They don't have to own it. They drive out all the other competition because they can't get the same deals from the suppliers 'cause they aren't buying 50 billion shirts at a clip.

Saw the same thing with Blockbuster when my dad owned a video store. Put us out of business cause we couldn't compete with their low rental rates...then when there wasn't any other stores around a certain location, POOF, rental fees go up by 2 dollars.

Someone opens one near them again, they lower their price to drive them out. Worked like a charm, until Netflix and streaming video came to be and forced them to actually compete again.

Seeing how the laws around here wont let you sell clothes and fresh food at the same place...so Walmart doesnt sell food aroud here.
