not discounting sub fees, releasing Twitch streams, and trying to get more players while they try to figure out why players are leaving.
I’m an underground driller. If we don’t deliver a certain amount of core to our client, we will lose the contract. SE can only do this for so long until everyone just says *** it. In which case they pull the plug and end XI.
They lose a revenue stream, but it's one less project to focus time and money on, however limited that focus has been. man I hope they just delete the game at this point.
Would've been the right thing to do, let it go with some shred of dignity, now it's just barely managing to stay above "evercrack" memery.

Nice overreaction right here :D
Its an old game, 90% of current players don't play it because of new content. Also Cyberpunk 2077 finally has premiere in December and even company like GGG is postponing another season of PoE, because they expect massive chunk of playerbase to focus on Cyberpunk in December. Not saying that's also the case for FFXI, but it might be one of the reasons. If you are tried of FFXI, just take a break. They clearly have bigger priorities and if thats surprise for anyone then its probably a good reality check. It's also worth noting that World of Warcraft just released another expansion. So SE could be seeing this as, "Let's release our big patch after the hype there goes down".
Just makes sense if they see players that play WoW also plays FFXI
Ow, damn... DM campaign...
After some months of extremelly boring work, now i have access to daily 30 DM rolls per char, 60 on the plus campaign. While this sounds awesome, that also means daily 30m ~ 1h gonna be sink just hitting buttons on augments... Double CP never gets old Omen, please no. Where is the free silver vouchers campaign? I’d legit deactive my 4 subs if we could all get a group of people (50-100+) who would also agree to unsub with me.
As long as someone’s willing to make a forum post explaining “hey you lost atleast x amount of people this month and we’re not going to take your lies and lack of effort anymore.” Asura.Botosi said: » I’d legit deactive my 4 subs if we could all get a group of people (50-100+) who would also agree to unsub with me. Next month with a free campaign will help their cause... but I think they're going to keep losing subs at this rate. There’s been way less shouts for ambuscade, omen, etc. I’d love to stick it to the devs just once. After they’ve been doing it to us for the past however many years. It’d be nice to give them a full list of “hey you lost this many subs just because you treat us and your game like ***”. I'm gonna laugh so hard in 2037 or whenever it is for someone to be like "See, told you it was dead!" since that's been said what, every 3 minutes since 2005 or whenever WoW launched

Lack of content on a game they have already stated as being in maintenance mode isnt treating you or the game "like ***". Its the player base not understanding what maintenance mode is and expecting huge updates like they have a full and experienced dev team which isnt the case. As someone said Copy and pasting some mobs and changing their skins and adding a few million Hp is all that needs to be done.
They missed the ball completely with odyssey. They keep lying to us about update dates then blaming it on covid. It may be in maintenance mode, but we’re not asking for much. A) Don’t lie to us about future updates B) all this time they couldn’t have done a job update at all? Or a decent fix to odyssey to make it worthwhile content? They’re doing 0 work besides keeping the servers online (barely) and they’re getting paid the same $12.95 sub as they were when they provided real updates. I'd already decided long ago when FFXI finally ends that it'll be the last MMO I ever play again. I came to this game off of Phantasy Star Online so yeah.
I've loved FFXI thru-out the years but this drip feed content is pretty depressing. I hadn't even bothered to do the next chapter in that storyline thing mainly because I just can't be bothered. "Maintenance mode" is not telling the playerbase that updates will be happening, then not deliver and come up with excuses.
"Maintenance mode" is telling the playerbase that *** is happening, so we can expect *** more. The majority of the complaints comes from reading into what SE is telling us (updates coming), then seeing some reason why (COVID), and in the same breath, they release huge updates for another game. The problem with "sticking it to them" is that they will simply pull the plug on the game. That makes me sad but it makes me angry how the DEV care so little about this game. It's a laugh that they tell us "big update coming!" then quietly ignore that they said it, not even so much as a post to explain. The COVID lies are the worst, every company been using it. The sad part is that it wouldn't even take that many resources to make the current players happy, even though they hate reskins they probably would do some content on the game they enjoy.
I'm probably one of the biggest fans of the game, but there really is no defending how they are treating it at this point. Pull the plug, leak the source code, and let the players who care about the game make content. Wishful thinking for sure. But I do know there are private servers that are creating meaningful custom content, so at least there is some potential.
Hahaha...
SE not only lied in nov 2020 they literally proved they give zero *** with the dec 2020 update. They want to give up on ffxi Offline

You cant be bothered to finish so little new content, but you cry about no new content. Sounds more like you are tired of ffxi. Just take a break. |
