Not sure if I missed anything, but I -think- there's a neck. This set gets you -59% Song Casting Time. Devourer to cap you at 79%.

The above stated in addition to:
Loquacious Earring (2% Fast cast)
Augur's Gaiters/Rostrum Pumps (2% Fast cast)
Veela Cape (2% Fast cast)
Felibre Dague (-6% Song spellcasting time)

Puts you at 74%. There are also some augmentable pants (forgot which, either Zenith or Shadow) which can get another -4ish% song spellcasting time. Those allow you to drop Deep Devourer and put in a different atma.

it is confirmed that having more than 50% works with no atmas? cause it can be 50% gear cap but atmas is another thing.

Shadow/Valk pants don't get Song spellcasting -%, the Zenith slacks/+1 can get up to -3%/-4% respectively.

Sorry for the necro, but I'm curious if the Minstrel's latent works off of base HPs or after cruor buffs (for inside Aby).

Here's mine:

Zenith Slacks --- Song Spellcasting Time -3% :: Wind Instrument Skill +5 :: HP Recovered While Healing +3
Suzaku's Sune-Ate --- Fast Cast +4% :: Haste +3% :: Magic Evasion +3
Dweomer Knife --- Song Spellcasting Time -3% :: Magic Accuracy +5 :: CHR+4

Puts me (overcapped) at 82%. Spells go off at about 14%. You see there's still room for Veela Cape and tossing the 3% Dweomer Knife for a 5%. Not always will I be capped though, considering the circumstances. Such as:
  • HP is above 75%, deactivating Minstrel's Ring. Inventory is already filled to the brim, an HP down set would be brutal to fit in.

  • Having a sub with the inability to Dual Wield a Dweomer Knife. This can be fixed with Veela Cape though.

  • Keeping TP above 100% for some reason like hoarding TP on /DNC or proc-whoring with a Regain atma.

  • Not having Felibre's Dague/Dweomer Knife on because of losing TP for DD and proc'ing purposes.

A couple other ideas for gear too. Not that I would do this, but there's also:
  • Zenith Slacks +1 to get 4%

  • Sheikh Manteel

  • Nuking Magian Staves w/ [element] Spellcasting Time -12%

  • Vivid Strap (+1)

The 4 ideas listed above are way overkill (for my set at least) but you see the idea lol.

Also, I'm pretty sure everyone knows this and it's pretty obvious, but Nightingale bypasses the cap. Was messing around with it and spamming proc spells over and over casting at 7% Casting Time lol. Just throwin' it out there :x

Bumping.

I'm updating my casting time set now and wiki still says spellcasting time cap is 50%.

I'm redoing my set now and Id like to know just how the hell you get 80%. Everywhere I read on BG, it says the cap is 50%, with either a straight reduction in SSC or SSC/Fast Cast/RDM sub combined. This is what I'm finding also.

Minstrels/NQ manteel/+2 head/loq earring.

Sheikh Gage's/+2 legs are a prime combo, and I work my sets around them without having to lose a straight -10 second reduction in cast time, especially while trying to find proc hints in VW.

The cap is most definitely -80% now.

As a side note, lowest recast for songs now is 4 seconds, which is rather insane. @_@

In Abyssea the latent rings work off of base hp before atmas and buffs. So you would need to be at like 40% hp(guessing the number, that's not exact) or so after crour buffs.

I had thought this back when abyssea first came out but it isn't true.

Now some rings work slightly differently but for brd I can walk in and confirm. It's quite obvious that it works so long as you are at less than 75%.

Wrong for the brd one. Right if you are talking about the blm one. SE likes to mess with our mind that way :D

I really don't go on wiki often and never check GE for this kind of stuff. BGwiki is the place to really check for this kind of stuff.

Derp. Because I looked on Alla and not BG. Didn't check under fast cast as I thought song spellcasting would have fallen under something more specific. Well then, thanks for that.
