Thats a problem with your group, not the content.

Recent events required Embrava or hiding behind Alexanders or you didn't win period. Thats problematic.

I had the angriest <call> filled macro ever for shadowbind at one point and they still managed to break it.

It's like some of you haven't played FFXI or something.

This nerf had to happen if SE has any legitimate will to right the game post Abyssea as the current path became increasingly unsustainable in both monster design and player damage output.

With Voidwatch we saw one strategy which was to hide behind Fanatics Drinks (effectively Perfect Defense in a bottle) because monsters were scaled up so high to counter the myriad abilities handed out to us during Abyssea. It was a quick fix, a sloppy fix that moved the game from being what it was - a slow paced MMO - to one that wanted to be modern in its speed and action except the game isn't built like that.

The need to pop Embrava to do anything became a technical issue as anything designed had to be designed with the reality that players had PD and Embrava at their fingertips on huge duration timers via mules or Perp'd recasting. So you have super powerful mobs, a capped haste zerg ability, massive TP regain and the ability to become invincible at will. ***, lets just play an offline FF with such power because everything boiled down to ZERG IT and many of the games jobs have been thrown into the wastebin because of it.

With these two abilities off the table perhaps we can get some challenging HNMs again and not ***that vaporizes you for being too close. Scherzo was mentioned before and while it exists it only exists because of shitty knee-jerk design that turned NMs into cones of death and spheres of death. Sure, you can hide behind it to keep yourself alive but why exactly is that a mechanic to begin with? Is being instagibbed some kind of challenge mechanic?

Were you dying instantly at Fafnir 'n pals @75?
At Dark Ixion? Tiamat? Jorm? Vrtra?
At ZNMs? VNMs? SCNMs?

i agree how ever it's back to sch being useless over all .... unless you sub it ..... sch like rdm will slowly die when geo and rune come out ..... assuming ppl are here that long ... the regen is nice but from embrava it gave sch a life that SE is murdering but sch will now be a rank D class mage ... for the noobs i mean ... basicly level whm and blm if you want to be a real mage .......

This is all part of SEs master plan to make SAM the job of choice again.

Something something accuracy.

Especially now that they'll be missing a song D:

I hope you understand, SAM rocks a ***ton of ACC, and has the ability to shift gear/food for ACC with less of a hit to DPS then WAR,DRK,MNK,RNG.

Maybe I just play with ***SAMs.

How's that? Embrava tp was overkill at times and you shoot from a safe distance.

Not hard for Yoichi gear up 5-hit, and still maintain capped R Acc. Anni RNG's already *** about R Acc in Mul, and need to sacrifice damage gear/food for R Acc.

It was much easier to build around regain for RNG than it was for any other job. RNGs get TP much slower, and get more ticks per TP phase than other jobs. The loss of haste isn't a big deal at all since marches exist, but no regain for RNG means you need to make up 10-15 regain loss during TP phase.

It's easier to 5 hit a gun, since it has higher delay, and the r.acc on the weapons are the same.

Here is the official translation if anyone cares:

Quote:
Adjustments to Embrava and Pefect Defense

Greetings everyone!

As was previously mentioned, with the addition of the new special abilities as well as the shortening on the cool down timers for the current special abilities, we are planning to adjust the effects of both Embrava and Perfect Defense. The adjustments will be reflected in this week’s Test Server update, but I’d like to share the information with you beforehand.

  • Embrava:

    • Effect duration: Currently 5 minutes → Adjusted to 90 seconds
    • Haste: Currently 1% increase for every 15 enhancing skill points → Adjusted to 1% increase for every 20 enhancing skill points. Maximum of 25% at 500 skill
    • Regain Effect: While the value will remain unchanged, the Regain effect will be changed to Refresh

  • Perfect Defense:

    • Effect duration: Currently 90 seconds → Adjusted to 30 seconds. +1 sec for every 20 summoning skill points, maximum of 60 seconds with 600 skill (30 seconds +30 seconds)
    • Effect: No change

Along with the above adjustments, the content that featured these abilities heavily into their strategies will see adjustments as well.

  • Nyzul Isle Uncharted Area Survey
We'll be reducing the number of Astrariums necessary to exchange for equipment from 25 to 5.
*As a result of this, the number of Astrariums players have in possession will be reduced by 1/5.

The idea that you'll need some luck on your side to reach level 100 will not change. While we expect that the number of floors reachable and the frequency will decrease due to the adjustments to Embrava, we decided to balance this by reducing the number of Astrariums required for equipment.

  • Legion
Monster HP will be reduced by around 10%

This will be applied to all monsters, and adjusted so the overall pace will become faster making it possible to defeat close to the same amount of monsters as before within the 30 minutes time limit.

  • Einherjar
Odin's Chamber II: Odin's HP will be reduced by around 10-15%.

As this is different from Legion and only a single monster battle, we will be adjusting the HP on a slightly larger range.

Besides the above content, Perfect Defense and Embrava are utilized for Arch Dynamis Lord and Provenance Watcher; however, the battle times for these monsters are relatively short, so we would like to monitor the battle situation at their current difficulty.

All of these adjustments will be implemented during the Test Server update this week, but we will continue to look at balance and make adjustments as needed.

If you didn't have an adjusted TP set accounting for Embrava then, well that's your own fault. But good RNG did, and the loss of regain affects them much more than it does melees.

Not reading all posts so will ask this question. With they Nyzul gear only requiring 5 floor 80 KI do you think they will decrease the maximum number of floor 80 KI you can hold down to 5? I'm not sure what the cap is now. I'm assuming 25 since that's what is required for 1 peice of gear. This is something I'd like to know before I cap at 25 for this update and lose out on potential gear if they nerf amount of KI able to be held.

They said something about dividing the current amount of astraria you have by five then rounding down (maybe it was up?).

I see now it says reduced by 1/5. Here's to hoping that it wasn't translated wrong and they didn't mean to say reduced to 1/5.

Typo from the english guys. Should say reduced TO 1/5. From JP Trans:
"The number in possession will be divided by 5 and rounded down."

So from what I get from their wording, these changes are yet to be set in stone, so perhaps on the test server they will find they need to change other things, NNI in particular I can't understand their logic, if they want to balance they may as well strip everyone of Fl 100 gear and tell everyone to start again because these changes are punishing those late to the game with respect.

Nerf the ***out of something or put ridiculously high requirements, see if people ***, give a bit back.

I find it funny all of these nerfs. I sure didn't recall any of these nerfs on the ffxi roadmap for 2012. Yet they are behind on their own roadmap, yet have time to nerf the player base over and over again.

As a veteran sch I think we will give up on healing and nuke and shatter soul all who stands before us.
