Would Herc feet with Str10,Crit Dam+4% and attack 20 outperform Ken. Sune-Ate +1 for Victory Smite?
Legs are R25 and back is Str30/Crit10/Acc/Attk20 ItemSet 401195 Calling all Llewelyn Sterks, or anyone like him!
In general, what are the Monk Subtle Blow sets for both TPing and WSing on Aminon, and are there any other Penance upgrades beyond Relic head? Also, what's your preferred TP and WS sets for non-Aminon? Also are you sad that upon upgrading that the relic armor no longer provides HP+%? I know I am. Back in the Abyssea era, I followed the Monk bandwagon (though it was my 5th job to level specifically to quest Asuran Fists so I could say I had all WSNM WSes), and I got a Black Belt (Got my Adamantoise egg off the last Adamantoise to spawn before ??? forced spawn update on Asura). I remember using the full relic set in lieu of a proper MDT set to tank Rani and Raja in Abyssea. Hehe. Tank with RAW BEEF cause those -ga V spells hurt. Teach me Mogster. I've started working on Monk. Just got R15 Godhands and a Moonbow Belt +1. Bout to start RPing my Mpaca's starting with the Body and Shorts. Very curious to learn the modern state of Monk. Any tips or tricks anyone else has are appreciated too. :) Hoboguy said: » Would Herc feet with Str10,Crit Dam+4% and attack *20 outperform Ken. Sune-Ate +1 for Victory Smite? I would use a spreadsheet and load your parameters and have it tell you, because it's kind of impossible for us to say without considering your other gear in the set/buffs/target etc. Rough lift from a picture
I made this for a subtle blow engaged set in hopes of using it on aminon but only used it in a 8 boss so far You also need subtle blow in your ws set sets.engaged = { I ammo="Aurgelmir Orb +1" head="Bhikku Crown +3", back={ name="Segomo's Mantle", augments={'DEX+2 stp neck="Mnk. Nodowa +2", ear1="Sherida Earring", ear2="Bhikku Earring +1", body="Mpaca's Doublet", hands="Hesychast's Gloves +4", left_ring="Gere Ring", right_ring="Niqmaddu Ring", waist="Moonbow Belt +1", legs="Bhikku Hose +3", feet="Malignance Boots" } I did end up liking it enough to use on ngai v25 Asura.Vyre said: » In general, what are the Monk Subtle Blow sets for both TPing and WSing on Aminon, and are there any other Penance upgrades beyond Relic head? No on the latter. MNK has 35 base Subtle Blow, so you just need to fit 15 into your sets, and there's multiple ways to do it. Schere Earring - 3 Dignitary's Earring - 5 Chirich Ring +1 - 10 Bhikku Crown +3 - 14 Kendatsuba +1 set - 8/10/12 Hesychasts's Crown +4 - 12 Hesychast's Gloves +4 - 10 WHM main or sub Auspice - Varies Food - Varies So for instance, a single Chirich Ring +1 and a Dignitary's earring caps your subtle blow 1 trait across all sets, and only uses 2 slots (the accessories, the weakest ones, though you might not want to lose Moonshade Earring). You could also just throw Mpaca's Hose + any 10 Subtle Blow+10 piece on and call it a day. You will almost always be using Sherida Earring, Niqmaddu Ring, and Moonlight Belt +1 in all of your TP/WS sets, so there's your 25 SBII. If you're doing a WS at attack cap, you're probably using Mpaca's Hose for 5 more, so you can drop 5 from your SB1 set and still hit cap. WS: ItemSet 400039 Emp body & Hesy. Gloves +4 for Smite. AF Feet for Footwork DK/TK. Wish I could confirm if the Hoxne Ampulla would cause too much TP feed on Aminon, but I don't have one to try. You don't take a whm to sortie, but anywhere else, yes
Quote: MNK/RUN, MNK/DRG, COR/DRK, GEO/DRK, BRD/WHM, RDM/DRK /whm is only 10, it's not nothing, if the /whm is M30+ BRD/WHM RDM/DRK is what I used to use since that's what my multi-boxing friend insisted on using. Did RDM/WHM BRD/DRK last night with new people and I prefer that combo. Either or is fine, though. Whichever the group feels more comfortable doing. BRD/WHM does give you 2 people with access to Cure which can be handy if your RDM needs to do a bunch of rebuffs so the BRD can temporarily handle curing.
