If its anything like the previous magian weapons that had +10% WS damage, it works only in the main hand and only on the first hit.
Therefore it would be good if you were using Sanguine Blade as your primary WS, otherwise this stat is better off for jobs with one or two hit WS (might try to get on the gun for last stand and wildfire)

That isn't how magian weapons worked. They applied in the offhand 100%, and I'm relatively certain they also worked for each hit of the weaponskill.

Found this.
http://www.ffxivpro.com/forum/topic/32814/tp-bonus-100-or-weapon-skill-damage-10-opinions
Looks like the final Augmented version "may" have provided this bonus to all hits, but I can't find a source anywhere to say one way or the other.

if the test doesn't end up happening, I'll prolly do it sometime in the near future if I ever get the KI to drop. Also looks like I confused Tp bonus and WSD magians, so offhand test still needs to be done as well. Neither one is difficult or time consuming, so anyone with an augmented +2 can do it.

WS damage+10% is going to be the best option for Sword. You can use it to brew with Sanguine Blade.
TP Bonus +100 does work offhand, WS damage doesn't.
And I have the WS magian sword and testing to check this was this first thing I did.

Yeah sorry 'bout that, already addressed it; I confused TP bonus sword with WSD sword. If it works on all hits of the WS, it could still be worth mainhanding with at least a D+8 augment.

Though I can't give you a specific time as to when they will be implemented, we will continue to add spells for blue mage that come from monsters found in Adoulin areas! Once there is further information I will be sure to share it with everyone.

some ul spells are decent, i just don't think any are good enough to be locked to a 5 minute JA.

It's what my merits are currently in. I don't spell spam as much for what I do mostly, so I find it to be more beneficial with the augmented feet.

It's already written in the guide.
Quote: Overall, none of them are absolutely terrible, however some are better than others. In most circumstances, you'll want 5/5 Physical Potency and 5/5 Magical Accuracy for group 1 merits, while putting 5/5 Assimilation and 5/5 in Diffusion for group two. Depending on what you use Blue Mage for, you may see fit to change your group 1 merits around a bit and put 5/5 into Burst Affinity. While this isn't horrible for some situations, it is not entirely ideal. You may also wish to put merits into Convergence, which isn't too bad if you're using Blue Mage for magic damage very often (for some reason) or want an Elemental Seal-type ability to increase your magic accuracy in certain situations. In these cases, 5/5 Convergence is justifiable, however they are very few and far between to the point of almost being nonexistent.
sometimes I think people don't even read the OP

Ok, I love Blue Mage. Leveled it on a second character and most of the time would rather play on it than my main.
I've lived off of the information I've found in this guide, but I need some help figuring which gears to use for physical blue magic. Prothescar's gear lists are wonderful starting points, listing best in slot for most physical spells. But I want more than "use this 90% of the time."
So what I'm hoping to find is if anyone has a functioning spreadsheet to calculate BLU physical spell damage?
Or if not, I'd be OK with a better understanding of what the D cap on some of the more common spells (QC, Heavy Strike, etc.) is, so I can attempt to do maths on it on my own.

Dang. I was gonna say the damage calculations are in the guide, but now that I think about it, in one of his updates, Prothescar removed it. I'm pretty sure he can copy/paste you how to calculate physical spell damage if you PM him.

I don't have D caps for spells that weren't D cappable prior to iLvl weapons, and the spreadsheet I use for physical spells doesn't feature them as a result. Haven't got the time to test for them at the moment

What does that testing process involve?

(I searched this thread and forum the best I could, so if answered elsewhere, I apologize.)
I'm a new player who has reached lv 99 BLU recently. I have BLU/RDM right now, but working on leveling WAR, and have 395 blue magic skill.
The guide offers a great way to start where you can on the sword list and work your way up. However, I'm having a hard time deciding what entry level gear would work best until I can build up some specific sets for TP, WS, etc.
Could anyone offer a quick suggestion on some gear that is easily obtainable (preferably solo) until I can work my way up? Are any of the abyssea sets worthwhile? I have my base artifact set, and my base empy set (except the feet...). Is it worthwhile to do all that grinding for the upgraded empy?
Thanks for any help!

honestly, if you have any friends at all the skirmish gear is incredibly easy to get. In lieu of that, I would just use the gear from sparks to start. You definitely want the spark sword at the very least.
As far as the Mavi gear goes, it is my understanding that some of the pieces are excellent to macro in for select spells, but I don't know much about the new upgraded Relic and Artifact gear.

casting each spell with SA for a good enough high that you can mathematically backtrack and see what you're getting from skill in terms of base damage, then making sure it's capped by doing it again with more skill. it's easy enough to see without a test that spells like DT and HS cap much much lower than PT or something, but still. Never leave a job half done. Needless to say, there's a lot of spells that need to be tested, so it's a large time commitment that I can't put out right now

Thanks for the suggestions Ninja! I'll start working on the sparks sword asap and see if I can find a good LS to work through Skirmishes.
