Solves the perle bst issue too an extent.
Removing TH completely from Falcorr/Yuly wouldn't even solve the perle BST issue... I've seen some running around solo with sheep, tiger, and even slug pets, and I'm not talking about BSTs running around after TE with a trash pet.
Well yeah you always have the few that are either casual or have no clue what's going on. If I had a second BST account, full perle and absolutely no leveled offensive skills I could still solo a majority of Dyna's with Gerard.

I also seriously doubt any of the posters claiming people steal their mobs actually have their mobs stolen.

I've had many links taken off of me when soloing in dynamis. It does happen. This is why I personally hate bsts. They take mobs, and when they hold 5 they get pissed if you take one back, even though they did it first. I've been followed by bsts before because they took one of my links and I said something to them. So yeah...

On topic, did anybody maybe think Camate's original post, might have been mistranslated? Or perhaps he was speaking to a lower dev team member on the chain and they perhaps leaked info they shouldn't have?

I've seen nothing but mutual respect, and most of the time if a BST has more than 2 mobs, it's because they linked. If they're pulling 5 mobs and giving you tongue for taking one, **** them. White mobs are free game.

On mutual respect, this only exists where all involved parties are more-or-less content. Respect means acknowledgment of intent, and as a result, active approval of said intent. The approval implies a level of contentness is reached, and all parties mutually respect each other.

The intent in a free-for-all situation, like 6 soloists at Krakens in Qufim, is to **** someone else over, in which case, no involved party should show any sign of respect.

If someone is taking your mobs when there are two people at a camp, they're ****s. Likewise, if someone is pulling 5 mobs solo, they're ****s. Steal their **** until they leave or quit.

If they do give BST some sort of pet related upgrade, lets hope it lets Falcor eat me for a potent stoneskin.

The fact remains that SE said they'd lower TH and eventually enhance it again in the future with what seemed like a form of Taru Sash for BST.
No they said they MIGHT add some way to raise it for pets in the future...MIGHT, when used as a verb, means possibility, not certainty.

Either way, and I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but you're not getting anything more than TH1

No where in their post did they use the word might. Not sure where you got that from, but go ahead and try to find that word in their original post if you wish.

※These pets will have a base of Treasure Hunter I, but by using equipment that has “Pet: Treasure Hunter +” the effect will become stronger.

I don't see it.

Treasure Hunter Effect Amongst Jobs

As an adjustment to the balance of Treasure Hunter at level 99, the below pets will have their Treasure Hunter effect changed to Treasure Hunter I.

-Dipper Yuly
-Faithful Falcorr
※These pets will have a base of Treasure Hunter I, but by using equipment that has “Pet: Treasure Hunter +” the effect will become stronger.

Here is the premise regarding the hierarchy of the Treasure Hunter effect (from strongest to weakest).

  1. Thief

  2. Ranger

  3. Support job thief

  4. Other jobs

※As ranger received the new “Bounty Shot” as a support ability, it is now slightly more beneficial than a support job Treasure Hunter when effectively used.

However, with the increase in the level cap from 75 to 99, this ordering has started to become ambiguous, so in order to clearly define the premise again, our current aim was to find adjustments appropriate to follow this.

The prime example of changes to this hierarchy were with the increase in the Treasure Hunter effect for familiar pets due to the level cap increase and we would like to start by adjusting this area.

The development team looked into routes to adjust this, such as changing the pet’s job, lowering the stats of the pets in exchange for not lowering the Treasure Hunter effect, revamping the pet’s special abilities, etc., but ultimately they made the decision to preserve their fighting capabilities and only reduce their Treasure Hunter effect. To go along with this adjustment, we will be easing up on the materials required to synthesize “Lucky Broth” which created with the basis of the Treasure Hunter effect in mind.
※The current focus of this adjustment is for familiar pets, but in the future if automatons and avatars are given Treasure Hunter, we will be adopting the same policy.

To give a bit more insight, the development team looked into a completely different direction on this at first, exploring if they could establish proper balance to follow this idea by changing the drop rate table. However, if they were to change the drop rates, the obtainment rate for every single item would change and the effects would be too drastic, so they came to the conclusion that they would not be adjusting the drop rates.

I'm not sure if those glasses are stuck too tightly around your cranium, but the above direct quotation has no mention of the word "might" either literally, or as a verb.

It does, however, state "These pets will have a base of Treasure Hunter I, but by using equipment that has “Pet: Treasure Hunter +” the effect will become stronger."

Oh, reading comprehension master, am I correct in thinking this new enhancement is therefore an issue to be resolved in future updates? I am.

I average 280 coins in Dynamis. I do not need higher treasure hunter.

This is the equivilent of being up to lot Ridill and having the leaders ingame girlfriend get it first. If you don't understand their folly, you probably shouldn't post an opinion.