Why double monk 8 boss in the first place *shrug*
You would still want rdm geo brd cor So regardless of Subtle Blow, Monk wants PDL and Triple Attack in the WS sets, generally? Huh. WSD not as valuable?
When all of your WS(minus relic/prime) are replicating WSD takes a bit of a back seat. Still good though for some WS like HF where the base hits are low. Though nyame comes with DA so best bit ofa case for best of both worlds
Generally speaking, for ftp replicating ws:
QA 1.5x > TA 2x > DA = PDL 2x > WSD Minus whatever value you lose in lower levels of multiattack from having higher levels of multiattack. (e.g. 20% TA would reduce the value of your DA by 20%) Edit: PDL gets more value than DA when you have more than 2 hits at base. (pdif cap only) Edit2: A less confusing way to think about it Each point of WSD is worth 1 value points. Each point of DA is worth 2 value points. Each point of TA is worth 4 value points. Each point of QA is worth 6 value points. Each point of PDL is worth x value points where x is the expected number of hits in your WS. 100% DA from Hoxne Ampulla changes things for MNK in a pretty big way. It's crazy.
What rings are y'all using with it? Nothing would change. Youd still run Niq and Gere full time.
Don't see any point in changing anything. At best it's single digit gains. Like Sherida, really, you're not dropping that. Not Schere either. Not changing any of the kick pieces. Definitely not changing the belt. Nothing changes for malig or emp+3. 100% the same ***. Monk was just already well built. The only piece anyone has brought up was sherida, and that's subtle blow II, that's not worth 1 dps gain to swap to some other earring. ....Maybe Alabaster Earring replaces schere. Rank dependent. Why not drop Schere? It offers 5 STR, 5 STP, 15 acc, 15 atk with Hoxne up, which is beaten by a good Bhikku +1 (or 2 lulz), capped Alabster, or maybe even ye olde Dedition earring.
For the back, I had been lazy and was using a DA+10% Segomo for TP, but I should grab one with STP+10 now. I reached the same conclusion about rings, though. It just feels like there should be something else, but they're really the best by a mile. I think there are possibly some tradeoffs to make in the WS set, now that you start with so much more multiattack. As far as an x-hit, with STP+50, capped acc, 94% kick rate, 100% DA, and Godhands, you get 901 TP every 9 hits and you have a 99% chance to land 9 hits in 2 attack rounds. Approximately a 100% chance with Footwork up and a 100% kick rate. It's hard to overstate what a gamechanger that ammo is . . . I dont think TP changes too much, you listed the main ones, stp earrings, stp back(though null capes still fine imo), everything else is about the same imo.
Ws can put in a wsd cape, hoxne since dont need DA anymore, nyame shifts more to mpaca as its ta vs wsd instead of wsd+da. PDL where applicable but i dont think that changes anything from before. Theres not a whole lot imo, but maybe im overlooking some pieces Monk is the only job where Null cape isn't fine. Dropping the Kick rate is a no go
10 KA and 10 STP > 7 DA and 7 STP That's in general, not just with ammo. Doubly so with the ammo. I've mentioned Segomo's changing from DA to STP, but mine already was/is. It should go without saying, you should do that. (or Crit+ for Smite, WSD for the rest) Woops, thought it was just kick dmg on cape, nvm that one then
I think all MNK's WSs except Maru Kala replicate ftp, so Nyame isn't a great choice. Mpaca's TA is less important with 100% DA. Sherida for Hoxne is tempting.
