Just need to watch out for sleepga and chainspell @10%. Selkit fairly straight forward as well - zerg and keep shadows up. You will want a magic auto attacking trust to make it spam his throatstab move which hate resets so you're never really in any danger. Only thing to note is, try not to CDC when he's readying his throatstab if you're using any rancor gear (caught me with it occasionally). Both are susceptible to stun. Only down side is they mostly drop Ferns with the occasional Taupe and Pellucide. Offline

Cool, thanks for the heads up. My gear is very solid, just literally missing certain pieces due to my job slamming me with overtime and my LS operating much later than I can participate.
Before you guys mentioned it, I'd have assumed all Reisen NMs required at least a solid trio to kill lol. Taelmoth the Diremaw can also be soloed on BLU, it's also a zerg, just keep up magic barrier, I had august and amachuchu both up just in case, and I zerged him with CDCs. *Edit* borked up the post lol Asura.Sabishii said: » Shiva.Zykei said: » Yandaime said: » fillerbunny9 said: » is not Refresh available in all slots for Herculean? Yeah, Taelmoth's nukes are far less threatening than the random "oh here's a 3k Benthic, *** you" hits (I might've had def down from Bilgestorm on at the time or something, but still) as long as you dispel Immortal Mind periodically. Kiting during AL doesn't hurt either, you've got plenty of time to start moving.
Selkit doesn't always like to lock into Hell Scissors spam for some reason, but worst case you just turtle up with def+/att- and spend 5-10 minutes killing him instead. Selkit doesn't always like to lock into Hell Scissors spam for some reason, but worst case you just turtle up with def+/att- and spend 5-10 minutes killing him instead. I started a thread on this last week. The tips I received on Selkit are to use Teodor and/or Balamor to lock him into Hell Scissors. I did duo Selkit using this strategy fairly easily and he pretty much only used Hell Scissors due to our WS spam as well as Balamor's moves. I wish I had Amchuchu to try to solo Oryx since I think I have the proper DoT to kill him in time, but I don't have the right tank trusts to do it. Fenrir.Nightfyre said: » Update time again. -Updated Empyrean aftermath calculations. Will now automatically select between ODD and OTD as appropriate and disable the bonus for non-Empyrean mainhands. -Added some ilevel shields (Culminus, Genmei, Sors); equipping a shield no longer breaks damage calculations for that set. -Fixed several Fencer-related bugs. -Zanshin trait no longer requires that you be /SAM with a greatsword equipped. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -Implemented Zanshin for melee calculations. It was never accounted for previously, even if you were somehow wielding a greatsword. -Updated some trait bonus tiers and fixed some issues with spell trait calculations. Added entries for Zanshin, MAB, and Magic Burst Bonus. -Added toggles for Erratic Flutter and Mighty Guard. -Set points now scale according to level, Assimilation merits, and set point JPs. -Added an ilevel field to the setup page to facilitate level correction calculations. Enabled level correction on all monsters (will probably remove that column from the mob lists entirely at some point). In time I might set this up as gear-dependent, but since we're probably i119 forever it doesn't make much difference. Level correction calculations will use whichever is higher of your job level and ilevel. Import it to your own drive and make a copy. The sheet has edit permissions locked to prevent unwanted changes to formulae. There might be a better way for me to handle that, but I'm not sure how.

I did duo Selkit using this strategy fairly easily and he pretty much only used Hell Scissors due to our WS spam as well as Balamor's moves. So can Zanshin proc with dual wielding? For some reason I thought it only worked when 2 handing a weapon. 3 set points is easy spare if you're fighting highly evasive things.
Also, does JT2 afftect it? Only works for single wielding. The Fencer/Zanshin/shield updates were driven in part by personal curiosity as to whether single wielding or DWing was comparable/better when receiving Haste Samba. You should generally DW anyway, though 15 acc from Genmei isn't a horrible option if you're fighting something evasive and using a skill+269 mainhand.
JTB apparently doesn't affect Zanshin? Odd. I think I set it up otherwise, so I should probably remedy that. Not that it makes much difference, but still. EDIT: Actually, does anyone have a source for JTB not affecting Zanshin? It's not mentioned on the gifts page... Leaving it in pending evidence to the contrary. Doesn't really live long enough to be much of a threat when you're dishing out 12-20k CDCs :s I was getting Hell Scissors on maybe 1/3 TP moves at best. Slow aura dragging out the fight was the bigger problem at that point, didn't have any issues surviving.
Very excited for the Magic and Cure gear set tabs on your DPS sheet, Nightfyre!
Off-current topic: Of all the SOA Rings, what would be the best rounded-off Ring for a career BLU? I was looking into Weatherspoon, as it seems to have the highest Potential, since the Volcane Ring can be replaced in some sense.
I can't justify the +10 BLU Skill Ring(Forgot name off the tip of my tongue) unless you absolutely need or want the last Shadow on Occulation. Siren.Kyte

Weatherspoon. Renaye is for stupids.
Definitely Weatherspoon.

Asura.Foreverj said: » Fenrir.Nightfyre said: » Definitely Weatherspoon. What about a ring for both geomancer and blue Mage? Still weatherspoon? Still Weatherspoon. The Geomancy skill ring might sound appealing for GEO, but you'll hit 900 combined skill without it with only slightly more JP, and once you hit 2100 JP on GEO you'll be dropping most of your geomancy/handbell skill gear anyway. The Refresh is nice, but you can get a ton of Refresh in other slots, so giving up the best FC ring in the game for one more point isn't really worth it. Does anyone have any videos of the T1 solo for blu? I have an alt but I'm also really terrible about solo strats and my trust options are crap. I'd like to see how others deal with it so I can perhaps improve my own skills. That and I'd like some herc gear so I stop blowing all of these DM campaigns.

There was a good discussion on soloing Reisenjima T1s on BLU in this thread: http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/48462/farming-reisenjima-stones-on-blu/ Herculean hands, legs, and boots should be easily soloable during this campaign. Once the current Trust re-raise campaign is gone the Herculean Gloves will be tougher to solo, but still doable. There isn't much to the strategies that would require a video over just the basic description. For Belphegor, Blank Gaze away his Memento Mori. For Selkit, summon Balamor. (or any Trust whose auto attacks count as TP moves, like Teodor) For Taelmoth, have more than one tank to sacrifice to Azure Lore. Other than the basic set-up, you just have to kill them fast. Belphegor is the easiest to solo, and doesn't even necessarily require you to zerg him down, so I'd start there. If you find yourself having issues landing Blank Gaze or killing him in a timely manner, (5-7 minutes is a decent pace) then you should probably re-evaluate your gear and try to improve yourself in other areas before trying to solo Herculean gear. What software do people use to record videos from ffxi? If it's accessible and free, I'll be happy to do a video or two. Ragnarok.Sekundes said: » Does anyone have any videos of the T1 solo for blu? I did run across this Japanese BLU's youtube channel the other day though, with a bunch of NM solos with Trusts. Hard to read the log of course, but it might be interesting to watch anyway. I'd second starting with Belphegor. Set Blank Gaze to dispel Memento Mori, and otherwise he's pretty simple. There's little to be lost by just going and trying most of these fights. Sure, you might wind up face down - everyone does occasionally - but it's the best way to get a handle on where you're at in terms of gear and strategy. If you're looking at dual boxing, I'd set your alt up with GEO if you haven't already. |
