Only if you are a certain distance from it. If you are far enough away, it has to run to you until you reach that distance (about 50') before it draws you in.
Garuda with that ZNM headband can stay alive for a very long time. You can run very far away, see her die, resummon, run for a little while, and start killing beetles again.
