I remember all of these questions being asked in the other thread for the Peach Princess BC, but I don't remember ever seeing clear answers.

1) does Despoil work for Impish box?

2) Can aura steal conflict with steal to get Impish box? I.e. if Blaze Spikes are up, are there chances those will be stolen instead of the box?

Thanks!

Fairly sure Aura Steal can only work if Steal fails anyways.

Has anyone noted any changes with Corsair subjob roll potency from people with either subjobs higher than 50 or if subjob from 49 still gives same potency or not for ML players as 99 players?

Rolls in general were bugged when the party was mixed ml/non-ml and supposedly fixed

I have a question for the AMAN trove BC.
Let's say there's an item called "X" that's rare/ex.
If you already own X and go into the BC alone, then X won't drop because you already own one.
If you step into the BC with a friend who doesn't own one, then X has a chance to appear in the treasure pool.

So far so good, right?
Now what happens if you're in party with a friend, who is in zone with you BUT doesn't step into the BC.
Will X have a chance to drop, or not, becuase you're alone inside?

This ^

Its faster to just rotate players through one at a time while the rest wait at the entrance or exit. 3+ players makes it very efficient. One player can be getting another Orb, while one pops chest and the other waits at the entrance and just keep the rotation going.

I don’t think they’re concerned about the efficiency of burning through orbs, rather they’re thinking will the X r/ex item drop if the player inside the BC has the item and the player outside the BC doesn’t. So does the game think a) oh the player/s entered in the BC has/have the item already so it won’t appear, or b) regardless of who entered the BC, someone in the PARTY in the zone doesn’t have the item so it will be loaded into the pool

yes, you're good.

I used to often bring a random mule account or two purely so rare ex stuff I already had can still proc into pool and gives me time to log in the relevant person's account that needs the item and warp them into the zone to lot it.

For example with this method if your mule is going to use their mars orb for the month and it drops a kei's scale (or something else SE does not allow you to mail to yourself,) you can then have enough people in party to be able to log the proper low lvl mule in instead to take it for their eventual +3 gear and save them the omen hassle etc

There's no command I can think of that turns it off and couldn't ever find an answer for certain last time it was asked.

No combination of lottery, zero, off, blank, loot, stop, lot, random, fall, end, reset, terminate, close, "samenametwice", etc has any effect

It's MAB/MDB, and both have a base of 1.0/100. I'm not aware of any cap or penalty for having more MDB than mob's MAB. It shouldn't matter how much MAB a monster has, either.

(mob with 0 mab)
1.00 / 1.00 = 1x multiplier
1.00 / 1.5(50 mdb) = .667x multiplier (1/3 damage reduction)
1.00 / 2(100 mdb) = 0.5x multiplier (1/2 damage reduction)

(mob with 50 mab)
1.50 / 1.00 = 1.5x multiplier
1.50 / 1.5(50 mdb) = 1x multiplier (1/3 damage reduction)
1.5 / 2(100 mdb) = 0.75x multiplier (1/2 damage reduction)

I wanted to ask if there was a typo in the second scenario, where a mob has 50% MAB and you have +50 Magic Defence Bonus. The value of MAB/MDB (MAB from the mob's perspective; and the player target who has +50 MDB) should be 1.50/1.50, so a 1x multiplier and therefore 0 damage reduction. Above you indicated this scenario has a 1/3 damage reduction taken by the player target. Additionally, is the last scenario regarding the mob with a 50% MAB value also a typo, e.g., shouldn't a .75x multiplier be equivalent to a damage reduction of 1/4 (and not by 1/2 as indicated)?

That's correct. MAB and MDB are always presented together in the damage formula which can give the impression that there's some relation between them, but there isn't.

For example BG gives the formula as:
Quote:
Damage Dealt = D × MTDR × Staff × Affinity × Resist × Resistance Rank Reduction × MB × MBB × Day & Weather × MAB/MDB × TMDA × Potency Multipliers

But you can rewrite it like this to make it more clear that they're independent of each other:
Quote:
Damage Dealt = (D × MTDR × Staff × Affinity × Resist × Resistance Rank Reduction × MB × MBB × Day & Weather × MAB × TMDA × Potency Multipliers) / MDB

Those 2 formulas are effectively the same.

Thanks for the clarification on the magic damage formula! I do not know if there is a way to determine a mob's MAB or MDB as defined in the formula for magic damage. Sorry if this is naïve when I ask if there's a common convention one can refer to, maybe based on the mob's job, that has been tested and provides both values?

It's 1/2 because the mob's multiplier with no MAB would have been 1.5. I was just illustrating that the amount of MAB the mob has is irrelevant to the benefit of MDB.

Hoping someone can help with this...did some googling and can't find an answer.

Playing XI on a new laptop. When I am plugged into my monitor FFXI/Windower launches just fine and everything works with no issue.

If I am not at my desk/not plugged into monitor, POL will launch and I will hear the POL music but the POL screen itselfis black. Tried re-installing etc but still the same issue when I am not using my monitor.

I don't know if it's a resolution issue or a setting issue maybe? My laptop has a 2560x1600 resolution. I tried adjusting the resolutions to different values both in windower and my actual screen resolution on the laptop itself but no luck.

I am sure it has something to do with scaling but dont know how to fix it.

Edit: This is NOT the steam deck issue. Not running on steam.

Edit again: changing which is my "main" display causes PoL to either be blacked out (if my laptop is set as main display) to being visible if I set my monitor as main display. WTF??????

If I had to guess I would say this is a case of an older program attempt to launch on a "numerated" display
So like if I launch a program and it always launches on that monitor but now I don't have that monitor it still trys to launch on it but off screen.
I see this frequently with old vb in house apps developed on different resolutions or secondary monitors.

If I had to reason at an approach for an attack, I would try using dgvoodoo to force the display adapter choice, which you should be using anyways to ensure you aren't using CPU internal graphics.
You may need to do this each time you switch play types.
I am not sure there is a quick way to change that value.
I am also assuming you using just an external monitor with the laptop open and not a dock.

Rambling now but you would probably see a difference with the laptop closed when launching and then the next time without the monitor laptop open it would function as expected. Vice versa

Edit: uh do you see pol on the taskbar, did you try right clicking and hitting maximize?

So I got a silly question.

I was resetting my blu spells before right. They were not comeing out in the same order as they have been for a long time.

Is there any way to trick it to do the spell order the way I would want normally haste is near the bottom with refresh.

Welcome back, Kawar.

There is a tiny menu on the right side of the top of the screen once you are in the blue magic menu and it will usually let you auto sort or manual choose the sort order for the spells so you can keep haste and refresh freely at the bottom or top of your lists

After hitting Manual, then you can click a spell to highlight it and then move it up or down the list before clicking again to place it in the newly chosen spot.

Was sorta joking and sorta serious.

If your friend also owns X (the item), you will see an empty space in the pool. Have to have at least one person in group that doesn't own the item already.