I mostly use Howling or Tornado (footwork up). If I boost before a fight (aka summon trusts) then I open with Shijin/VS/VS. If my attack is probably capped, I swap howling for PDL raging. So did the ammo change the weapon(emp/prime/aeonic/mythiclol) hierarchy at all?
With even a VII SAM roll, you're AVERAGING "1-hit" (1 attack round) builds with minimal effort using Godhands. Including using 4/5 Malignance (empy +3 legs), so it's not like you have to give up a ton of survivability to achieve it.
You don't quite get that with Vere, but it's still stupid high DPS. I'm running with GH while Footwork is up, using Vere when it's down and Impetus up. When everything is down, I'm leaning on Howling Fist and GH. I don't think that's different than pre-Ampulla, though it definitely hurts a lot less swapping weapons. Anyone run numbers on Duty set for monk (with augs)?
Large boost, minimal boost, some pieces good/some not? just curious to hear some other opinions on it. If the numbers on the wiki end up being accurate, and I think there's a very high probability that this is going to end up being the case, then the set looks phenomenal.
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Justice_Armor_Set The magic evasion is just a tiny fraction below malignance, with equivalent magic defense. And at the fully 5/5 ranked 30 stats the tp gain is better than anything else in the game. High haste values, flat -dt rather than the PDT we have on gleti's and mpaca's, Triple attack, double attack, and store tp with subtle blow no less, alongside a hefty chunk of accuracy and attack. I think it's hands down a contender to wear the full 5/5 for tp phase for all the jobs listed on it. Outside job ability stuff like empyrean body for impetus I don't see any situations where the R30 version isn't just flat out the best TP gear we've ever seen for the jobs listed. That said, the duty set is going to be out of reach of most people for quite a while. The availability of -2 cursed pieces is not going to improve to a level where the pieces will be affordable for the majority of players any time soon, and the upgrade process to get to rank 30 is very time consuming. The ability to transfer augs from lower quality pieces to retain progress is nice, but you're looking at an extreme investment of time and resources to get the stuff. And limbus is boring as hell. This is actually the first time in the game's history where they've released a gear set this good and I only feel lukewarm about trying to get the +2 pieces. The effort to reward ratio is pretty bad. The magnificint set though is a lot more tempting, provided you can stomach the endless limbus grind. Even that could take a few months for prices to drop to reasonable levels. We'll just have to see how things unfold. Unfortunately, the new set at 5/5 comes in at 23% gear haste.
I think the new gear is great at a glance. Strong, solid options that will help bridge the gap for players that aren't getting Ody clears. But for those that have Ody clears with RP'd gear...there's definitely something left to be desired in the sense of that 'wow' factor. Especially with the amount of time and effort required, at least as of now. Malignance was way ahead of its time. I think it skews things. That all being said, it doesn't have some high barrier of entry like clearing Ody fights. It's absolutely perfect gear / content for a lot of the player base that they seem to be targeting lately - solo / casual lowman players / groups that can be kept busy (subscribed) for years to come. Comparisons at a glance - Malignance 5/5 - +249 HP, 50 STP, -31% DT, 674 MEVA, 29 MDB, 250 acc (50 per piece) Duty 5/5 - +593 HP, 34 STP, -21% DT, 603 MEVA, 35 MDB, 360 acc (72 per piece), 25% DA, 25 SBI, 19% TA The set seems like the love child between Malignance and Mpaca's...which is kind of sick. One of my biggest gripes with MNK gear has been how to make up for the drop in haste from using Empy legs (they're just too good not to use). Alabaster Earring helps address that, though you lose out on 5 STP until you get to R30, which delays RPing Duty gear... I don't really see any individual piece being a game changer. But I will say that I really like what the gear offers as a whole. The problem is the amount of time / effort required to get to that point. I still think I would try to fit in empy legs though. |
