Any confirmation on whether or not this bumps us up to DW4
Really quick testing indicates it does.

Melee hit with old 6 DW spells: 61
Melee hit with old 6 DW spells + Molting Plumage: 58

If true that is great and annoying at the same time ; ;

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *BREATH* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Sigh what spells.... do I drop.

Well, with this development, I'm assuming that Shetal will no longer be BiS for TP and HQ windbuffet would take its place. Or would we keep Shetal and swap DW earrings to DA? I need to actually do the math, but I want to know what more experiences people are thinking.

Hmmm...

Does this mean that if we sub Ninja and then set Plumage we get Dual Wield IV for basically 6 set points or have I completely lost the plot?

Well, if you're in a party with a healer and getting standard 2hander buffs, setting DW4 isn't going to be a huge headache.

Blue spell traits don't stack with normal job traits. You'd still have to set all 7 spells for DW4

No, you'll need to set all DW spells for the final tier, just like how we couldn't sub DNC with only 2 DW spells and have tier III.

Bugger...

All those points for Dual Wield IV, is that really worth it or is it better to stay with III...

It's going to depend on outside buffs, of course, but it probably will be better for outright DD, especially when you consider some of the alternatives to DW gear we're using.

Delta Thrust (2)
Barbed Crescent (2)
Quad. Contin (4)
Blazing Bound (3)
Mortal Ray (4)
Animating Wail (5)
Molting Plumage (6)

That's 26 points out of a possible 70 for Dual Wield IV.
Welp, that's going to take some negotiating.

Sweeping Gouge for the moment just general physical spell?
With the very little I played around with it it does some pretty shitty damage (it's ok for the amount of MP it costs, though). Waiting to see a report on the defense down potency and accuracy.

Outside of DW4 from Plumage, preliminary testing indicates that all the spells are pretty terrible. Plumage, for example, is sitting around 0.12725 fTP more than subduction for around 4x the MP cost. hooray. will do def down in a few mins.

CDC transfers fTP to every hit. fTP and WSC are the same as before.

I'm still pretty upset at the removal of CDC from the potency category, but DW4 is pretty nice, and at least CDC got some sort of buff. How's early testing looking for overall increase?

I'm not sure how you could possibly be upset, because CDC's WSD just got increased by an average of 83%.

Because I'm a moron who doesn't understand WS damage calculations properly, apparently :(

Savage Blade is hitting crazy hard above 2000% TP.

CdC is pretty savage in its own right though.

Please explain? Haven't noticed nearly something so pronounced as +83% Damage but, I'm just eyeballing, curious how you arrived at that number. Mine's been more like +50% which is still notable, to be sure, but not that high.

Previous fTP = 2.25 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5.25

New fTP = 2.25 + 2.25 + 2.25 + 2.25 = 9 before accounting for multihits

71.4% increase in fTP, i.e., a 71.4% increase in damage.

Add gorget and belt

2.45 + 2.45 + 2.45 + 2.45 = 9.8

86.7% increase in fTP, i.e., a 86.7% increase in damage.

Add in DA/TA/AM3/etc. and you're looking at probably close to 100% increase in damage. So my 83% is actually lowballing. Needless to say unless the club changes are huge, sword probably on top again.

Did a bit of testing on the DEF down from gouge.
737 DEF -> 621 inside Brenner without any buffs.
Looks like a 15-16%? DEF Down

So does this make belt and gorget best option always now? No competition between it and Rancor Collar/Mantle etc?

Also the poison from Nectarous Deluge is quite... large lol.
80hp/tick poison which only lasted about 10 ticks

Adding in multiattack on a top tier CDC set (22%DA 8%TA)

100 * .08 = 8

8 * 2 = 16 + 100 = 116

100 - 8 = 92

92 * .22 = 20.24 + 116 = 136.24 attacks

1.3624 avg attacks, average of 36.24% chance of getting a multiattack worth 2.45 fTP, i.e., average fTP gain of 0.88788 http://fTP. CDC has more than one hit, so .88788 * 2 = 1.77576 average fTP gain from multihit.

1.77576 * .99 = 1.7580024 average fTP gain after correcting for accuracy (aside from the offhand hit, which I can't be bothered to account for and won't make a major impact anyway).

2.45 + 2.45 + 2.45 + 2.45 + 1.7580024 = 11.5580024

17.9% increase in fTP, 17.9% increase in damage from multihits.

Old fTP vs new fTP with gorget/belt/multihits: 120.2% increase in fTP, 120.2% increase in damage.

more like 18.75% or so nvm derped. could be 15%, but unsure. try from 800DEF if you can.

Goes without saying. Multihit WS that transfer fTP have always used gorgets/belts, CDC is no different. It's a huge bonus to overall damage that no other piece can match.

Yes, though I don't believe there's ever been a WS that both crit and transferred fTP across all hits, wasn't sure how the loss of 5% crit mathed out.

And interesting, not sure why my numbers aren't coming close to that amount of an increase, perhaps I just need a larger sample size and it will even out.

no need to drop mantle right out the gate as there's no fTP back piece. need to math if the 5% crit is more valuable than TA/DA though

dropping nat meditation is never an acceptable loss unless you're capping attack. you're basically throwing away 20% attack
