This topic is way too important to be derailed by wrong information about Hitler/WW2 (monetary system change, Russian's capabilities, who gave which orders). I don't expect anyone to know everything, but at least look it up before you post it, the information has been researched by historians, use it.
This is also not the place for a Germany vs. America fight. Different nations have different priorities and therefor some things are more desirable there and some here.
This topic is about the rising populism and nationalism in Europe.
It might be hard for non-europeans but this cannot be treated as one matter, it is different for each country. If you don't want an overload of research and typing work just put one or few countries up in your debate. Details are important here. Stuff like "It's just conservative policy, don't cry if you don't like it" is pure nonsense and should not be posted. Look at Poland: It is not conservative politics (American and European meaning of it) for a new government to fire people from other constitutional organs to weaken those. The polish people woke up and demonstrated against that today, should have known that before electing PiS.
Hungary castrated free press a few years ago.
This is no mere change in Politics, it is the destruction of the pricinpals in democracy which enables us to live in peace and freedom like seperation of powers or free press.
For the voters and non-voters in Europe. Look up the programs of these parties and take it serious. Also watch for tricks like in France where Le Pen says something for the de-industrialed worker in the north while her niece, candidating for a southern département, has a very different tone. Look nationwide for the true faces of these parties.
Another common strategy is to target groups who are barely heard by the electorate like Refugees or the European Union.
Don't just jump on the anti-established parties bandwagon. If your established parties messed up majorly look for a new party. In Europe, many parties have proved that small parties can take a vital role, even if they were unnoticed for many years. Don't be shy to vote for those.
Seha said what this theme is about:
Quote:
I really don't want to live in the same type of society as my grandparents did.
It is about future of your societies. Don't take the apathy route displayed by a user a couple pages later, or you will wake up in a society you do not want.
Think about, formulate the society you all want to live in and look for a party that comes the closest to it and vote for it.
We don't have an awareness problem in Europe but an activness problem.
To set this thread back on track, we can now start discussing the reasons why the rise happens now. Keep the thread clean, it is important.
