are you getting them to 1-3% hp and standing directly in front while its claimed when taking the pic?
I concur with Eightball. Even at 30% directly in front I was getting 1300 - 1500. I'd add to be within 3 yalms.
there was an old superstition that said that the more debuffs an enemy had that it affected the score as well, so I always did Zeni farming on RDM so I could Para II/Slow II/Sleep/Gravity the mob. as others have stated, the mob should be as close to dead as you can manage, and take your photo from the front. there's no longer a limit to how many Soul Plates Sanraku will accept per day (might be tied to Rhapsodies of Vana'diel progress), so empty your inventory and take as many as you can carry, turn them in, rinse, and repeat if necessary. with all of the various mobility options available to us these days, farming the Zeni will likely take longer than building the popsets you need.
1-3%, stand directly in front, 3-5 yalms away. Sleep and take pics and fill up your inventory

I would also note that the Sandworms in abyssea tahrongi give more points that the wyrms.

LOL i was taking pics at full hp :/, hmmm how can you take it to 1-3% hp without killing it? gonna be hard to do, since even if you take off weapon and attack with hand to hand you can easily kill them. does it have to be 1-3%? or you can say take it at 10%?

Haha oh many pretty sure the zeni guy even tells you some of these things like lower hp. Kind of surprised you even succeeded in even getting the pics
Lower is better and your h2h shouldn't kill them unless you are going as a job with h2h skill for some reason. Generally going on a mage is best since it's pretty easy to fine tune your nukes and you can keep it slept so you don't have to deal with the annoyingness of it attacking you all the time you taking pics Ragnarok.Martel

I tend to keep a couple of 1 dmg weps handy. Even if you have skill, it's pretty hard to kill them by accident with a 1 dmg wep.
When I did it, I went pld/sch (no mab) and meleed it for a bit then just tossed a few t1 nukes. Dark arts or any 119 weapon will basically guarantee the nuke will land unresisted, for crappy damage.
I'm sure any melee/blm is fine.

does the mob have to be claimed for you to get points? i'm taking as many pics as i can but i keep losing hate on the mob (changes from red to unclaimed). so i cast blind on it to claim it again.

should stay red if you just doing 1 mob, sleep it at 1-5% then stand in its face at 3 yalms or so. disengage first then hit sleep to keep it red. hope that helps.

Like the above went pld/blu and earth staff till down to 1-3% before taking pictures, flash and non-damage blu spells to keep them red.
