Another pro choice vs pro life thread
I wouldn't get a vasectomy just for the fact that someday I would like to have a kid or two, but not with some random skank I hook up with. Otherwise kinda funny, but I would think that that would be something he would have disclosed before they got married. Not inferred, but specifically said.

I may be mistaken, but aren't vasectomies (to a degree) reversible if you retain your sperm in a frozen state? Yeah, from what I recall, it's significantly difficult and unreliable to go back after having the procedure. Definitely something to do if you're dead set on not creating a child of your own. In fact, I believe those under the age of 25 or so are required to have a year or so of counseling before they'll let you do it. Artemicion said: » Wow that's *** on both their parts. And really, I understand a woman's need to procreate, but what is so awful about adoption at that point? Frankly it's the bond between family that is more powerful than personal sentiments. My mind jumped to adoption in that case also but sad as it is, many people simply do not want to adopt kids and a reason why I'm partial to abortions in cases where the child will be raised in a household where the parents don't care to rear a child. If they don't care then do us all a favor and spare an innocent kid the issues of being stuck in the foster care system. Adoptions are great when they work out but when you start to age within the system many people hesitate to bring "damaged goods" into their homes. Sad? Yeah. Reality? Yeah. As for consenting adults / birth control only, well...
ANYHOW. So that was a long and boring story for you. Point is, even though I was an unexpected/unwanted/accidental child, and it's just lucky for me my parents didn't believe in abortion (plus way back then it was really, really frowned upon}, I'm still pro-choice. I'm for using birth control first, and in the event that you KNOW your birth control failed (broken condom, etc) I'm for Plan B. In the event that you DON'T know your birth control failed, I'm for thinking on it for a week or so after realizing you are pregnant and deciding for sure what you want to do. And in the case of emergencies like I said way back on page 1, sure. But in the cases such as Zah has pointed out, late-term or partial birth abortions are simply disgusting. When people throw the whole "what if your parents aborted you??" my answer is often:
Ok? I wouldn't be here debating this issue then. It's not like I'd have room to complain or anything. Lucky for me both my parents were in their early 30s, came a decision to have a kid and voila I'm the result. Rather boring compared to other tales on the same subject. Is that antihistamines/decongestants and birth control thing a myth or not? /ponders EDIT: Yeah...My conception is not that exciting. My parents hit thirty, and decided it was time to try for number two. /yawn the new person at my work today asked if there was an age restriction on condoms, then when told no said there should be, I flipped and proceeded to ask why.
This kind of thinking is pure stupidity. lol an age restriction?

That song and dance? /facepalm she, older woman. and no, no excuse: just questioned why I was getting so worked up over a simple comment. I dropped it. thought to myself: because people like you and thoughts like that are detrimental to society as a whole. Caitsith.Zahrah said: » LOL! Is that antihistamines/decongestants and birth control thing a myth or not? I always thought it was antibiotics that *** up birth control cycles? I distinctly remember ex-fiance restarting fresh packs after using antibiotics when she was crazy sick a couple times. I know (rather my mom does) a couple who had four kids, husband got a vasectomy, 8 years later they wanted more kids, so he got it reversed and they had four more kids. Now I think they're up to 10 or so, they've had a couple sets of twins so either they're very fertile or fertility drugs were used. :x
Anyway, vasectomies are reversible. :3 Caitsith.Zefiris said: » I know (rather my mom does) a couple who had four kids, husband got a vasectomy, 8 years later they wanted more kids, so he got it reversed and they had four more kids. I distinctly remember ex-fiance restarting fresh packs after using antibiotics when she was crazy sick a couple times. Maybe? I've heard so many baby myths in the past five years I have no idea. I've been on birth control since I was fifteen/sixteen (early for regulation), and I've taken all of the above while on it. Only had one "scare", but after I went to the GYN she said it the irregularity was due to stress (exam time) and not taking my iron supplements. I've done everything from pills to patches to IUDs. Not sure if it varies from method to method. Some guys here have voiced their dissatisfaction with male condoms. Ever try the female equivalents?