I correct myself, they did use the word "will", except it was not in connotation towards TH equipment, but rather the pets base level of TH.

First you said "No they said they MIGHT", then you try to flip it around on others countering your argument.

We've been through this...I lied, sue me...doesnt change the fact they still never said "we will add pet:TH equipment".

the might was implied, because ideas can change on a daily basis at any time. Proof? Neo-Salvage pathos unlocks. It took what...two days to rescind their "it will unlock randomly to anyone at any time" to add extra things, the possibility of a starting chest and lamps to reduce some of the random factor.

While I find the whole idea of pet TH gear silly, to read that statement as noncommital flimflam is reaching. Expecting BSTs to be impressed by that is kind of insulting, really.

Fact

but by using equipment that has “Pet: Treasure Hunter +”
Statement

the effect will become stronger.
Fact, if statement becomes true

The problem lies within the statement that Camate made. It doesn't say they are going to, but he (or the devs) decided to throw in some BS into the post to ease the frustration of BSTs. They let everyone believe that this equipment was coming without correcting us for 6 months.

Once again, I lied, I misread. I tried to read like the whiny bst's are reading: add in imaginary words into a sentence to bend it to what I want to read then get upset over it because what I want to read isnt happening.

This whole topic (not the forum topic, but BST TH) has been an ongoing discussion since January/February. It's a stupid topic and people shouldn't be upset over the change anymore.

Reposting this cause it got lost in one of my edits:

Ideas can change on a daily basis at any time. Proof? Neo-Salvage pathos unlocks.

Aug 13: Changes to the Pathos of Alzadaal
After considering that these imbued items clutter inventory, and the time spent lotting and distributing them made it difficult to focus on strategy, we will be changing the system so that instead of using items to unlock limitations, they will randomly be removed when defeating monsters.
tldr: random unlock to random players, our lovely random number generator will cause your mages to not have magic, and your melee to lack weapons and abilities

Aug 22: After warping to the next floor, a lamp will be placed for voluntary Pathos unlocking
We will be making it possible so that each player can check the lamp and select a status to be unlocked that was unlocked in the floors prior. (In order to use the lamp, certain conditions must be fulfilled on the previous floor; however, we are planning to make the conditions easy to accomplish.)
tldr: we realized how stupid our random number generator is and want to make it so you cant get screwed over completely by it.

9 days to rescind their idea and change it add a completely new spectrum to it.

I'm repeating myself again with this, SE fixed pet TH, analyzed the results of their adjustment, see that BST's dont need anything further than TH1, and decided to leave it as is.

I believe Camate said something like "we never mentioned Pet:TH equipment idiots", even I'll admit they were the ones who introduced the idea in the first place. What if he had said something like this: "I'm sorry you all understood what I said to be as fact of equipment inclusion, but the fact is that we made a change to pet TH and upon further review decided that it is good as is", would you all still be upset over "false promises"?

Greetings,

Please understand that the original message that I posted was not intended as a guarantee that we will be adding this kind of gear in the future. This was meant to only be an example of how the pet’s Treasure Hunter could be enhanced to a higher level. While this does not rule out any possibility of adding equipment like this in the future, it was never a promise that it would be implemented.

Oh by the way, pet TH gear?

So SE, where are these pet th+ gear you promised bst for gimping th on Yuley and Falcorr? The beastmaster community would like to know.
Hey Malthar,

Firstly, there was no promise to create gear that would counter the reduction of treasure hunter on beastmaster pets Dipper Yuly and Faithful Falcorr.

We received positive and negative feedback about the adjustment of Treasure Hunter for Dipper Yuly and Faithful Falcorr, and we would like to let you know that this was to keep the overall balance amongst other jobs and their Treasure Hunter effects. After thorough review, we are starting to see the results we intended to meet, so there are no plans to make any further Treasure Hunter adjustments to these pets.

We definitely understand the intense discussions these changes have brought about, especially regarding obtaining currency through Dynamis and Beastmaster's qualities, but please understand that the these adjustments were necessary after reviewing the drop results.
Okipuit went into it a bit before Camate posted.

It's not a stupid topic, its just been discussed at great length and we're all tired of hearing about it. Honestly, I think the devs need to just make an option, no matter how many times we have to kill such-and-such NM over and over again, to have a higher tier of TH on BST. It would satisfy the dedicated BST who solo anyway, so THF was never a consideration for a party member in the first place.

We all know drop rates can be horrendous for anyone anyway. I think, personally, that an MMO in it's age such as FFXI should be trying to HELP all characters rather than HINDER them. It should keep balance at all times, but seriously, this is not a game breaking issue, either way. TH or not. I know it's a confusing post, but the point is, how much longer is FFXI going to last? Even with several years, it's reaching a point where the devs might want to kick it up a notch. What with XIV being a gip and all.
