This is the mentality that makes me not care that PD/Embrava are getting nerfed. You could, idk... try actually fighting the mob instead of mindlessly engaging and whacking away at it? Im 15/15 neo gear, and have done my fair share of Legion, gj trolling? idiot
Aeyela said: » The PD change makes total sense. As it works now, Alexander is as effective with a Summoning skill of 0 as it is with a Summoning skill of 500. This is very broken. It means summoners that have played summoner for years are having to compete with flavour of the month summoners who burnt theirs to 99 ASAP for PD and FFXIAH achievement points. With the change, those with a high summoning magic skill and those who take pride in their jobs will be highly sought after. I for one am happy about this. My summoning is 498 with gear, because I actually give a ***about the job. Another two levels and my perfect defense will last 55 seconds. This means I'm much more likely to get invited to groups doing Legion than somebody who burnt theirs to 99 in a day and never touch it again, except to *** Alexander out to alliances. I know I'm going to get trolled for this post, but ha *** ha. Take some pride in your damn jobs, people, and this 'nerf' wouldn't be an issue whatsoever. Kudos to the FFXI team for actually putting some emphasis on caring for your jobs. Summoner 99 with <100 Summoning skill is exactly the same as Perle BSTs. The only thing this is actually going to *** is Nyzul, all you can hope is that they see that and adjust accordingly.
Anyone have a source for a rumored resolution hit?

If they even nerf it slightly it probably won't be worth using anymore, besides very specific situations. Especially with the Embrava nerf.
Idk, someone was mentioning chatter on the JP forums.
wow, offering my opinion on a nerf that will undoubtedly change the entire aspect of how ppl look and approach the vast majority of what is now considered to be the "endgame" of FFXI for the worse makes me a pussy? ok dude, w/e floats your boat, you probably dont even do any of said events to begin with, and even if you somehow do, you clearly are ignoring the impact it will have on them.

Thought that was just a fishing "overhaul" of sorts? I could be wrong. That and everyone always says Resolution's getting a nerf because it's overpowered, but it really isn't. Offline

Idk, SE loves to nerf things apparently... Honestly, considering whats been going on recently, i almost expect a ninja Resolution nerf to be stuck somewhere in-between a future update/patch, thats just SEs way of business.

Again, the only thing this is really changing is Nyzul. As for Legion, I guess in Mul you may have to reapply Embrava twice per wave instead of once. Not a gigantic change. The hit to Regain will definitely kill RNGs' damage if you're going that route, though. The embrava nerf was more than twice as severe than I had anticipated, and my track record for predicting/interpreting the intentions of the devs is pretty good.

Won't change Odin2 much, PD wasn't even used. Embrava was nice, but not really needed. Especially now with the HP reduction. Legion goes faster with a SCH stun rotation over PD anyway. And again with the HP reduction will probably still go faster even without Embrava. Just save it for Tier 3. ADL is LVL. 90 content, AV is LVL. 75 content. If you can't find another way to reliably kill it without using PD, well.... yeah. I don't know what to expect anymore. I was expecting something of this sorts, but with a PD-like effect. Once you cast Embrava, Rasa wears off. Though, I guess I wasn't thinking the duration would change as much as it did. I expected either a reduction in duration XOR a significant hit to regain/haste.
Nerfs, now two for the price of one! Sylph.Peldin

BRD full times the runic portal. SCH follows 2 DD, while the 3rd DD and BLU run together. Offline

The duration isn't that much of a killer unless they make it so we're no longer able to lock buffs in Legion. Should be able to get off 4-6 casts in 3 minutes if you can lock it in between ***, and that's all you really need if you've got more than 1 SCH with you (which you should for stuns). The Regain nix really does suck, though. :/ This might actually make my dnc more useful in NNI........ so much for lvling Drk.....
It's like some of you haven't played FFXI or something.
This nerf had to happen if SE has any legitimate will to right the game post Abyssea as the current path became increasingly unsustainable in both monster design and player damage output. With Voidwatch we saw one strategy which was to hide behind Fanatics Drinks (effectively Perfect Defense in a bottle) because monsters were scaled up so high to counter the myriad abilities handed out to us during Abyssea. It was a quick fix, a sloppy fix that moved the game from being what it was - a slow paced MMO - to one that wanted to be modern in its speed and action except the game isn't built like that. The need to pop Embrava to do anything became a technical issue as anything designed had to be designed with the reality that players had PD and Embrava at their fingertips on huge duration timers via mules or Perp'd recasting. So you have super powerful mobs, a capped haste zerg ability, massive TP regain and the ability to become invincible at will. ***, lets just play an offline FF with such power because everything boiled down to ZERG IT and many of the games jobs have been thrown into the wastebin because of it. With these two abilities off the table perhaps we can get some challenging HNMs again and not ***that vaporizes you for being too close. Scherzo was mentioned before and while it exists it only exists because of shitty knee-jerk design that turned NMs into cones of death and spheres of death. Sure, you can hide behind it to keep yourself alive but why exactly is that a mechanic to begin with? Is being instagibbed some kind of challenge mechanic? Were you dying instantly at Fafnir 'n pals @75? At Dark Ixion? Tiamat? Jorm? Vrtra? At ZNMs? VNMs? SCNMs? |
